    Depends really.

If the VR injector works really nicely and there’s some very good DLC along with an insane discount on TSW4, I may just buy it at that point. Failing that I genuinely might wait until TSW5 which may, laughably, be next year so not too long to wait.

I for one only ever bought TSW and TSW2. I'm a US passenger guy so I was only ever really interested in the CalTrain Peninsula Corridor which worked pretty good in TSW, with some minor bugs, but nothing that stopped me from wanting to play it. Once TSW2 came out and it was reported that all your routes and DLC from the original TSW would carry over, I was excited as it was promised it would have better optimization and features as well as some other updates. Which I thought would be great on the CalTrain route. I was beyond disappointed and rather annoyed that I had basically bought TSW2 for one route and some DLC (Baby Bullet) as well as some minor new features and updates. Needless to say, the route basically became unplayable on TSW2 with the amount of bugs that suddenly existed. The base route and equipment had bugs now and the Baby Bullet DLC was virtually unplayable. This only got even worse on TSW3, which I never bought.

After this, I gave up on the TSW franchise and shifted my focus back to TS Classic and the Pacific Surfliner, basically the only route I run on there. And with its new freeware update with massive changes and bringing it up to 2023 standards, it's far superior to the original 2013 release. I really had no plans of purchasing another TSW after reading all the issues after every single release of DLC or after TSW3 was released. Not to mention Raildriver never worked with TSW or TSW2 and was buggy for quite some time on TSW3. It just wasn't worth it for me. I had ZERO plans to purchase TSW4 until I saw the Metrolink route and the potential future expansions that could bring. And the fact that Raildriver seems like it will work better on it and having the joystick support now from Cobra, it should tie everything together nicely.

So here I am, doing what I said I wasn't going to do again, buying another TSW for one route and all the updates and new features, as well as the potential for the future expansions that could come along with it like the 2 US routes that will release after launch. I have a pretty high end gaming PC so I'm hoping that performance won't be too much of an issue but it really boils down to how well the game is optimized. So far, I'm on the fence. It could go either way and I could end up regretting the decision. The previews of the Metrolink Antelope Valley Line look really good, although there's already some bugs, fairly obvious ones, even before release. Now I know all the previews are subject to change before release but will DTG actually listen to us when we report what we've already seen wrong? I don't understand how you take 55 hours of sound recordings and still manage to mess up the bell on the F125 locomotive for example. It would be obvious that the bell you put into TSW is not correct to the actual thing. I'm pretty dang familiar with the Amtrak and Metrolink operation out of Los Angeles so any of these errors and bugs are gonna stand out like a sore thumb to me. Anyways, enough said. Yes, I'll be buying TSW4 hoping I don't regret the decision and that DTG has actually made it worth it. I guess the jury is still out.

TSW2 Rapid Transit has less issues, it seems like the pantograph is not set and handbrake is engaged more often in TSW3. Prior to 2023 I had zero issues on Rapids Transit that I can remember.

  5. I bought it this year!

    Works for me!!!

    Release the park brake ROFL!!!

The only issue I don't like is the LOOPING horn on the train. It's very annoying and the sounds are being "reused" on the ÖBB 4024 Talent which is disappointing.

I completely agree with you on this point. DTG will only change their business model if they are forced to by either another serious contender entering the marketplace or by declining sales, due to a dissatisfied customer base.

While some companies, such as Hello Games, garner much respect and praise due to offering major dlc expansions and core updates completely for free most do not. DTG definitely fall into the latter camp.

  16. TSW3 was well received in the gaming community and got a resounding affirmation as excellent.

The things people complain about are in general issues of operating locomotives and some small tiny things that could be adjusted. Not really bugs.

    Bugs and quickly resolved.

For consoles it takes a bit longer.

I went and bought Midland Mainline when I saw the massive amount of complaints.

    Guess what?

Maybe an AWS issue here or there (now resolved) but the route is very enjoyable.

While I am enjoying the German routes at moment I love the US and UK routes as well.

    It is what it is.

  17. One example is someone was complaining about a bug and it was about the fact you needed to sit in the locomotive first (to claim ownership so the game recognizes you) so you could start it up from cold and dark.

I have discovered other issues too which people complain about and more often than not they are a result of users not understanding how to operate them (do the tutorials) or not understanding how TSW3 works.

