So I have been playing this service with BR 442... just got out of Dresden, got onto the 160 km/h section and then I see a red appearing a couple kms away... so I get more vigilant... as I am approaching the yellow, it turns to green, so I am again vigilant, watching for the yellow telling me to stop, slowing down only a bit And then bam Zwangsbremsung without prior "Acknowledge" warning, and this one said 2000 Hz... I know what 2000 Hz usually means... could it be I was going too fast while the now green signal was still active as if yellow? I mean, I managed to get a lot of 1000 Hz penalty brake applications, but rarely a 2000 Hz... what could have caused it? Or was it just a temporary weird signalling bug?
Yeah that sounds like a GPA: Geschwindigkeits Prüf-Abschnitt. It is set of trackside magnets that measure your speed and if you are going too fast (could be for line speed or for upcoming speed reduction in dangerous areas) you get a 2000Hz Zwangsbremsung.
yea, sounds like one of those sections where there should be a sign for 130 (I believe thats the upcoming speed reduction somewhere at that point), but there really isnt, plus those signals upcoming, and if you act just by the signals and not by the HUD, you could end up like me lol, with an unnecessary penalty brake
ok, so I have been replaying this service to see where I went wrong... first 2000 Hz check is after that signal which is supposed to be double yellow but turns into green, still indicating speed change to 130, and those double magnets like 700m before the speed change check on that, got it, so slowing to 130 it is... but then (nevermind the traction lock icon, I have been testing this from a saved position, and you know how save feature is still, sometimes)... so here I am approaching a series of switches to a certain track same situation, but different outcome... for the one above, I get a 2000 Hz thing, for the one below, I dont... the thing is, there is NO indication I should slow down here, because the flashing green light and subsequent double yellow arent visible at this point, they are like around the corner, behind the trees: me going 120, no indication here I have already gotten the 2000 Hz and made a screenshot so you can see the position of flashing green... I mean, fck... am I blind and have I missed sth before this, or is it just one of situations in DTG routes where the indicator/signal is placed weirdly and you cant see it when you are supposed to?
As I mentioned in the winter survey: it would be very handy if the game would tell you the exact reason why you got a penalty brake.
in this case it was kind of my stupidity and not heeding the signals well enough, but yeah, you are 100% right
