Greetings! I come with rather a strange suggestion, in some ways, but in others it's rather good. It's no Secret that DTG have access to some old IHH meshes and back product files. It has been great to see that we have had the 20, 35, 52 and the 9F amongst other loco types and rolling stock. However, there is a gap which exists that I find is a great shame, and DTG are in the best position to plug the gap. Obviously, a reworked class 45 made it into Train Simulator a few years ago, and it was really nice to see and drive. All things considered, it's not too bad and a definite improvement over it's old form from the IHH days. What we are missing are the class 44 and class 46 variations. IHH did make them and hopefully these two classes of Diesel made their way into DTG ownership. It would be very nice if we could have the two missing peak types as they truly just needed an update. The original models are not too bad, they are pretty decent, but they just need bringing up to more modern visuals. It would be a great shame if we did not see these two classes return, as it would be possible to sell a Peak pack on steam, or even sell the classes separately. It would also bring up plenty of opportunity for Scenario building on a professional and casual scale via the workshop. The peaks graced many mainlines and areas over their careers, both in BR Green days and in the BR Blue period. Seen across the Midlands, to the Northeast, to the Southwest and London to name a few, this surely would be a diesel fan favourite and would add much needed atmosphere to the early and BR Blue diesel era in Train Sim.
The 45 isn't great either. With Just Trains making the northern end of the MML, I think it's a good suggestion. The Peaks were great locos.
Nice loco suggestion Brucie-Magik, why do you like the Peaks and what scenarios would you have for them?
If we're talking scenarios, they ran all over (though rarer in the southern half of the Eastern) They were the cross-country workhorses, Settle & Carlisle, Edinburgh to Manchester, Nottingham to Plymouth, not to mention the Midland Main Line St Pancras to Sheffield and Manchester. As with all fallen stars many spent their later days hauling short distance freight, summer & football specials, mail and ECS runs. One of those locos that never looked the part in Blue though.
Ashley at Vulcan Productions has done a ''Peak'' enhancement pack, it's a reskin of the DTG Class 45 into the correct BR Blue livery font, and also with a Class 46 variant, for those who may be interested. https://www.vulcanproductions.co.uk/diesel.html Cheerz. Steve.
The Vulcan Productions reworkings are very good. I have the IHH originals as well as the DTG version. The IHH ones still look good to me, I don't know why DTG never released the green class 45 as they released the blue one. The green one is great for the Jetgriff routes. It would be nice to see the class 44 released too. Trouble is whenever you mention IHH and DTG re-releasing models on here, it falls on death ears!
