Dovetail Direct Reaction / Tsw4 Thread

I edited my post.. What the easiest thing to do is.. Have a loader that either loads UE4 or UE5 version from the game menu. No need to update old routes and new routes can be made without issues. And, they can keep the TSW3 store up and sell old routes.

If not, they can buy this idea from me.

 

At some point, DTG is going to have to switch from updating all old routes to supporting them as is along with their older TSW version. I'm curious if they've yet established for themselves that tipping point.

 

Pretty much all of the TSW1, and TSW2 routes are no longer being updated already. They have old lighting, old versions of traction and much older 3d assets.

 

Existing UE4 routes cannot be "converted" or "ported" to UE5. The game engines are so different in so many core functions that the old route would have to be thrown out and a new replacement built from scratch.

 

It's already been shot down. Maik from tsg has explained already that it is almost completely rebuilding each dlc. The track and everything about the environment and all has to be redone. Meshes, textures, sounds maybe could be used again but most of the stuff has to be redone, making it even less viable since there's over 80 dlc now and even more

 

What I meant was, they were all updated for TSW3. But at some point, recooking and having people redownload every DLC for each new TSW version just won't be viable. I'm wondering if they've drawn that line and how they'll handle it.

 

They will instantly lose all community goodwill, and support if they do that. They need to just transfer to a single updatable platform like TSC.

 

That stuff is unlikely to have been updated even if we stuck with the same core game.
The routes won't evolve alongside the game. They'll be what they were at release - bug fixes and certain 'universal' features aside.

 

I'm sorry my friend but Train Sim world 4 will release next year. New train Sim World titles comes out every 2 years!!!

So what are you going to do/say when Train Sim world 4 is announced on Tuesday and comes out in September?

 

For some reason i can agree with you, i just think it's something like the Spring Summit so just a release of some add-ons + a big TSW3 update!

 

I would call that TSW 4

 

DTG are also calling it TSW4 it appears.

 

We have already seen (many) files in the name of TSW4.

 

And if Dtg do indeed announce Tsw4 tomorrow, what would your reaction be then?

Putting things in bold actually makes it more difficult for me to read it fully. It's fine if you are bolding just one word to emphasize but making an entire sentence bold makes it harder to actually read it. You wouldn't write an entire school essay bolded, so same thing applies here. Use bold for emphasizing a single word

The thing I'm most impressed with are the sourcing of sounds. It's been a bit since they were able to make recording trips.

 

I'm a bit disappointed about the ECML, the era is fine, but Peterborough- Doncaster is meh. I also don't like how there is only one train (well, 2 if including Flying Scotsman).

Hopefully this opens up routes to Leeds, Lincoln, Ely etc.
