I think I've played enough of this route now to give my full feedback and thoughts.

I think this is the best British route DTG have done for some time. The scenery seems great for the most part, and all the trains are modeled exceptionally well. The interior of the 801 looks fantastic, we've come a long way since the atrocity that is the GX 387 interior, which looks like something out of Roblox.

On the topic of the 801, overall I'm happy with it. As many others have said, there's several issues that need correcting ASAP, however crucially there doesn't seem to be anything fundamentally wrong with it. All the issues seem like relatively minor things that can be fixed by adjusting the volumes. The most major issue physics- wise is that the train rolls away when the reverser is in the off position, seemingly regardless of what position you left the brakes in. The vigilance alarm also goes off when you're in neutral, which it shouldn't do. All the AI 801s seem to have their diesels on too for some reason.

While pretty much all the sounds need to be turned up, I actually think the running sounds in the interior of the cab are great, which is good because they're probably the most important ones. It especially sounds great when decelerating. It's hard to put into words but it just sounds right, like you can actually hear the momentum of the train decreasing. It's a sensation I don't think DTG have captured until now, so well done to them. All they need to do is increase the volume of the traction motors and safety systems, and I think we'd have one of the best trains in TSW.

I don't really have much to say about Flying Scotsman other than I think it's the best model DTG have created. It's gorgeous to look at although the shade of green is probably too bright but that's the only problem with it. It sounds great too although I haven't yet got it above around 60mph. Obviously the loco has it's own issues but they aren't deal breakers and I'm confident they'll be fixed.

What really impressed me with this route however was the stations. They're the best DTG have created in my opinion. The level of detail and care that was put into each one is a cut above what they've done previously. I'm glad they took notice of Rivet's work with Edinburgh- Glasgow and made more waiting rooms accessible, and I love how many genuine LNER posters and notices can be seen around the stations. These feel like LNER operated stations, which is good because most (maybe all of them, can't quite remember) are. The TOC's representation extends to more than just the train, which I think is important.

I also love the very well detailed coffee stalls, and knockoff subway bars. I smiled when I saw the subway shop at Doncaster which I've eaten from before, and the coffee stall at Grantham where a Costa shop stands in real life. This is probably the section of the ECML I know best, so to have such a sense of familiarity when exploring these stations shows that DTG have really done a great job. Let's hope this is the new standard going forward.

Overall, I think there's more with this route to be happy with then unhappy. Just iron out those problems, add in an LNER Swallow liveried Class 91 as DLC and this route will surpass BML as my favourite route in the game.

Found something interesting (which correlates what someone above was saying about coasting): When bring the power handle to the "off" position, often the brakes will actually come on — sometimes as much as 10%, which can really mess up your coasting

Yep this is a glitch only on PS5 because I've been watching PC and XBOX gameplays and they don't seem to have this glitch. So maybe PS5 consoles was shipped with the wrong version.

It would be good to get some confirmation from DT if this is the case with the PS5 version so we know it will be resolved. Many of the issues here seem exclusive to the PS5. I'm also seeing different numbers in terms of available services (only 243 compared to 260) etc. I saw Matt acknowledged that there was a version issue in another thread but suggested this has been resolved. Having redownload the game yesterday evening, I'm still only able to get the 1.007.000 version (which was suggested to be incorrect) with no updates available.

Ah yes, I've just found that in the Scotsman thread. Something still isn't quite right though as you say.

True maybe that the version is right but the ECML version of that isn't.

Azuma: The "Desk illumination" selector does not change anything. Looking at the icon it seems like it should change the brightness of the instruments, but not 100% sure.

Also, the second man reading light (chair on the right in the cab) does not work.

If a lot of players still use an 8th gen console with no intention to upgrade, dtg still have to release on last gen. 8th is still capable of running routes.

This has been an issue with TSW from the beginning; the same problem also affects German trains, which open the same way; and on US trains doors are opened by conductors after the driver unlocks them.

Azuma - The air hoses and cables not moving between the coaches really spoils the immersion. DTG have always done a great job of this. I can’t help but feel this is a mistake that has been missed.

Flying Scotsman - The damper handle in the cab flickers up and down, quite distracting.
The steam pressure barley moves compared to the Jubilee and 8F. Is this accurate to the real loco?
I was able to get Flying Scotsman to nearly 400kph at the training center before I gave up seeing where the limit was. It just never stopped climbing in speed. Is this a bug or a physics issue?

Don’t know if it’s already been discussed but I’m playing the “Hot Seat” scenario and what the hell was that TSR. From memory, got something like a 30 Warning board followed by 30 commencement board and then followed by not one but two 30 Reminder boards for no reason whatsoever. Then a Termination board followed by a SPATE board. It’s like they found pictures of these in the rulebook and decided to throw them in randomly. No magnet for the warning board as there should have been as well. And the distance between the warning board and commencement board was like a couple hundred yards when the approach speed is 125mph! The mind boggles as to what research goes into this before implementation.

Especially AFAIK they have a few professional railway people on the testing team (DadRail for one), that ought to have been picked up.

If you are going to do something like that, then someone needs to be checking the Rule Book. Good job TSW doesn't (yet) simulate single line working with pilotman or setting out a T3 possession!

Yes, hopefully if my theory is correct it should just be to change a few numbers at each crossing and then that's that squashed.
I nearly did that scenario but decided to do a different one and glad I did as that's not great at all. Did it tell you whether there were going to be any TSRs and if so where it was, otherwise I'll steer clear.

