Settle for mediocrity and that is what you will get. They could still have done ECML but in a different era. Plenty of preserved Deltics about to source traction audio, along with a Paxman HST. Class 47 and 31 already exist that could have layered in.
It sounded a bit like they use the deisil motors when it was in and around the depot. I dunno but I swear I heard a engine.
Yes it was the diesel engine used at the depot. I think it was the only sound they recorded themselves.
Rather than all getting worked up over opinions (and they are opinions, it doesn’t matter how much anyone travels the route), everyone just needs to accept that we aren’t getting KGX - PBO in the near future.
And again, after driving it last night in TSC, got to say what we are getting likely to be much more enjoyable. Especially once someone recreates the 1975 timetable with Class 47's and Class 31's working everything!
Quite honestly I can't give an exact answer to that because I don't really know as when your at that speed I don't even think about using 1 and you have the speed set to 124.xxmph (125) which means that you bang it in full but it won't go above 124.xxmph and even if speed set wasn't a thing the units are limited to 124.xxmph these days anyway due to management not liking the little accidents we kept on having! What I do know is that they may or may not have seamlessly glided to 130 in 2 on the racetrack before they were limited so not out the question. When you are sitting there at 125 it does feel very much like sitting in a sports car at 70 on a motorway as they are very powerful things. I remember the first time I ever had one I had been on a HST before and the face I pulled after actually experiencing that power in them for the first time must have been a picture!
Must admit, I do quite enjoy reading these comments between the crews and drivers of trains and those that "travel the route (somewhat) regularly and claim to know it well. As long as the route isn't dead flat, with nothing to do for 10/15 minutes at a time, it'll be decent. If it's just max power, sit on limiter and wait for 20 minutes, this route will only be good as a "time filler" while watching netflix
It’s a mainline so there’s loads of that, majority of the runs on the route are going to be 125mph down a straight for extended periods of time. Doesn’t matter what section you have, they’ll all have plenty of that.
Not wanting to offend but I think a third route with *yet another* HST before any other types of 'modern' diesels would be in danger of going into the dangerously overwhelming Electrostar-esque territory. We need the 150 (reworked), 153, 156, 170, and some of the lesser common ones, before another HST variant
I agree, but at least if there was another HST variant People wouldn't be complaining about electrostars.
I'm down for all of those! Maybe we could get an updated hst with sliding doors tho? So for all those trains you could do: Glasgow Queen Street to Oban with class 153 and Class 156 Edinburgh/Glasgow extension to Stirling with class 170 and ScotRail Inter7city HST West Cornwall local extension to Plymouth with New GWR hst and re-worked GWR class 150 There, everyone's happy!
I doubt we will ever get another route extension. DTG were clear with Sehs-X that it was almost a one off and I'm sure Matt also said going down the path of route dlcs for routes wasn't an option they really wanted, as it restricts the market. And there's nothing worse than owning a route, and then having a *new* route come out and it adds a tiny section and you have to pay again. (Looking at you North London Line of TSC when the Goblin got added and it was *another* £25) On the WCL one, I really hope we get alot more routes before we start seeing existing routes in other eras too.
Rivet have said due to the popularity of requests for an Edinburgh/Glasgow extension they might actually concider making it.
See, now that I know this, I'll stop playing E-G because it'll be a new route or at best, new timetable and my existing one will be overwritten. And I've done a hell of a lot of the routes. Also, is there a source for this?
Just noticed in the latest image shared to social media - crew door next to kitchen is still wrong colour. You’ve done it grey the same as all other doors. It’s not, it’s the same colour as the rest of the train. I’ve uploaded said latest image and pic of actual Azuma crew door.
Given Thomson Interactive (who I believe are still associated with Rivet) have just done Glasgow to Dunblane for TSC, modern era also with a 385, so that is a possibility. Not really my era but it would make the prospect of buying the route slightly more appealing than it's current one handled, letterbox view, one train A to B fest.
It'd give the route a better overall feel, and also, would be nice to see Stirling, Alloa and Dunblane, and also adds the possibility for Rivet to turn it into a proper little network with A reskinned 158 and an Azuma between Edinburgh and Stirling. Although, if they rework (and charge for the) route, then I would like Falkirk Gram added too, get that route in too
I'm hoping that's from an earlier build. I'd be very concerned about the rest of the train if they apparently paid such little attention to detail despite having direct access to a real example.
stream is in just over 3 hours, so we should find out soon! i also hope for the best and that its already been fixed for release
Just to add on that the crew door also appears to be grey in the preview sound thing for the 801 too. I am not going to have a fit about it as I'd much rather this be wrong than the sounds/physics but it is something that ought to be corrected.
I'm actually gonna avoid the stream. I've already pre ordered so it serves no purpose for me, and I'm kind of tired of the current format of preview streams, with the hosts constantly talking over gameplay. I'd much rather they upload a pre recorded run with no commentary, and then have a sort of Q and A/ discussion stream for the route specifically. I also want to go into a route I'm excited for blind for once. A lot of the time my opinions have already been somewhat swayed by stuff I've seen in previews, plus what's being discussed on these forums, so I already have an opinion before I've even played it.
Yup, I feel like Matt/CoHost will go quiet to show off the soundset, then a CM chimes in with an unrelated tangent or question time, trying to fill the silence. Happens every bloody time they do an exterior departure, even when Matt lets them know, that’s what he’s doing, they can’t hold their tongue for more than 20 seconds. Bloody annoying.
Well there's enough going for me with TSW4 that I wouldn't cancel the order if the Azuma sounds do turn out to be poor, but I shall probably just end up watching the highlights later or tomorrow morning. The streams are a bit like peeking at your presents before Christmas morning.
Edited for staff door. Nice. One immediate thing which sticks out is the pantograph. In the preview they’re running front pan up whereas in reality they run rear pan up (unless there’s a defect etc). Just a little detail but man.
Staff door kitchen. Is grey. Shouldn’t be. Should be same as side of coach. I’ve done a post with comparison pics. Plus I know those doors well because I literally work on them
The sounds seem good. But there’s a lot of questions I have, like why no York, and the cable connectors are annoying
Unless they planned to announce it, which I believe if they were it would have been when TSW4 was, the answer would probably only be “if it’s not on the roadmap” or “we would like to its just not coming right now”
On the 801 section of stream, when walking around cafes at Peterborough, could have swore I seen a character fall out of the sky onto the track. That and the cable connectors between carriages on external view pulling out of Doncaster at beginning of stream, should really be getting that right. Where were the class 700’s at Peterborough also?
Overall the route isn’t bad, azuma sounds are better than what I was expecting, PIS needs tweaking, and Scotsman is decent
I am not at home tonight and only just managed to get some internet, so haven't seen any of the stream yet. Initial feedback here and from the grandchildren back in Lincs seems good though.
Route overall did look very good & I can’t wait to run the 158 along it. The biggest thing that put me off though was Matt & Jamie trying to (successfully in most cases) talk over each other.
