As the only train simulator game on Xbox, there should be derailments allowed, otherwise, make other train simulator games you have where derailing is available for Xbox one please. A route designing tool would also be nice where you can design whole environments, if not possible then also make games where it is available for Xbox one for us Role-Players who like to simulate certain things for scenarios

Derailments are unlikely to ever exist, as the licence holders don't generally like seeing their trains derailed.

An editor was previously mentioned but is now shelved. Perhaps one day an editor will appear.

    Hopefully we get an editor
Why can’t we have more train simulator games on Xbox where crashes are possible

many companies don't want to see their trains being crashed especially after the train crash that happened in scotland as hard as it may sound but the trains in the game are products owned by the companies and i guess they want them to be used responsibly

    I get that
I know Dovetail has other train simulator games where you can crash the trains, but none of them are on Xbox, which is quite unfair to the console community

I derailed the ICE3 running on Peninsula Corridor earlier today. Running that at 220mph on track designed to be run at 50mph was huge fun until the train just left the tracks and flipped out.

You only get a fairly brief glimpse of the actual derailment until a fail message comes on screen and fades to black but derailment is possible.

the aftermath is nice to see, however, and I have derailed as well but I got immediately sent back to the menu

I didn’t manage to derail the tube northbound. Max speed in the tunnel was 52mph. I’m pretty sure I scratched the wall a couple of times.

I mean I don't find it unfair because I know the reasoning behind this licensing & etc I don't think many console players even care about derailments

If you want to crash trains, buy a physical train set - one of those cute little wooden ones you can get - and you can crash trains into the settee with all the other children. TSW is for people who want to drive trains, not crash them. You are in the wrong place to be talking about the aftermath of train crashes being ‘nice to see’ as well.

if it’s for a RP-scenario, besides buying electric trains is expensive, and making huge setups is pretty difficult, which is why I’m looking into railway simulators for the purpose. If they did Run8 for Xbox one, I wouldn’t be complaining that much as that would be good for RP scenarios and even seeing the aftermath of some decisions. As a person who is also working on some novels set around a railway(my own freelance railway, I may add, which also comes into the need for a route designer since my railway is based in Ohio), it’s also nice to be able to describe incidents that I would be writing about in some detail. So In the end, Dovetail needs to put some of their other railway simulators one console instead of there only being one(now two with the second TSW) such games on the console.

another side note, physical sets do not produce the most realistic derailments as they don’t get the momentum that real trains would have, so it doesn’t really help write realistic incidents aside from minor things in yards.

I don’t think Dovetail ‘have to’ do anything just to satisfy your project. You need to find a way to do it yourself. This isn’t it. This is for driving trains not creating specialist roleplay demonstrations of train crashes. It’s never going to happen.

If you can do what you need in TS then you need to get that or Run8 on PC. You can certainly make the route you need in TS. In that way, Dovetail are already catering for your needs, but you are unwilling to spend the money to use the programs they have created. Buy a PC.

If you encounter a red signal and a train is on the line you can use the SPAD Glitch and when you crash into said train you won't get a fail message and you can see your destruction (if the SPAD Glitch is in TSW2)

    What’s the SPAD glitch?

It’s not about refusing, it’s about a thing called a lack of money due to age and only being able to get a minimum wage job, my goals for after college involve getting a better setup for all the games I play

Also, you are neglecting the fact that the word need was before saying that they should put some of their other railway games on the system, as right now it appears it be a monopoly on console railway simulators, since they have the only two currently. And Run8 was done for the 360, as well as some others, so what makes the one so hard to put them on?

If you want to know about train crashes read the book Red For Danger, it will tell you all you need to know in enough detail that you require, so you can step down from your soapbox and try not sounding so up your own arse, we just want to enjoy our trains and not be preached at by you and what you think should happen.

I just think there should be more train simulators on console so we aren’t limited. Also, I will look into your suggestion as that sounds like a good book for my collection.
Also, something I know would never happen is the atomic train like scenario that occurs in one of my later planned books involving a nuke since that’s most unlikely in the real world. Small things like wheels picking switches, cars tipping in yards and other areas, and others, all happen in the real world as well, even by accident. There’s just no risk anyways in TSW, which takes away some of the realism that the game boasts having

So all your so called novels are going to just be about train crashes, that's going to be a grim read and i think you have a warped interest in it, so glad i don't read story books and only read non fiction factual books, so never have to read your twisted fantasy train crash snuff book, because I'm pretty sure that's what your aiming for.

that’s not the primary part, it’s actually more political involving the construction and operation of passenger rail in the us state of Ohio, however, the company still does freight and common military transports. It wouldn’t be until the war in season three or four that the wrecks would start happening. And ironically, the war would have been in 2020.

Unless you're able to provide DTG with a lot of money to make the crash simulator of your dreams, you're unlikely to ever see what you want in TSW 2. As previously said, companies would be reluctant to license their liveries to a game which can derail their trains and potentially cause a loss of reputation.

Train Simulator also uses real companies and liveries, there’s also derailments. Wouldn’t that be a violation of agreement?

Train simulator is a much older game (around 12 years older), things have changed since then.

You're highly unlikely to ever see the game you wish for on Xbox. It would be quicker to design and code it yourself.

that doesn’t sound like a bad idea, I would need to take a class but maybe I could make a good game with blank equipment for freelancers to customize and do what they please. Good point

Really he should just build a model railway, it would be cheaper and a more rewarding experience, then throw it out of the window smashing up all of his work and money, like he wants DTG to do with their game lol

Before this one gets too combative, let me wade in.

I am, as anyone who has seen me play will testify, a big advocate for "it's your game, play it your way". The desire for wanton destruction, even in the scenario-setting sense that Greenstar-lion is suggesting is hardly a unique request, we see it regularly. It is not, however the game that we're making.

Dovetail Games are intended to be entirely peaceful and designed that way. We'll let you derail the train but won't glamorise it or make a spectacle of it, that's not what we're about.

To that end, those wanting a little more Hollywood action movie in their game are in the wrong place.

Although I enjoy playing below speed limit, sometimes I miss some and speed through junctions way above the limit. I found that derail hardly ever happen. I’m not interested in a graphical depiction, I’d be happy with a scenario failed screen, but I found that the game doesn’t penalise overspeeding. Which is great for the occasional speed run, but I’d rather have a sensible derail speed for junctions to put more pressure on the driver. E.g double speed (compared to the limit) would derail with 70%, tripe with 100%. Otherwise why the limit?

that’s fair, and seeing all the comments regarding speed limit does bring the point that there should be a penalty for speeding.
