Spikee1975 The personnel costs are the highest so if they have to earn more because the general market does you can't say no never mind I'll pay less. You can but then you'll go bankrupt I'm afraid

Im totally see it this way. Finally an expert line, which i was keeping whish for a long time for tsw.

The JT railjet advanced was 50 bucks to pay (tsc), so the price is definetly fair and for what you get absolutley justified.

Really dont hope tsw is not only used by the casual only players. Reading the comment about price i could just vomit.

In this case its probably the first and sadly the last expert line dlc. Really hope this sells well because my wallet is open for more of this type of Advanced dlc.

Well you dont HAVE to buy it... It's not like TSW69 or whatever version we are on now which you more or less have to buy if you want the ability to buy DLCs or receive bugfixes.

Free roam works perfect and exactly as intended. Of course like the name already says, this feature will only goes and deliver, when the user is putting certain immagination and creativity inside. I use freeroam inside the timetables to shunt, schedule my own trains etc and i have a great time with it.
A player can run his prefered train from a-b withing a full modeled timetable and getti guided by the dispatcher.

Thats not a mess, its a powerful feature which brings TSW ahead of what it was

For sure they are people they love free roam but thats a minimum amount! If you see the amount of likes than you see i'm not the only one and be fair you can not compare freeroam with a timetable thats for me no question and for other users either i think!

in the preview article, they also mentioned that GSM-R also features sth like radio towers etc, so that means that there might be some advanced dispatching/calling the signaller, so I guess they only managed to make it work on the mentioned routes... or there is sth with the added functionalities that only works on the routes they mentioned... I guess

it will also have data inputs into PZB and LZB, brake rate info, GSM-R... so the simulation goes much deeper than regular and it all has to actually work, so I dont mind the price

As others have stated before, many of us want to have and drive the Cab Car but don't need the "Expert-Features". So putting the Cab Car in front of a huge paywall for (especially) the "Expert-Features" isn't the right decision in my opinion, even though this product may be excellent.

And this works until you realize that the market is finite and that you can't go infinitely low for an ever-increasing number of sales. The truth is just somewhere in the middle.

Pricing aside, it not just about an increased feature set but also about the quality of the basic stuff that will likely be judged a lot. Sort of like DCS planes where even just basic flying feels right due to the top of the line visuals, sounds and physics. The Vectron got part of the way there but it could surely be even better.

That's my two cents for the night and it's surely going to be interesting. Also once again, please give us the pre-release manual.

Probably means that you will have to dial to different channels as you are driving along the route. There are signs that tell you to do that in the real world (and in TSW but there is no use for them at the moment).

Great work from TSG + Lukas. 101 in IC whit ist nice too. Sure it costs something. But if you want to deep dive into train driving it's a fair price. If you don't want deep dive, then wait for a sale.

I definetly want further simulation and challenging experience. And as PS5 player - we need mouse support ASAP! So many buttons in cab and engine room, clicking on computer screens and fault repairing would be really pain when trying to aim with joysticks on Dualsense.

I could by many games for $40 or less. TSW routes are $40 or less. Seems a bit high just to be able to push a couple more buttons. The 101 is already a well made loco. Wasn't more cab functionality going to be a thing when TSW was originally announced? The services are rather short for many of the German routes this runs on. Also, if you can turn the expert mode off, doesn't that negate the point of this DLC? The cab car should've came with the original 101 in my opinion and if they weren't able to get reference, then it shouldn't have been released.

Also when I hear people say, "if you don't like it, don't buy it," just because someone doesn't have to buy it doesn't make a product immune from criticism and seems to be desperate attempt to dismiss criticism even if said criticism is valid.

If this sells poorly, I would not be suprised

For my part i cant find how this feature should work / act in your opinion. You say its a mess but i cant read out of your text the way freeroam "should" be.

Well thats a fair argument ;).

Still people here complain the initial price is too high while they buy the reworked 158 for a full loco dlc price. Fact is nothing is for free, and at some point the cabcar is on sale. Just get the dlc later with a discount.

Well I think that freeroam should give you the ability to create your own custom timetable schedule at a minimum. The fact that it doesn't allow that is one of the reasons I don't use it.

This might be the first time where even I say I'll wait for a sale.

I'm a UK content fanatic but I've recently been really getting into the German content, and I was seriously looking forward to this. The fact of it being separate to the original 101 didn't even bother me, I was just incredibly excited to see one of my newest favourite trains getting such a vast upgrade, plus the chance to have something new to truly study and master, rooted in a subject which I am so passionate about. But asking the full price of a new route, £30, is just too much. And it's not like it comes with new timetable services on all of the original 101's routes either, it's just two of them. I get that it naturally took a lot more work to get this one finalised, but I have no idea how anyone thought that this price tag was a good idea.

DTG a while ago said that expert locos like this weren't what they were planning to do but that they would see if this one goes well. I can tell you with absolute certainty, it won't. The most painful thing is that it won't even fail because of any fault or lack in quality.

