Umpteen posts on the chat during the live stream that the steps on the doors did not retract, which went unacknowledged by Matt, Jasper and Jamie, either that they'd read the comments, or more importantly that it's clearly unsafe for awaiting passengers! We know that TSW NPCs have no inkling of H&S at the best of times!
Having had a look at British Rail Class 170 - Wikipedia it does appear that the steps DO NOT retract after all. Why couldn't the team just acknowledge this during the live stream, instead of letting multiple posts generate? Admittedly, they were busy fire-fighting other more pressing issues (wrong build, no announcements etc.) at the time.
Sorry, but that’s a silly criticism and has no affect on the product being showcased. No need to attack Matt on his gaming abilities. It’s a game and not real life. Focusing on the quality of the route is what’s important here, and should be the main form of discussion here.
I thought the whole stream was poor. Matt thought it funny to roll the countdown to start a second time, and Jamie's style of presentation was very laughy and jokey, I'm sure Alex would have led the stream in a more streamlined manner. No one had clearly checked that Matt had the latest build of the route (or it was an aside to try and divert criticism). No announcements, No planes at the airport, No boats/ships on the river, what looked like old vegetation assets popping in late and a very empty timetable with little variation, zero services do the circle? the 37 and 66 need adding to enhance gameplay and variety, even if they deviate slightly from true timetable realism. The route feels lonely and boring, especially given the impressive Blackpool Branches and Goblin Line.
Jamie’s presentation is very poor imo. He is my least liked presenter. Certainly wasn’t up to the job last night. No ships or boats but we get that highly requested feature of working escalators
I don't think it's completely silly. As I said, I want to know how the train sounds like in a power setting that isn't notch 7, and I actually want to see the route instead of him showing us around the map, and missing a stop as a result. Not to mention spending the beginning of the stream gawping at escalators and exploring a station that's already in the game.
I kinda get the throwing into notch 7 point. I remember they did this for the class 323 in TSC a few years back, which had good audio if you hit max power whenever accelerating but if you didn't max the throttle the audio would cut out until you hit a certain speed. If it's a repeat of that, there's a lot to be concerned about.
I wouldn't call myself a fortune teller but my doubts clearly were justified given their past history in this franchise. Previously any criticisms prior to the stream such as the sounds were meant with people defending this route like their life depended on it. One person told me to go away essentially because I said the sounds of the 170 were awful. Some said that even the sounds are bad, the scenery and modeling was nice which was true for what we saw at the time. Now most people that defended this route have done a complete 180 given that the route clearly has too many issues. Even though there may be a few that say it's not right to call this route a mess or will still try to defend this, it's clear that they are in the minority as I've never seen this much backlash to a route before in my time on these forums. The criticisms are not just on the forums either. I don't want routes to do bad or Rivet to fail but it's clear that they often don't do the work to make a good quality product, cut corners and rush releases out the door too many times.
I can see both your points with Matt spamming the notch 7 mostly, but there were plenty of times in the stream where you can hear the train at different power levels, not many though. I don’t think it’s going to make much of a difference though, people have already made their minds up about this route and are staying well clear. I’m going to check out an ambassadors stream the day before launch to see if all the issues have been improved, it will determine whether or not I buy the route the following day.
Jamie was the wrong team member for that stream. It’s clear they knew it wasn’t ready and were firefighting. Alex would’ve kept the show slicker and to be honest, probably answered more questions.
Which is precisely what wasn't being said. They were pointing out that you couldn't expect DTG or Rivet staff to be replying that late!
I wasn't expecting them to reply that late, at what point did I say I wanted an instant response? I posted at that time because that's when I had the time to post. Am I supposed to wait until they are in their offices before posting or something?
I don’t dislike Jamie or anything, but I agree he’s not the guy to use when showcasing new content. I miss JD so much, he’s the fella we needed. I wonder why he doesn’t do live streams anymore?
No one said YOU can’t post here during office hours. You complained about having no response from DTG nor developers. THEY will work office hours so why would they come and post here at midnight.
At no point did I say I wanted an instant response from them. Try reading properly, you might actually get somewhere.
The above is what you said. Some level of fairness surely is required not withstanding how bad the route is/may be
I know that devs sometimes need a constructive list of criticisms, but if Rivet employees are looking at the route & can’t work out where drastic changes are needed, then Rivet are in serious bother.
They deleted this response but it's so tone deaf. I guess it's our fault the wrong build was shown silly us!
Try thinking before you post at midnight complaint DTG or rivet made no post between the stream ending and midnight which is outside office hours!
And for the third time.......... I did not ask for an instant response. I posted at midnight because that's when I had the time to post. They can reply if and when they have time. I don't care!
So if they can repot if and when they have time. Why post your little rant about them not having the bottle to come here and comment. That’s a total contradiction to both your points.
Ok, let\s calm down. coldo121, your post last night came across as if you expected an instant response to all the feedback and the fact that it wasn't forthcoming showed, to you at least, that Rivet and DTG were too 'scared' to respond. Perhaps you didn't intend it to come across like that but clearly it did, including to me. Let's just move on.
One of the other disappointments is the timetable, whether there is deliberate gaps due to the 158, but you only have to look at Realtime Trains to see the gaps in the TSW timetable. A shame, as we had the same situation on Edinburgh to Glasgow.
I've had an account here since 2018, hardly new, I just don't post very often because I've usually got more important things to do.
So glad I bought Goblin now and reluctant to buy this route until improvements have been made. Goblin may "only be a one trick EMU route," but at least its been made with care and attention, and as I like the 710 will bring many hours of fun. This route however is rushed at best.
Interesting... Some sort of internal ruckus at Rivet, perhaps? Or they are about to acknowledge the route is sub par and pull the release.
After looking into it and where the infamous screenshot shows “no airport”, Matt is actually much further along when he panned. Not saying the airport is great but the field that he looks into is not the airport. It’s at least 3-4 fields north of the airport by the time he turns round. This isn’t a defence, just a clarification.
I mean, they closed the Q&A thread and they didn't answer us!? This is serious! They obviously don't know how to answer us...
I don’t blame them tbh. I think they have the message by now and will be on damage control. I think it’s best folk maybe see what the outcome is now given that I imagine they probably had a because bollocking from DTG brand management
Crikey. I appear to be one of the first to read the response from both Rivet and DTG. (See top thread). Usually I'm last to the party. This makes a nice change We'll see what happens next week.
They never answer in QandA threads they are for questions to be asked in stream this one is no different to others.
Not a fan of the announcements, there really needs to be an option to switch them off added at some point
They said in the stream they couldn’t be turned off… Maybe it will be optional in an update but doubt it.
Hey there, closing Q&A threads after the stream is done is something we've been doing for a while now, as those threads are for gathering questions for said stream. We usually post a summary of the questions a bit later, including questions that we couldn't get to during the stream. As always, not all questions will be answered, but we are doing our best to get to as many as we can. There is still the official Coming Soon Thread and as soon as the route releases there'll be a feedback thread. So this isn't about censoring, but forum maintenance. And, as Alex said earlier, there will be more news soon. I hope that helped clear things up. All the best, Jan
Alex posted this on Q&A: Hello everyone - I want to share our recent update from Rivet Games for Fife Circle in this thread: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/an-update-on-the-fife-circle-line.79952/
Stinks of Q1 results rushing the release. I can guarantee if you buy this, you'll be wondering where the updates are in a years time. Shame as Goblin and Blackpool were great.
