A good first step would be if the game just started up in a reasonable time. 90 seconds + is way too long, especially compared with other platforms.

    Is TSW4 any faster?

No changes made on the performance side of the game.

XSX performs better because as I recall, it simply has a bit more horsepower, we've not done anything directly to make it run better on XSX, though from what I recall the PS5 is using longer landscape loading distances same as the PC where as XSX is using Gen8 distances, not sure how much of an impact that will practically have but its the only difference I'm aware of, i'll ask someone to check in on that.

Compared with what other platforms? I only really see one it loads fast on, PC. On XBox it takes just as ridiculously long to load each time. If I fire it up on PC I'm in the game pretty fast, even on my handheld, whereas on XBox I have time to put the kettle on and get back in my seat with a fresh pot of tea before it finishes opening.

Yeah, that seems to depend on how much DLC is installed. I own all currently released content on both PC and PS5, my laptop takes less than a minute while the PS5 takes anywhere between 2-3 minutes. Back when I only had the core TSW3 content installed on my PS5, the game would load almost instantaneous.

Load times are entirely dependent on how much DLC you've got - it's got to scan through it all to be able to make up the menus and make everything work, and that's a good couple hundred gig. We are going to look at indexes to try and optimise that later but as of now, nothing changed.

Could it be Addon's Manager related? I remember TSW3 used to load fast on PS5 but this changed with an update. I thought it was before the Addons Manager launch though.

Didn't realise it affected Xox too. Has it always done?

Addon Manager does slow the boot time down a bit as it has to build the content index, though then the internals of the game actually run faster as it no longer needs to touch anything to be able to work.

But even without addon manager, more content = more load time as there's more to look over to build everything for menus etc as I say.

I guess pre-addons Manager I didn't have as much DLC installed as it wouldn't mount it all anyway and have just forgotten how much extra I was able to install afterward.

It's not a major issue but any improvement would be appreciated.

I must admit, a big part of it might be because I've gotten used to playing at 60fps Ultra on my laptop with very few drops in performance. So when I do play the game on the PS5, I'm that used to my laptop's performance that the drops are a bit more noticeable. Still perfectly playable though :)

I'm planning to make PS5 my main platform for my TSW fix when 4 comes out anyway, so maybe I'll notice it less in time. Playing on a laptop after spending the last 7/8 hours of the day working on one at the same desk starts to get to you after a while!

Interesting, I would be curious to know exactly what differences there are, and loading distances may indeed explain the low fps on PS5. I find XBSX to be a much smoother experience and bizarrely faster loading than PS5, but the audio quality is hard to put up with.

Gran Turismo 7 is a great looking game with good haptics, but I ended up getting cheesed off with always being placed last on the grid, which is what it seems to do by default for the offline races.

Edit: so add-on manager could be the culprit for the loading times?
