I'd love it if the route actually made it onto the game! Even if it was reduced in size, so it only contained the NYMR, Whitby and Battersby, I'd still be happy.
It’s be great if it went all the way up to Middlesbrough as the existing 158 could be used and a new 156 northern stock
Hi everyone. Sorry for being quiet on the forum post but things have been happening in the background. So I have some exciting news to share. I have been accepted as an official developer which means that when I have completed the project I can release it on all platforms. This does mean however that I have to respect certain ways of doing things. With this in mind, and as I wont be using the public editor anymore, I wont be able to share any more updates on the project until myself and DTG are ready. As you can imagine this is a very large project, so this will take a long time. Thank you for all of your support and I look forward to sharing the project with everyone across all platforms at some point in the future. Regards Andy
This is brilliant news mate, good on you! I do look forward to it coming to the game, no matter how long it takes you.
Great news and good luck with progress, it should be a fantastic route when completed - is NYMR in on the project too?
Congrats, Andy. Now you got access to the real tools and support, and your project has the chance to be available for all to enjoy!
Congratulations Andy! I hope you make everyone happy when the route gets realised, I hope with various reskins and new locos/ units
Allow me to just scrape my jaw up off the floor. Well done you! I knew this would happen. I can’t wait to get my hands on this! Keep up the bloody fantastic work!
Hoping this route will be on one of the Festive reveals in conjunction with the (hopefully) return of steam
Esk Valley line Runs from Middlesbrough to Whitby with the NYMR heritage branch line at Grosmont. They often run steam to Whitby, or they used to anyway.
Middlesbrough to Whitby is a mainline route. The NYMR is a heritage line that shares part of the mainline from Grosmount to Whitby.
I'm sure they have services to carlisle also from whitby. Saw a couple when I was there earlier this year
I've never visited this area of the forums before, as i only play on console (PS5) and as much as i love the idea of creating my own route it would in truth be far beyond my abilities.. but i heard this particular route (the Middlesbrough to Whitby line, with NYMR) has been selected by DTG to eventually be released as a DLC for everyone, including myself on console. i just wanted to say I love what i've seen here so far, i think it's such an interesting choice of route especially with the different signalling system in place. I always say timetable mode is key to any DLC but here i'd say that's really not the case, if the scenery and immersion is of a high quality (and based on what i've seen and read it certainly seems to be) this has such huge potential as being a really great route to drive, and maybe could pave the way for other routes that are very scenic but sparsely-populated timetable wise (Inverness-Kyle of Lochalsh Line comes to mind as really immersive but really quiet). really looking forward to seeing this route develop, it's the kind of route where if i have an hour and a half spare and want to relax into a scenic and more relaxed pace of route, it'd be a really great way to spend my time.. can't wait to hear more about this development for sure!
Go to “Casual Rail” on YouTube. I’ve made a video about this DLC and what we’re likely to see! And will be following it up shortly with a more in depth look!
I've only just found out this is going to be an official project and I have to say i'm quite excited for this one! The NYMR is a lovely route and more Northern content is sorely needed in TSW. I guess a 156 would have to be made for it which is exciting. I wish the dev(s) the best
Agreed, this will be a day one purchase for me. The Tees Valley route is already one of my favourites and this will link up nicely with it.
I think it’ll definitely be this year, judging on just trains doing a longer route in less than a year
true but getting any licenses could push the release date back aswell as possibly creating any new trains
Realistically all I think loco wise they would do is a Black 5, very maybe the 9F, their 47, (ntp model most likely), and probably the other diesels from NTP like they did with WSR.
I doubt this will be the re-introduction of steam in TSW.. We would most likely see another Diesel Gala like we saw on WSR although this could give the devs the chance to give us more diesel locomotives like the Class 55 and 50 or a Steam Gala using the existing steam locomotives
I think Andy is keen to make some new steam locomotives, he did it with the nymr version he made for train simulator
Reskin the class 08, 31, 47 and 101, then make the class 25 and the pair of black 5s. Then possibly a Nymr rolling stock pack in g Th e future.
The one thing I'm interested in is how the timetable will look, given it's two separate entities with effectively 3 different services: Northern services along the Esk Valley, NYMR heritage services from both Grosmont to Pickering and Grosmont to Whitby. Will they all be grouped together or separate (especially if there is separate Steam and Diesel ones for the NYMR like the Remastered WSR)?
I'm guessing it would be done the same way that DTG did the timetables on routes such as WSR and ECW where after selecting 'Timetable Mode' you are asked to select a timetable. On WSR, there is one timetable which is the original Diesel Gala timetable and the other is the Steam Gala timetable that came with the remaster. ECW has a similar thing where you have one timetable that came with the route on release and the other was a version that came with the Class 313 DLC. the Pickering - Grosmont services & Grosmont - Whitby services will most likely be part of the same timetable but probably two different services as not all NYMR services go into Whitby
