Yeah, used to run a custom engine.ini, but with the high performance drop, this might not be a good idea. Maybe we will get the standard timetable and a reduced version (The 8.th gen timetable copy) for the weaker PC's.

Being able to deactivate individual layers could be a real game-changer for performance on lower-mid PC's. Or even just for aesthetics- i'm not generally a fan of steam railtours, so getting a little performance boost while turning off something i don't really want- but if you want everything that can possibly layer in, you have that option too.

Seems like a win-win to me lol.

Really a lot of stuff to like here imo

  3. Glad to see we are going the TSC direction though, even if it seems to be the reason why WCML doesnt include the 390. Hopefully this sticks around.

They had to put something for deluxe as an incentive. If they put a 350 in there, players would complain more. If they put in a 377, even more. A 66, more. You get the idea so the pendo makes the most sense

  6. One thing I am wondering is what happened to that UK Loco that matt said was highly requested like 6 months back. Is it the 390?

Didn't he say 'desirable' though, and then the 380 desiro came out?

UK English has licence (n) and license (v). Good ol' Noah Webster decided that was just too confusing :)

    Pros:
    Timetable Layer Control
Improved Track Shadows * but no TSW5 new routes on the list?
Very cool QoL improvements (like fast travel and more)
    Cons:
No regional versions with discount in pre-order
Deluxe trains "delayed" as separate purchases
    Passenger ops heavly biased
    No multiplayer
    4.x UE still
    Pricing

Well track shadows have been improved on WCML and San Bernardino from tsw5 so the only one missing is Frankfurt - Fulda for some reason.

Gotta say I’m not a fan of this being on a per route basis. This needs to be implemented as core tech ASAP.

The track shadow pop in is horrendous & having some routes with & others without this improvement is only going to make the problem stand out more.

With regards to Route Hopping, I do wonder if there will eventually be special timetables with services that start in one route and end in another. You'd have to get out of the train and interact with, say, an NPC to "pass the baton" or however the inevitable loading screen will be dressed up immersion-wise, but I think this will be really cool to do. We'll finally get some properly lengthy services for that special sense of pride and accomplishment. And hey, that'd make another incentive for people to buy additional Routes.

Right now, it looks like this Route Hopping thing is just saving the 10 seconds needed to dive back into the Main Menu and choose the "On Foot" option on the same station in a different Route.

yeah, I hope so... like starting train in Frankfurt and upon arriving at Fulda, maybe continuing a specific service to either Kassel or Wurzburg (no idea where services that go from Frankfurt to Fulda naturally continue to :D )

Really well done on so many levels. I just hope all of the new features will be ready to go release day and not long afterwards. Otherwise, all I have to say is really really good job, these new features were very well thought out, I love this announcement. Really looking forward.

    If as previously mentioned,
in the free starter pack only the training centre is included,
then why are there three regional starter packs?

The reason that is there is because DTG normally do UK edition, German edition, etc...however, these aren't yet available

but then, Munchen Hbf is also pretty big, tho not as big as that, and while it runs slower, it is playable just fine, so will see... in TSC there is like 15-20 FPS cos the engine sucks and cant utilize some of modern hardware (tried playing Frankfurt Koblenz there)

Quite excited about more Cargo Line packs- they really add much-needed variety to the freight side of things. Keep 'em coming!

Anyone decipher what the ATS route might be?

Layer toggle is a great feature. Reserving judgment on route hopping- have to see how quickly it swaps lol.

There’s separate feed about it in the discussion section. General chat in that section based on the two officially realeased photos is Crewe to Manchester Piccadilly.

Good stuff overall although many of us already knew about WCML and expected it to be Euston to MK.

Standout for me though is the JT route, can't wait to get me hands on this, great to see the old Freightliner's appearing, BR Blue MK3's and of course the 87, hopefully these will be layered into Blackpool Branches as I guess the Euston/Glasgow services on that route with the 47's are just placeholders.

Interesting about layer selections though what I was really hoping for was the option to enable/disable creators club liveries because at the moment once you tick them not to appear, they get completely removed from your list and you have to search for it again and download it again, why can't we just have a simple activate/de-activate button for this?

Also, speaking of placeholders, I wonder if 805/Voyager services are having 390's as placeholders, so at least we get to see Chester/Holyhead/Edinburgh services in timetable mode on WCML modern

Despite all the approval of the new version, DTG has once again made a "blunder":

Regarding Cajon Pass in the Deluxe version. ;)

It looks to me as if they are simply adding the route to the more expensive Deluxe version as a gap filler, which is another "backdoor trick" because most people will have already got the route with TSW3 (me too!). After all, DTG has to somehow justify the 30 € (!) extra charge from the Standard to the Deluxe Edition. If it's going to be a rehash of old coffee, I would have preferred to see a remastered old route (update to TOD4).

