Thanks, appreciate it- looking forward to hearing more about them.

So, these would be future TSW5 routes, right? Not for launch?

Quite impressed with the new features coming in Train Sim World 5. Possibly the best release yet?

So, does your train come with you (in free-roam for example, because that would be cool?

Correct, there is only one listed as in the next 3 months, which is MBTA Boston - Worcester, everything else was listed as 'further down the tracks'. I think they are publishing a roadmap article tomorrow, with a stream on Thursday, so we should know a lot more then.

I vaguely remember some talk about how TSW3 drastically reduced the amount of achievements per route due to some console limitations. In the FAQ, there's this tidbit:
    upload_2024-8-21_1-3-44.png
Not sure who complained about the achievements being a drag. They used to pop immediately after progressing, meaning that all of them took a few hours to re-unlock, but that's neither here nor there.

Since TSW5 removes achievements related to the old routes, and will presumably only have achievements relating to however many routes you manage to release until next September (like 8? 10?), here's my question:

Will there be more than 3 achievements per Route again? (there better be)
Will achievements relating to Loco DLCs return again? (they better do)

Achievements provide a significant motivational boost for a significant chunk of the audience. I, for example, don't even consider purchasing a game if it doesn't have them. Indeed, I stopped purchasing separate locos as soon as they stopped receiving achievements — because what's the point? It's not like the gameplay experience of one crackerbox significantly differs from the other, and you don't even get like a badge of honour for completing some task, so the dopamine hit of a reward isn't even there.
You have at least 250 achievements slots to play with, and will have about 10-15 DLCs to use them on. Do take this opportunity to make gameplay that much more engaging.

Excellent news, thank you. This might have just moved me from "wait for a massive sale" to "wait for reviews, then buy anyway."

While I have your attention, please fix the broken Fife Circle achievements before TSW4 support ceases, those are the only ones not working :)

Yes. For example "guards/conductors" isn't listed but it's not a "core" improvement really, it's limited to specific routes. Most routes don't have them. Just like "route jumping" isn't included... but that's because there's only two routes that are experimenting with the feature (Cajon Pass and San Bernadino) so you need those to make it work. The functionality should still be there in the core.... if for example 6 months from now there's a new update where they add "route jumping" to other existing routes.

Route hopping is actually going to work on most routes in the catalogue from day 1. I've added it to every route i could think of that had a valid reason for it and that ends up to be quite a lot of them. We'll get a complete list out at some point.

Hoping that the Class 390 will layer onto Birmingham Cross-City Line and Manchester - Hadfield & Glossop to add some AI traffic to Birmingham New Street and Manchester Piccadilly.

    It's just........awful!

A route we've known about for a year plus a TSW3 route we've been playing for almost 2 years. And not a single new loco.

Compared to our British and German colleagues, we have been truly slighted.

The only bright spot is the MBTA route, which IMO was more ahead in development than San Bernardino, and was the launch route instead, it could of made the direct a bit more exciting.

Gotta say i really like what i saw on the stream, especially from a British perspective.

WCML, whilst i was a little sceptical at first about it terminating at Milton Keynes, looks like a really good route to be fair.. the sheer number of services and variety on offer, as well as the 710 and london underground stock being included, this has the potential to feel incredibly immersive.

what really jumped out at me, and was a total surprise when it was revealed, is the Cardiff City Network. I think this is an incredible route option (i was actually considering creating a thread in the suggestions forum requesting this route!) so to see it become reality is amazing. What i thought was missing in tsw was a really good, varied network (not simply an a-b route) with diesel traction, and if you look across the UK there isn't really a better option than Cardiff for this, so huge credit to dtg for going there.

obviously i don't want to get too ahead of myself, as we don't know exactly what lines out of Cardiff (or indeed how many) will be included, but this has such potential i really cannot wait to find out.

I was wondering if i buy the deluxe edition (which i plan on doing) if i have to download everything that comes with it, or if i can choose which parts i download? For example i bought the deluxe edition of tsw4 last year but i only drive British routes, and i was able to not have to download the US and Austrian route, would be nice if that was possible this time around too, as i personally only want WCML and the 390 to begin with.

