One thing I appreciate about driving on Cathcart is just how different the experience is between the 314 and 380, the contrast of having a train a little over 10 years old vs a train that’s over 40 makes switching between them very fun. It’s not just about how they behave or sound but the perspective on the route they give you, this is something you don’t really get with other routes. Cathcart is quickly becoming one of my favourites.
I'm fond of Cathcart anyway as a Glasgow local but there's something about it that feels like a cozy branch line route with a nice contrast between the big city terminus at Glasgow and the quiet scenery in the south side. The route already felt that way before the 380 and remaster but now it feels so much more lived in. There's a greater sense of purpose in your travels to and from Glasgow.
Hi, How to know brakes temperatures in cab? The Dr Snow Scenario shows in HUD a temperature icon but in reality how to control these ?
I think he means is there any indicators in the cab itself to show brake temp without hud? I'm not sure mate. Sorry.
Service 2I33 12:13 Glasgow Central to Glasgow Central anti Clockwise via Pollockshields West. Spoiler The start of the service involves uncoupling from a 380/0 set. You take the front 4 car 380/1 set around the circle and back into Glasgow Central Platform 9.
Yeah it is definitely now one of the best UK routes for sure. One of the downsides of UK content it is that they are often based around one train and don’t have many variety in the experience of the route (other than the 66 of course). BCC, London Commuter, Overground, Glossop, ECML and others suffer from it. Not to say those are bad routes, some of them are great, but they mostly involve one train for the majority of services and you don’t get to operate many others or even see many others as AI. SEHS is the main exception but now Cathcart also feels like it is too. Still not comparable to most German routes but it’s nice to see a UK station that’s full of different trains. The main station is busy (if you have the other Scottish DLC), you have a variety of service and playable train options. Well done.
You don't I'm afraid. That is just a place to input numbers like on the 385. It just has the letters cause they're there irl too below like telephone numbers I believe.
The 380 really is a phenomenal model. They’ve done an incredible job with it. My only criticism so far is that there isn’t enough to give it a run out on. Cathcart is a nice route but it’s a very stop start route. I would love a route where we could really let the 380 stretch its legs and get a good run.
Agree- that's my only real critcism as well. Not sure if you've found them, but there are a couple 1N semi-fast services for the 380/1.
There's always Edinburgh glasgow in scenario planner/free roam, thought it would be nice to have a higher speed route similar in quality to cathcart (Hint hint ACL )
Ran a couple of Neilston (one fast and one stopping) last night, it is a very good model and a vast improvement to an already enjoyable route. Now just need the 156, 318, 320 and 334 and Glasgow Central will be complete
I don't imagine the 318/320 would do all that much in this current timetable. Substituting for the 314, yes, sure. Some AI services to Gourock, Wemyss Bay and Paisley C, makes sense. But I doubt they'd take any sort of priority over the 314 - as that 'has' to appear on Cathcart, being the native train - and probably not the 380, being in the same role as the 314, for the new timetable. The 156- yes, that's a straight swap for the 158 which doesn't run to Glasgow anyway, and the 334 wouldn't fit. Not since it left us on the West Coast [heart still broken] I'd be all in for a Glasgow -> East Kilbride and Kilmarnock route though; 380 services to/from Barrhead, and 156 runs to Kilmarnock and along the EK branch. Plenty of fun to be had there as it's a very commuter line until Barrhead, then it opens up.
A nice little (non-380) service: 5G11 | 08:04 Shields Depot -> Glasgow Central (Part 2) Class 385 (3-Car) Spoiler: Content Not a special run to drive- but, you'll pass 2 Class 380s, 1 Class 385, and you'll run in alongside a double 385. In a nutshell - it's the only place in TSW where you see a number of 385s moving at once. Central is really busy - being pretty much at the peak times - also, take a look at Platform 2 when you get there... Part 1 is optional.
Do you guys think that the Class 380 will go on sale in November (Halloween sale) or will the still be too early? Cathcart is my favourite route