Reusing models is all fine. But they could use the window seat in one direction and make it the aisle seat in the other and vice versa. All of a sudden, the problem would no longer appear.

Thanks for the feedback, this issue has been noted by the team and is being looked into.

As a continued reminder for the thread: Azuma 801 volume levels are being looked at by the team and a fix for AWS being too quiet, as well as the alerter volume being low, is already with our beta team.

Is there any plans to fix the PS5 bugs what aren't present on other platforms, as said above by PS5 players.

See 8:40-11:00 of this. At the beginning before you set off, you get a message from someone called Emily Turner saying there may be restrictions on your journey due to heat. The next time you get any message notification is AFTER you pass the commencement board saying that, “You’re now an entering a restriction section” at 8:47 in the clip bearing in mind you got the warning board with no AWS only 7 seconds prior to passing the commencement board. There’s at least one other TSR later in the journey too.

We consistently address issues which are present on single platforms - we create priority lists between all of our game platforms and address them all equally, whether they affect multiple platforms or specific ones :)

I know the signals are a general issue rather than specific for this DLC but they are really poor. Even after passing the AWS magnet which is approx 200 yards, I still struggle to make out the signal. In reality, these should be able to be seen a long, long way back. When I get double yellows, I’m having to put it into full service because I only see it just as I’m approaching it and therefore still doing 60mph past the single yellow. You probably get better visibility of the signal in real life in thick fog!
I had a quick look in the dark and the dark is too dark where you can’t even see the track ahead so trying to judge how far the signal is nearly impossible. Even after passing the AWS, I still really struggled to stop at the red signal because judging it is a nightmare.

Another glitch I found with the flying Scotsman on PS5 is that the fireman seems to be not visible but AGAIN when watching (XBOX,PC) gameplays the fireman is present.

Overall I am really enjoying the route so far. I really like the extra station details added.
My main issue has been the tree pop in when playing in Autumn in Sunny/bright condtions the trees pop in then fade out quite harshly. Has anyone else had this problem? I haven't tried other times/months yet.

    I'm on Xbox Series X.

I'm finding that all of the Ai 801s are using the diesel engine rather than just the Electric traction motors

I'm playing on Steam and have had this issue on all Ai trains at all times

Stations need adding to the mini HUD. When traveling at high speed the barbers pole doesn't provide sufficient notice of the upcoming station to be able to stop in time.

Good morning all I have just been watching a stream about the LNER Azuma and when they were walking through the train I noticed that the 5 car Azuma has not got a onboard shop which should be allocated in coach B standard class on a 5 car set and coach G on a 9 car set, I’m not sure if it is me, there isn’t a onboard shop in the game as coach B on 5 card set dose not show any onboard shop along with the coach letters being wrong way round as Coach A starts in standard not first class.

Im on Xbox one s and I experience a crash on about 40% of services I play.

Also there should be a wind turbine on the hill to the East of Frinkley Lane foot crossing. This is missing from the game.

Yep I had the same issue, went through the speed restrictions at full line speed because there wasn't enough warning in game for me. In reality the Driver would be alerted about the speed restriction locations so they can take action and slow the train down, some form of warning would be nice, I even got the first warning after I'd passed through it.

On my PS5, when I first played it I got a different HUD and a Barbers pole for distance, loading times etc etc, then I got an update and it reverted to the classic style HUD. I personally prefer this classic version but was curious if it's optional and I pressed something by mistake.

I imagine most of these are probably already mentioned so just a +1 from me on bugs/issues:

    • 801 DSD is active in neutral.
    • 801 lights, even in "full", seem to be putting out no light, which is an awful experience at night.
    • Northbound into Retford you are approach controlled, but the final signal before the platform with junction indicator seems to have a missing aspect, which I assume to be a single yellow: on approach we have junction indicator 1 with no colour aspect, which soon changes to junction indicator 1 with a green aspect.
    • 801 cables between end cars are not "live", instead are static/solid objects that disconnect with carriage movement.
    • 801 volume issues already well known and being fixed
    • 801 door close happens immediately without any alarm
    • 801 brakes act extremely fast on door open/close. It doesn't feel like the real one would do it this fast.
    • 801 "next station" display on the right erroneously starts one station later: spawn in 1E06 and the next station is Newark, but opening the doors when you start the service at Doncaster causes the train to think you're at Newark now, so departing Doncaster then changes the next station to Peterborough, which is incorrect. This feature needs to use the spawn station as the "next stop" which will then increment normally on door open/close as we always do at the start of a timetable service.
    • The "signaller" is sometimes very late, stepping up a signal from double yellow to green just as I pass the signal, or sometimes just after. Looking at the new HUD, the step up often happens in pairs. I don't know if the signaller just needs to check/update routes slightly faster on the ECML route due to the high speeds involved.

You can choose HUD type in settings: Normal for the classic HUD, Simple to remove the brake gauges, and Minimal for the Barber Pole.

Class 801: Shouldn't the wiper be parked on the right side by default to be less in the field of view?
The shape of the arm of the wiper let me think so.

Current (unverified by DTG) school of thought on this is that level crossing timers need adjusting so the barriers lower earlier thus not interrupting a clear signal sequence.

This is a very good shout. Just doing another run now and the signals that are delayed all seem to have a level crossing a couple of signals later, so it definitely tallies.