You can read through the technical reports which people post and you will notice the bugs people can find. an example would be the etcs bug on Luzern-sursee where the train will just receive a random emergency brake without warning.
Here is a thread which mentions it: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/luzern-sursee-etcs.72772/
bugs such as the BR 143 tutorial on Dresden to riesa have been broken since the start of tsw3,
here is a report in September (edit: September 2022) around when the game released, and its only just about to be fixed now: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/db-br-143-tutorial.59537/

  20. Dresden Riesa is one of my favourites!! Epic route!! Yes it's a bug. Does it impact my gameplay? No

Does it break the game? No

I am still very happy with my purchase!! TSW3 AND TSW4!!

TSW4 isn't released yet so its hard to judge,
it might not impact you but it does to others
i can list 5 other bugs which cause impact to gameplay:
    - Services on LGV which are broken such as TGV6169 and TGV6175 which route you to the incorrect platform at Marseille: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/lgv-mediterranée-route-glitch.70625/
    - Services for the Baby Bullet bi level cab car dont show up when you select cab car: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/th...la-corridor-timetable-list.65544/#post-614051
    - GWR wipers are broken so you cant see through the window in rain: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/gwe-hst-wipers-broken.71299/
    - Save game has a bunch of issues and there is a whole thread about it: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/save-game-feedback-thread.59567/page-2
    - LIRR safety systems randomly putting the emergency brake: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/lirr-m3-safety-system-issue.62716/
You can use these instead of my example as a game impacting bug

You have to be kidding, right? Some of the bugs date all the way back to 2017 (e.g. horn bug) and are still present in new releases.

And posting one review from some guy somewhere is not exactly a trustworthy measurement of a game's quality. Hate to break it to you, but sometimes reviews from journalists are not exactly honest.

I love your enthusiasm and positive outlook SD40Australia – but, for example, you made out like there were no bugs on Midland Mainline and everyone else was kicking up a fuss for nothing when literally the developers themselves were saying they were working on all the bugs and even opened their own thread about it, for bug reporting and feedback on the bugs they blatantly acknowledged as present in the route...

    How about this.

In TSW3, every time I do a Javelin service the game crashes when I reach Stratford International. Makes all these services unplayable, as well as others that go through the same station.

if that doesnt break the game (where 406 services out of 1,443 are unplayable), then what does?

Because as far as I see it, that is a lot. Pretty game breaking, don't you think?

I'm really confused by the notion that things should be included in free core update...why is there this expectation? I think DTG could help themselves by being a bit more open about their business model for TSW, but I have no issues with buying an annual update if I feel it's worth it. When it is not, I will stop, but it won't be this year (really looking forward to TSW4)

From past observations, you will shortly be told that this doesn't happen because it hasn't been noticed by another person, so therefore the problem doesn't exist or at least should not bother you as it doesn't affect them.

The irony of your statement is that they will demand their game breaking bugs are fixed whilst shooting other people down.

I certainly wouldn't say it wasn't happening. However if it was a common occurrence I am pretty sure we would have heard about it on here in the last 12 months!

If it is one or two people having a particular problem, I would imagine it would be hard for DTG for find the cause and probably wouldn't be regarded as universally game breaking, even though it is for those concerned.

Yes, this is exactly how it works in development; the team have to be able to reproduce a bug first, and that's less likely if an issue seems localised.

But my post was just a bit of a generalised pee-take over a typical response to all bugs being raised...

Same here best route I’m looking forward to is Blackpool Preston route(finally pacers), Peterborough route and the new scenario planner

I’ve rarely experienced any issues playing the the current game I can only think of two:

377 back door bug and passengers past the yellow line on platforms when your racing past them at 100mph

Whilst I hope the do eventually fix them this will not be enough to make me not buy it will definitely be buying 4th game I’m not going to be influenced to not buy tsw4 by some hate thread I’ll judge the game when it releases for myself thank you

  47. If the flickering was sorted all my woes would evaporate. It's manageable now with heavy tweaking but the sight of flickering lamp posts, fences, wires etc has caused me to uninstal more than once.. stuttering comes a close second.

I'm sorry, but you're really not seeing the world and this game through the proper lens. It has been stated many times before by somebody who claims to be an actual train driver IRL: This is a perfect game an universally praised and adored by users and critics alike. Your game crashes? Well it doesn't happen to him so it doesn't happen at all. You must clearly be making up stories. Either that or you're truly not embracing this wonderful feature in the game. Rather than completing your route you get transported back to your desktop so that you can admire the image you have placed there. What an incredible feature! I hope they add more of these Easter eggs as I'd gladly pay them 10 times the current cost to have that in my library!

Rivet's TS1938 stock sound is still all kinds of wrong. Particularly in passenger compartments where turning 90 degrees reduces tunnel and track noises on both sides. Do I win a holiday in Australia then? Should I stop scan-reading whole threads?
