Whilst working on a Class 455, it would make sense to also create Class 317 for 25kv and 210 DEMU as well as variations in class/sub class in parallel as they are built on roughly the same mk3 based frame. As for the Sutton loop, I spent many journeys on these units in this area including Wimbledon and West Croydon trips in the early 1990s.
The 455 would also be good on London to Brighton operating from Vic to Purley and East Croydon. And they are also used as a special for the odd “Football Excursion for the Brighton vs Palace Matches”. It would be a very very nice addition to TSW2.
