Fictional Or Half-fictional Routes: Would You Buy It?

Discussion in 'TSW General Discussion' started by RobertSchulz, May 25, 2024.

?
  1. Yes, I'm open for it.

  2. No, never.

  3. Only if the price tag would be not as high as regular routes. (Maybe specify in the comments)

  4. Depends on the fictional or half-fictional route.

  5. Completely fictional routes yes, but no half-fictional routes.

If I working for/with DTG I think the only route I'll make is real: for what I know they're interested only in real line, they want to keep safe any contracts with rail operators (especially if someone create a LIRR based network without safety system in it, this is a recently discussion) and maybe can Help you with a license of a specific train....
So in that case the best think I can have is building something real....
But if you're alone and do it in your free time maybe it can be free

I always keep an eye on the Holiday express, the first and yet only fictional route DTG released. I think the DLC does not use a logo of a real operator, the locos are branded with fictional "Richie Rails" logos. Yet it kind of uses a real train, the F7. If one has the skills, it might be possible to get a fictional livery like that on a real based train for a fictional route to not infringe any trademark laws and harm contracts.

I’m interested in routes that maintain a certain level of realism so I wouldn’t want unicorns and flying trains… but I am fine with mixing in occasional fictional routes that attempt to capture the spirit of a region/time period.

Give me some old school US stuff on a fictional route that mimics a Midwestern setting and it’s possible we end up with something more enjoyable than what exists in real life.

What you quoted of what I wrote is called decontextualizing. And magically what I wrote completely changes meaning. ;)

You talked about financial problems assuming that the route developer ran out of resources to close a realistic project...

I reversed the problem, assuming that I, the customer, did not have enough money.

My problem, of course if I had financial problems the developer would not come to my aid. Without ifs and buts. ;)
