In the mid-1950s GM tried to make a fast, lightweight trainset to compete with automobiles. The train was made of aluminum and featured bus bodies, each riding on two axles and featuring air suspension. The loco produced 1200HP with an EMD 567 Prime Mover. While the design, the Aerotrain, was quite impressive with its sleek streamlined diesel locomotive with its aircraft-styled nose and rear fins on the observation car, the train was ultimately a failure. The locomotive was underpowered and required helpers over steep grades, like Cajon Pass. Passengers complained about the rough ride quality. Eventually, the trains were retired. The good thing is that two locomotives and a few coaches survive in museums.

EMD actually produced three Aerotrain consists. They were used by the Pennsylvania RR (Pennsy), the New York Central, the Union Pacific (City of Las Vegas), the Santa Fe RR (San Diegan), and eventually, the Rock Island RR (Jet Rocket).

An Aerotrain Set for TSW6 could be cool. We'd need a 1950s-60s PRR, UP LA or Las Vegas-area Route (my local line, as I'm from Vegas), ATSF San Diego-LA Route (classic Surfliner Route), or Rock Island route. We do have Cajon Pass, so we could get the City of LV Aerotrain in game for that route. The LA-SD Surfline is needed in game. The PRR Aerotrain ran between Pittsburg and New York City (we have Horseshoe Curve in game, so the Aerotrain would be perfect for a backdated 1950s PRR version of the route). The NYC RR ran the train between Detroit and Chicago. That route would be great to see too.
