Please can we have consistency in how the distance to the next 'thing' is identified. For signals and speed limit changes, the distance is measured along the track, which is fine. For the distance to the next station or other stop or pass-through, it is measured 'as the crow flies'. this is very unhelpful in two distinct areas:- In hilly/mountainous routes, there are times when it shows you are getting further away from the stop, even though you are driving towards it. This can be disconcerting when you are learning the route. It is difficult to make sure that you are keeping to the timetable, as the indicated mileage may be quite a lot less than the distance the train will be travelling, so there is no way to work out whether you are on-time, running early or late. For consistency, everything should be measured and indicated in track distance.
