It would be so wonderful and for all Train Simulators in the past this has never been realized as a feature. Then you could also build mountain railways like the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn, Zentralbahn and Appenzellerbahn, where you switch between adhesion and cogwheel drive, or cogwheel railways like the first among them, the Mount Washington Cog Railway. Anyone can then build their own rack railways.
Absolutely correct but here's the catch to cog railways use Strub Riggenbach and Abt Systems. One of these routes is the Zentralbahn which uses 15kv 16.7hz like SBB CFF FFS Network with Hge 101 rack and Adhesion locomotive Video is by Yves Mamin
The voltage is needed because the Zentralbahn runs into the SBB station at Luzern (and is majority owned by SBB, it was part privatised in 2005, the remainder is owned by local governments along the Engelberg Branch) - it's also why the ZB uses the standard gauge numbering system with UIC numbers. The Rack systems work the same for Simulation purposes, Riggenbach, Strub and Lamella are semi compatible anyway. Abt uses pairs of rack rails but from a TSW viewpoint it only needs to be cosmetic as the physics are the same.
think it would be cool to try it out with the physics. It's like riding with a rollercoaster. People are riding also with the trains every day to work. Riding the old EMUs with cogwheeldrive with the whistles at rail crossings with the old signals and switch lanterns and the level crossings through the woods trigger childhood memories. So beautiful then with snow. AB with the old section in St. Gallen triggers childhood memories, with the monastery, oldtown in Appenzell, the view to Säntis and the section to Altstätten with the old EMUs so beautiful. Yeah - that line is steep, it closed in 2010 when the new tunnel opened. The tunnel is a mere 10% (with rack) vs 25% of the old line. The 25% imposed some pretty severe restrictions, with the new tunnel, longer heavier trains can be used and the HGe 101s now used can climb the tunnel rack section almost as fast as the old units could do on the flat.

Riggenbach Strub and Lamella are actually compatible with each other because in some Riggenbach sytem cog railways the switches use a Strub or Lamella Rack system.