So yes. In the end, I eagerly await the next big sale. The first time I have ever joined in with the crowd who say such things.

Thats very true, but i think with a timetable creator, TSW would be "complete". Immagine making your own timetable or change the vanilla and share the custom timtable over creators club.

Actually This would justify a new iteration of the franchais. Instead of creating timetables via the scenario planner and its limited paths it should happen via tasking in the freeroam -- directly via the 2D Map! Basicly a combination of sp and freeroam.

I can immagine even a basic implementation would bring this franchais ahead. No more annoyance about substitution or static stock. Just place it your self and save it as custom timetable.

I don't think a timetable editor would be possible. It would be difficult to navigate using a controller and how about the testing part. On a pc, it already takes a while and uses lots of resources. How would it work on console which doesn't have a whole lot of power

Maybe a little diffrent but why there is no possible option to choose a train that you like by youre self or created in the content creator tool and swap youre player train in the timetable? So for example that you can choose for a ICE3 instead of an ICE1?! I know subs for AI isn't that easy but for the player train that will solve also the problem with the duplicate timetable....

I'd be OK with them charging more for the very high detailed sim versions of units. But we all know that Dovetail would charge the same high prices for their standard loco dlcs.

The thing is that DTG are greedy and anti consumer as it is. If they think people will pay whatever they ask, their standard loco dlcs will be £30 and routes probably £45. And yes, it's a possibility.

DTG could squash all this by confirming to us that standard DLC prices won't be increased past £14.99 for loco and £29.99 for routes, no matter how well this sells.

Don't underestimate greed. I may have exaggerated a little, but if this does sell well, you can kiss the £12.99/14.99 loco dlc prices goodbye. That'll increase their basic loco dlcs to at least £19.99. And why wouldn't they? They know their customers will pay no matter what.

People will pay what they think something is worth. For some this is worth £30 for some they can wait for a sale if they want it but can't stomach paying £30.

Lets just have a look at the "true to life" sim products.

    - pmdg 747 - 100 dollar+
    - pmdg other planes min.60 dollars per plane
    - a2a cessna 172 trainer 50 dollar +

    - advance trains are 50 dollar + like jt railjet or similar.

I think the price is fair considering companies invest in multimillion dollar simulators to simulate the last 10% perfect.

I wonder if Maik is reading this and thinking why do I bother?

I am surprised that some developers don't just think forget it, I'll go and work in an office 9 to 5 and have a quieter life! There is always a controversy to be had over everything on this forum, I don't understand it. People wanted an expert loco, people don't want to pay what the creator has deemed it to be worth based on their hard work.

Personally I expected it to be around £25 and maybe it is a tad steep. I was not going to buy it when I saw the price but having seen the reaction on here, it has made me realise that it is probably worth supporting it, although I will wait for the stream, otherwise we won't ever get innovation because developers will shy away from developing anything new if they feel they have to charge extra for it.

Having seen the quality of TSG's other products then this is going to be another very high quality release. My main reservation is it only being available on two routes in timetable mode, which is a disappointment.

Some on here might get narked with the phrase "if you don't like it, don't buy it" but it is a phrase steeped in fact and logic. Or buy it later in one of the many sales which will occur over the next year or two.

I'm kind of afraid, that if I'll buy it, that I'll lose interest in it, and that would be a waste if money. I really love the Br101 that already exists in TSW, but after driving it 10.000km, it's getting boring. I don't mind to pay 60€
    I totally agree!

Those planes have are not limited to 30 minute runs on a couple of routes. The DB BR 101 was already a well made locomotive

It's also a phrase often used to try to dismiss valid criticism when when nobody can come up with a counter argument

What is the counter argument? The price is what it is, the product is what it is. You either buy it or don't. I don't believe it is to dismiss valid criticism, it is a mere statement of fact. Personally it is one I wouldn't use but I am starting to see its relevance.

It is often used to dismiss criticisms and it's not hard to find. I've seen it happen many times and not just here. Just because someone doesn't have to buy something doesn't make it immune from criticism

Yes its not 1:1 to compare, but it leaves the question why this 101 advanced wasnt layered the same way into kassel - würzburg as third route.

Still very excited to see this coming now! :) Just like with the 218 before, I honestly have trouble following the complaints about the price. If I had been forced to guess, this is the sort of price range I thought we’d get.

It does seem odd to not layer it onto that route. But it presents another issue with this DLC as well. You are basically limited in what you can do with it. It only layers onto a few german routes with no new services that only last around 30 minutes although I believe on the Rosheim route, it is longer. It's easy to point out the advanced planes in MSFS but in MSFS you can do much longer runs and basically go anywhere and thus, those planes have more replayability.

$40 for a few new scenarios that not everyone may play and the ability to press a few more buttons and switches for services that only last half and hour in my view represents poor value for money and will probably cater to a minority of players just like the gameplay packs.