I'm not sure if there is going to be more revealed about route content on Wednesday or Thursday, but can't wait to read in more detail what exactly we're gonna get!

Only thing that is a bit disappointing at all the announces for me is, that you get the Cajon Pass with the Deluxe bundle. As it has already been a starter for TSW3 it is of no value to loyal Day1 customers

Is anything more shown in the video than in the article? If there is, I might watch it in the weekend.

sorry for repeating the question, but since this thread is now so active, it might have gotten lost - I was comparing DLC lists in my Steam library of TSW4 and 5 - TSW4 has 60, minus 3 which are pre-order cosmetics and such, so 57... but when I check TSW5, it lists only 56, and by comparison I checked that NEC: New York - Trenton isnt there... any idea why? will it be added into the list later or is it sth I should contact support for :) ?

In the XBox store, I see NYT route as part of the Special Edition pack, so the DLC will definitely be there.

I watched the VOD yesterday and I have to say, I really liked the Direct, not just because of the content but hey, it was well made! :)
And personally I was happy to see JD again!

With regards to content my couple of cents:
    - it's a good idea to offer the free upgrade to the new version (I really really really really hope the modders adapt to the new version quite fast and re-release their mendatory mods, looking at you Romansu72 hehe)
    - FRANKFURT!!!!! OFFENBACH!!!! Yes, I'm amazed and a little bit hyped since it'll release next month (personally awaited for years)
    - Green is my favourite colour so the Flixtrain is a no-brainer for me

I looked through the FAQ and started calculating around (DE Bundle 35€ + 16€ for Flixtrain .... hmmm why not take the Standard Edition and receive two more routes [you'll not play that often] for the price of 5€ ...?) well I have some weeks for thinking and this time I don't feel "rubbed the wrong way" and grumpy at all

Guess DTG keeps me as a customer after yesterday

Same here, as far I’m not interested in UK and US stuff I’m deciding if to buy just DE regional edition for 35€ with Flixtrain for 17€, thats 52€ in total. Or Deluxe Edition in presale for 67,5€ thats just 15,5€ more for just… well few times coming to UK/US route to .. enjoy scenery? Aargh, I don’t know, maybe I’ll watch preview streams of both UK and US routes if they make me interested some way to decide spending aditional money after not being interested in this content after what TSW4 Special Edition UK/US content offered.

Yeah there is still a opinion to wait for Black friday or christmas/new year sales as I’ve hopped in in franchise buying TSW4 Special in about 80% sale on PS Store, but at the same time part of me want support DTG for progressing game I play the most, as I did support TSG with buying BR 218 and Expert BR 101 both on first day.

Quite a bit of exciting stuff as well as stuff not really for me.

    For the core routes:
    • Frankfurt - Fulda is quite interesting if only for Frankfurt. Were I in DTGs' shoes, I'd have stayed far away from Frankfurt after the mixed results of Munich Hbf. It'll be interesting to see if they can do Frankfurt Hbf any justice whatsoever. Here's hoping.
    • LA - San Bernadino does not look all that interesting to me. I'm mostly into US freight, not passenger traffic. The bit along the highway looks interesting. For those in the know, is the route more similar to AVL or SFJ? The latter is still one of my favourite routes but somehow AVL never truly clicked with me.
    • WCML is obviously highly requested but since I don't have any real personal connection to it and it's set in modern day, it doesn't really interest me all that much. Doubly so since the focus seems to have been on commuter instead of intercity services.

    For the other stuff:
    • Pendolino - same as the above comment on WCML for me.
    • Flixtrain Vectron - Nice for diversity but not sure if that is worth it for me. Curious to see how their cab layout is different.
    • Mannheim - Kaiserslautern I'm very excited for. Not far away from me so looking forward to some familiar sights.
    • JT's WCML - now this is the WCML that has me excited! Vintage electrics are where it's at for me.
Since both the US and UK routes are a bit 'meh' for me, I might only go with the German pack this time. On the other hand, it's a really good deal for all 3, so might still get all regardless.

