Definitely at some point. I'm just not sure if it will be the first one. Would be interesting to know what was the first steam engine in Train Simulator?

I'd be surprised if there wasn't any American steam coming to TSW, same goes for German steam.

I see the first steam release being a British route with a couple of locos. At a guess I'd say either an LNER or BR steam era route with either A1s or A4s included. Personally though, I'd like the first steam release to be something GWR related :)

I stand to be corrected here but I think the first steam engines in Train Simulator (Rail Simulator/Railworks) were the two British locos, which were included in the base game, Black 5 and S&DJR 7F.

I hope that the Isle of Wight steam railway is added at some point

First steam loco is most probably going to be a British one. I would love to see some German steam!

The UP "Big Boys" would be very appreciated if brought to TSW 2. They are regarded as some if not THE biggest steam locomotives ever built in America and the world. I would expect some kind of American steam locomotives. The U.S has been known for quite a lot of famous steam locomotives. An American steam locomotive has to be somewhat guaranteed to come.

Not for a few years, if any.

US steam is complicated, especially the larger locos, Dovetail also themselves haven't really made any US steam on the TS21 side of things. (All US steam locos are usually 3rd Party, especially all the recent releases, the older releases are from the RSC days).

I want to be wrong but I just don't see it happening for years (Not to mention we don't know how long till steam comes to TSW2 in general)

Oh, is it ever!? It would be a fearful task to model the fully functioning cab of a Challenger, for instance. Even the exterior of one of those brutes would be "challenging". I'd love to see one of them charging up Sand Patch or Clinchfield, but I'm not expecting it any time soon.

Yeah, Smokebox started their work on the Big Boy for TS20XX around June 2019, and are just about done with it (Based on their last post) March 2021, almost 2 years of work.

At least from a 3D modeling perspective, one of the streamliners would be easier

Yes, an SP GS4 "Daylight" would be very nice. Would need a new route, though.

Amazing what those guys have done in TS20XX. Close to TSW2 in terms of functionality. Kind of gives you a clue about the learning curve for driving steam, when it comes.

I’m hoping for Norfolk and Western 611 but I’ll be happy with any mainline us steam. I’d like 611 or PRR T-1 5550. I realize UK rail-fans may not appreciate it but, I’d kind of like to give Mallards speed record a go. There group building the new build T-1 is trying to do precisely that. But mainline steam running at track speed would be impressive as well.

It's a nice computer graphic, but I'll only believe it when they put iron on rails.

I really hope to see the project come to fruition, I’ve donated to them a couple times. They’ve funded a lot of parts already I believe the boiler is mostly finished.