But why the Cajon Pass? Was that necessary? :|

Cajon pass is an odd choice but it maybe in line for a remaster in near future, so if people already have it, it'll be a free upgrade

Most likely for "new" players, so they have layers, and can take advantage of the Route swapping feature, at San Bernardino. AVL doesn't offer much since the F125 and Rotem cars are already included in San Bernardino.

The choice of Cajon certainly puzzled me. I mean yes, technically the 390 and Jolly Green Vectron train set amount to £28 if purchased separately so more than the £20 differential between standard and deluxe. However it’s not as good value as allowing users to pick an extra route they don’t already own, of their choice. You could also argue the Class 390 should have been included with WCML and the Vectron Pack with the Fulda route as standard anyway.

I mean I’ve ordered the Deluxe version as I want the new trains, but realistically it should have been pitched at a £15 differential from the Standard pack.

    a) Because it hooks up with the "standard" San Bernadino, for the "route hopping." Otherwise, NEW players wouldn't have any two routes to go together to experience the "hopping"
    b) You already are paying for two new locos for that 30 euros. This makes the route addition basically a bonus.

There are people who don't yet own the route (who may or may not want to) or are new to TSW you know.

There are lots of people who don't own Cajon Pass because they joined in TSW4. Given it adds a lot to San Bernadino, it felt reasonable to add. Last year there were two locos in deluxe and nothing else. We added Cajon this year because we thought it was a worthwhile addition for players who don't have it, otherwise, the plan was to continue with two loco packs in deluxe as before.

Just watched the first part of the Direct presentation while on the exercise bike.

One thing that confused me and maybe I misheard or the bike was making a racket (new one is waiting when I CBA to put it together) was that the free TSW5 upgrade will extend to owners of TSW3? This is of interest to me, as I never got round to buying TSW4 for the PS5 but if true then I need to get in there on 17th September and grab the update. WCML Shap (eventually) on the 65” TV could prove a big temptation.

You can obtain it for free. The free update is free for everyone for 30 days, also for new players without a previous copy of TSW. As it only contains the training center and a few locos this is quite smart of DTG to get new people to try TSW before making a financial commitment.

Edit: you will be able to transfer your previous routes to TSW5 to be clear.

That’s a great deal, then. TSW3 was getting a bit buggy, London Commuter almost every run immediately derailing even with the train stationary.

Yes, the point is that Matt is flat-out wrong in saying that the TSW5 Deluxe Edition has more content than the TSW4 Deluxe Edition.

Yes, that is more than "unfortunate" and the reason, I did not buy the deluxe version.
I really wanted the 5 days early access, but the extra price wasn't worth it to loyal customers who already have Cajun Pass.
Kinda not nice of DTG to do this to the loyal customers.

Thing is, it might not be fair for you; having to pay extra for a route you already have.. but it's ideal for me, since I don't have the route, and most definitely wouldn't have it, had it not been part of thr Deluxe edition.

For example, if it was the Suffragette Line included instead, it then wouldn't be fair for me in that sense, but it could be fair for you assuming you don't have that route.. it's just pure chance really.

Whenever there is a “bundle” of anything for sale, there’s bound to be people who have some of the content, it’s just one of those things. You don’t get any discount. It happens all the time with TSC for example. If you bear in mind that you still get 2 locomotives for £20 extra, which is £10 less than buying the two separately then, if you want both locos, it’s still cheaper and you have not paid any more for the Cajun Pass route that you already have. If you only want one of the extra locos, buy the standard edition and the extra loco is £15 extra so you win either way. It isn’t “not nice” of DTG but very nice to those who don’t already have the route and you lose nothing by buying the deluxe version.

btw during presentations on new Flixtrain Vectron, they showed like 2 pics of DB (freight only) Vectron... in TSW4 I believe we got Railpool Vectron, and in TSW5 we get Flixtrain Vectron... but how or where did DB Vectron pop-up? is this in some addon I dont have or is it included in Flixtrain Vectron loco DLC? I am kinda confused :)

Multiplayer will never come to TSW, it's a single player game - forget about it.
Given the custom UE that TSW runs there is no reason to move to UE5.
Pricing is subjective - Deluxe Edition offers some great value, IF you like all the content.

I should also mention (and can't believe I forgot, oops).

I only purchase the UK stuff so I can't comment on other countries, but yeah the WSR and Cathcart Circle remasters were a total triumph, along with the 380 EMU. A lot of hard work clearly went into them and the team deserve to be applauded.

And say what you want about Fife Circle (Many have), the 170 is a decent piece of kit from Rivet, so yeah that's a success as well.

I think general consensus has been that the Class 170 is an excellent model.

Fife Circle route scenery is pathetic and DTG really need to demand more from Rivet. When you compare Fife to Blackpool Branches it is clearly obvious that either Rivet are using inexperienced Environment Artists, or standards are sloppy and carefree.
