If you have a 4070 im not sure but for a 4070TI(super), 4080(ti)(super) or a 4090 it will work they are nearly equal at the 5070 or higher. Im pretty sure you can use it.
It depends on what you have on the hardware side.... PCs could have very different specs so when you share youre pc specs i can answer if you can use the Epic setting
There's nothing stopping Epic Settings working on weaker hardware, but your performance won't be very good below our recommendation. That being said, if you are happy to cap your FPS at 30 and use frame generation that could be an option.
If I can have 60FPS stable with no ghosting from AA that would be an achievement, I care much less about the extra detail level that was added for us on PC. Sadly I am on RTX 3000 series so frame gen is out, but could still use DLSS upscaling instead of needing to actually downscale from a higher res to have a smooth image. Currently the in game upscaling has quite some blurriness if DLSS/FSR does it better I will be happy. Didnt watch the video, just skimmed the FAQ article and various reports. Is Freight Hauler a TSW7 exclusive feature or we can expect it to be backported to routes when they get updates? Some pre TSW6 got the TSR treatment over the year is it anything similar in terms of integration complexitiy?
even the 4070 ti super is superior to the 5070 (except for the memory type, 40xx uses GDDR6/GDDR6X and 50xx uses GDDR7)
in my opinion (based on my usage scenario) no. I was considering an upgrade to the 5070 Ti, but I concluded it’s not worth it cuz the performance gain doesn't justify the cost that’s why i’m going to wait for the 5070 Ti SUPER
Do you think I’d see a great deal of performance upgrading from 4090-5090 on TSW? I just don’t feel the game and core is good enough to need that boost
That sounds like a potentially painful experience. Frame gen, to reliably work properly, requires a consistent 30 as the absolute minimum input framerate to work off. So if you can't guarantee that as a baseline floor, expectations really ought to be tempered.
It's not ideal, but I'm aware that some people already do this and are perfectly happy. All depends on the individual.
Have any of your testers used the 4090 on Epic mode or whatever it’s called? What were the general FPS? Has the version of UE changed or been upgraded for TSW7 or is it still using 4.xx? Are we going to have to redownload current content clean for TSW7?
No change to the UE version. That's a huge undertaking and causes more problems than it solves. I've heard from several RTX 4080 owners and they don't seem to notice any performance deficit with Epic Settings, so that may be the sweet spot. An RTX 4090 and above should have no issues.
These are the guesses that people made, some of them spot on! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...vh-IfSTc8Q7094ZYpcoIR1HuRKZLlKA/viewanalytics
That's not 100% true.... The 5080 has better systems via AI so in some games with upscaling the 5080 is better. Also created true DDR7 instead of DDR6 of the 4090. So yeah it's not always a winner
when it comes to raw firepower, the 4090 outperforms the 5080 by a significant margin AI features don't even count toward raw firepower
Nice, but that’s not how most people use the card. Practically everyone uses Frame Gen if the game supports it, so… It’s a bit like buying a sports car that can drive 500 km/h, but you’re not allowed to do that at all. Cool that it can, but that doesn’t automatically make it a better car. A slower car can still perform better because it has more luxurious driving‑assistance features or more comfortable seats. And the 5080 is better in Frame gen scenarios so its not that Black or white
I don't know what better systems via AI you are talking about. The 5080 has multiframe generation and that's it AFAIK.
Thats what i was pointing out and its support with ai models. Quote: DLSS 4: It uses AI for Deep Learning Super Sampling to improve visual quality. Frame Generation: It uses AI to generate extra gaming frames for smoother motion.
Frame generation adds input lag, so not good for any game where your reflexes count. I do not use it in most games just for that reason, and most people I know do the same. TSW does not natively support framegen. You can try to force it thru nvidia drivers but don't expect miracles.