Peninsula Corridor as its an urban based line, running east out of Los Angeles thru the sprawl east to San Bernardino.

Only thing is its a bit weird, as its single and double track, and a short segment aligns itself with a UP mainline before branching off.

I'm a little divided when it comes to Achivements.
On the one Hand, I think it's good that the list is no longer endless. On the other hand, I think it's bad that old Routes no longer have achievements.

As an alternative, one could perhaps use generic Achivements for these Routes, for example drive a certain distance in Germany, drive a certain distance in EMU and DMU and so on.

When you pre-order deluxe or special you will get 5 day early acces. Ok fine can't wait.

But what's in the 2 extra Decal Packs?
And what will be new in the Livery Editor?

the thing is, I bought the route for TSW4 right as it was released, so I have it already, in TSW4 DLC listing it is present, but in TSW5 listing it isnt for some reason... dont know why... maybe after release it will add in there? but havent got a definite answer to it yet

I'd also just like to say i loved the way the reveal was done with the direct live stream..
It's really engaging and i loved the ticket reveal with Alex towards the end, that was a really cool way of revealing those!

overall job accomplished dtg, i'm really hyped for tsw5 right now!

    DTG Team:
Might wanna do a spell check on the TSW 5 FAQ page on the website.
I copied it to Word to print it and more than a couple spelling issues popped up in the "spell check."
It's not terrible, and most people PROBABLY won't notice them, but as a proofreader for work they kinda jumped out at me.
("licence", "prodecure", etc) Although I know Brits have different spells from us yanks, so maybe some of them are just cultural differences?
Would just take a few minutes to run it through spellcheck and reupload.
It future proofs it for those who haven't seen it yet.
It's full of good info (hence why I wanted to print it out) but it could be cleaned up if those aren't just cultural differences =-)

These things tend to pop out to me too, having done proofreading now and again. In a similar vein, I noticed a few spelling and grammatical errors on the Class 158 addon page on Steam when I bought it the other day:
    • "the Sprinter is found in less places than before" (less/fewer is a favourite bugbear of mine!)
    • "now compliments the ScotRail roster"
    • "Intergrated snowplough"

  41. So my TSW 4 install will get an update to TSW5, just without the new routes. If so then that is a good sign going forward!

  42. I feel like the game being a free upgrade is the reason why the Class 390 is seperate. A loco like the 390 should be included with WCML.

Yeah, I know. I didn't want to get pedantic on those since you can chalk it up to writing styles. Words like "Sepcial" though... I feel like a lot of people would notice that instead of "Special." Again, not trying to be a jerk about it, just a heads up for them.

Yeah probably. I mean you still get 2 trains (250 and 377) with the route anyway. Three would be a tad greedy. =-)

From the FAQ, it looks like it gives you select options before you do the "hop." Again, could be wrong since I haven't seen it in action in a gameplay video but just going by the FAQ pictures. It shows possible destinations and a "check box" to select what ones you want to connect together.

Haven't written here in a while and haven't played TSW4 much either.
After nearly giving up on ever seeing Frankfurt station ever in TSW, you announce a route with FFM together with TSW5!
Ok, honestly, not more was needed to convince me to buy day ONE!
And then you even have the ICE-T on this route. Oh joy!
But no stopping you with the good news. You also have those cool new features, including one I also kinda given up on. Route hopping! While it's not quite route merging and the details on how well this works, remain to be seen live in game, this is still absolutely great news.
And I'm sure very high on many gamers wish list...

So yeah, consider me impressed, delighted and with a discount for preorder, I didn't need to think for a second, so also consider me a TSW5 owner already.
Can't WAIT to see Frankfurt station in action.

Honestly, this might be the best TSW release yet.(Previously I thought TSW2 was the best)
While yes, the American side is lackluster, UK and Germany got some great routes with great rolling stock.
The free upgrade is especially valuable, as all the new features are good and plentiful, but not game changing like dynamic Wether in TSW3, Livery designer and CC in TSW2 or the TSW4 editor.
I might go with the premium edition as it seems best value for the content that interests me, but might consider to switch to standard or regional for future releases if the prices remain so high.
