Well I know what route I won’t get. I guess the only thing saving the US is The new NYT timetable. That doesn’t make sense at all. Very disappointed

Seems very quiet timetable wise, will be cool to have Metrolink, and the Loco/Cabcar look fun at least.
    Although I guess that's assuming it's a modern route?

This is the schedule. It doesn't make sense. you will see maybe one train in the 76.6 miles.

Yeah, I'm super confused by that. Was it busier in an earlier era maybe?

So if it is, is it only the passenge line? Will there be any UP freight at all? Will LATC be featured? It's literally right across the LA River from Mission Junction.

It was before the Southern Pacific built West Colton Yard and the Palmdale Cutoff thru Cajon Pass to reroute and move trains away from the old Taylor yard near Los Angeles. Believe the line saw passenger traffic from the San Joaquin Daylight, it's overnight counterpart, and a local train.

We don't know anything more than the route is called Antelope, and it's for TSW4. I'd be hoping for freight or something as it is VERY quiet passenger wise.

If it's that line though, why is the icon a tram?

Because that is the tier 1 challenge icon. So it's for an unlockable on the route.

It shows one of the decals you get for finishing Tier 1 of Mastery. They don't always relate to the route.

So we get an unlockable tram that parks at LAUPT, guess it sort of makes sense?

Those are the decals you unlock... Nothing more. Lots of times, the decals have nothing to fo with the route.

I will note the Antelope Valley Line shares trackage with the Ventura line till Burbank, though IMO the Ventura line would of been a better route, especially with Pacific Surfliner.

This route would make the glossop line look like the BML and west somerset railway like SEHS.......
It has to be a freight route probably BNSF.............. with 22 passenger service as a bonus

Does BNSF run on that line? I would love more BNSF lol, and Metrolink as a bonus would be great.

Ventura line is only 70 miles, and at least 10 of those have got to be shared to Burbank?
So maybe it's possible it's Antelope and Ventura? Would add the Surfliner in as an option, and would follow Matts philosophy of "deeper holes" route wise.

If you want to try and find the UK route then try substituting a word where it says antelope in the URL. I have tried all the UK lines I can think of and none of them are there.

Union Pacific runs that line, but the only freight action the entire line sees is DOMESTIC intermodel freight from LATC or Long Beach to Lathrop or the PNW, all other freight traffic is routed through West Colton over Cajon Pass via the Palmdale Cutoff till in rejoins that line in...well Palmdale.
    AsSUnut.jpg krt44cv.jpg showimage.jpeg

Meaning only a handful of freight traffic consisting of only 53ft containers and some trailers (Though one train from Lathrop to the area has some Autoracks tacked onto it, as I see it pass by where I live.)

Is it possible this is a red herring and there's a train somewhere called the Antelope either by its manufacturers or nicknamed that by enthusiasts.

Also, I stated this on the TSC discord, but 1 reason they could of picked the Antelope line is cause they could reuse assets for the desert section from Cajon Pass.

Only way I can see that happening is if the line extends to Mojave, so there is freight running of the regular manifests from West Colton between Mojave and the Palmdale Cutoff, while the Intermodals run from Mojave to either past LA to Long Beach or to LATC with options for switching in that yard.

I'll be genuinely heartbroken if it isn't the ECML and the Class 800.

If they give us some random small UK route, I'll be extremely disapointed.

    Service[edit]
Santa Clarita station in the Soledad Canyon
The Antelope Valley Line has 19 trains each way between Union Station and Lancaster on weekdays and six trains each way on weekends.[16] As a commuter rail service, most weekday trains on the Antelope Valley line run during the peak morning and evening hours with the majority of trains operating southbound toward Los Angeles in the morning and northbound away from Los Angeles in the evening.[16] There is limited mid-day and reverse commute service (northbound in the morning and southbound in the evening). Weekend service is more evenly spaced throughout the day.

As of the June 2016 timetable, only eight trains operate the full route from Lancaster to Los Angeles on weekdays and nine trains operate the full route from Los Angeles to Lancaster. Four southbound trains on weekdays originate in Palmdale and end in Newhall. The next available train with service to Los Angeles arrives in Newhall within 45 minutes. Most of the short turn trains have connecting North County TRANSporter bus service that takes passengers to or from the Palmdale station. All weekend trains operate the full route.

Two trains on weekdays operate on an express schedule in the peak commute direction (one train southbound in the morning and one train northbound in the evening) between Palmdale and Los Angeles making stops only at the Santa Clarita, Sylmar/San Fernando and Downtown Burbank stations.

Honestly if this does end up being the route I think it will be one of the last things anyone at all expected lol, a very odd choice. But then again a lot of people have been asking for ACE after they expressed interest in joining the game which has even less services to offer. Hopefully we will at least get a new UP locomotive out of it maybe a UP GEVO or SD70M. Time will tell.

So the suggestion had 11 likes and seven responses which most have one like. I wouldn’t put this anywhere in a highly requested route which was rested back in July of 2020. Is just another route that will be mostly cut and paste from Cajon pass for scenery so I can see why it would be chosen.. I still don’t get it. I shouldn’t be surprised but I’m. At least I have NYT new timetable to fall back on and hopefully will be out soon.

Yeah I know, odd indeed. I'm going to be optimistic because the future possibilities if Metrolink does enter the game almost certainly indicate a future Surfliner route (one of the most highly requested).

But Antelope Valley is the oddest choice of all the Metrolink lines. Ventura County would've been better or even the 91/Perris line to Riverside and then continue to San Bernardino via the Inland Empire Line. But like I said I will choose to be optimistic and am excited for Metrolink as I grew up with them.

You will be lucky to see another train during you service. I guess would be more like a freight route pattern but even less. 22 passenger trips a day. Very odd. I hope they have something else up their sleeve. Maybe that’s why the have been holding back the NYT timetable to counter. Hoping for the UK route to save the day.

Perhaps since this line is single track with sidings, maybe they have fixed the previous issues that prohibited viable single track routes? Always having to use sidings in certain directions like on Clinchfield.

So, did a quick overview of the line, and there is a chance a single local freight can be run on the line with only a handful of freight cars needed.......

-Builders FirstSource south of the Glendale Station (Centerbeams?)

-Builders FirstSource, north of the Burbank Station off the old Burbank Branch. (Centerbeams?)

-Phillips Plywood, Pacoima (Looks unused IRL, but not disconnected)

    -Spears Manufacturing, Sylmar (Covered Hoppers)

-Hasa and Builders FirstSource, Sagus (Tankers and Centerbeams?)

Weyerhaeuser, just passed the Via Princessa station (Bulkhead Flatcars)

Not much else passed that, another lumber yard, but the rest of the industries in the Antelope Valley (Which are all Aircraft Manufactures) have all been disconnected except Lockheed Martin's Skunkworks, but that would be too obscure for a local to handle.

There is a chance for an aggregate train to return, as Vulcan Materials has a siding and dump pit located in Sun Valley.

That would be fun since DTG has never made a route with a true multi-stop local service, be fun and unique. The train that serves Vulcan Materials is the rock train that runs back and forth between a rock quarry on the far side of Beaumont Hill. Not that it couldn't be used but if prototypical, it wouldn't feature the whole route.

Are you sure thats where it comes from though? Thought that quarry is owned by Robertson's Ready Mix, who has UP run that train to their plant in Gardena. (Not that it would matter in game, as the train would spawn off map and its origin is moot)
