if you ever got to edinburgh again be sure to take the lift up to princess street you get some really nice views from that.
• Rain not on drivers windscreen • Neutral Sections randomly applying brakes • Poor train sounds • Poorer sounds with the internal cab door opened, as if it was an external one. • Announcements not recognised when you’ve arrived at destination • Announcement not recognising if you change ends and want to take the service back • Missing late night services • Incorrect stopping patterns on alternate rush hour services • Platform PIS cutting off Waverley • Platform PIS not showing off route stops on Alloa & Dunblane services Exterior door lights not turning on when you open doors Gaurds door being locked out of use
I think that's on the Dalmeny side of the bridge and that might be why. The photo there from Wikipedia I think is from the North Queensferry Side.
Pink Scottish ballast, akin to that on midland Mainline. (Don't ask why Scottish ballast is used on midland Mainline. Idk, XD. I just know it's Scottish apparently)
There. Think I've caught up. The screenshot of a bridge looks promising, albeit, a few minor changes needing made.
Assuming I can overcome my Rivet anathema and buy this, hopefully an enterprising developer will jump in with a Class 68 loco hauled set of coaches which will be more interesting to drive than the 170.
Good morning everyone, It's great that this announcement sparked such a lively discussion, just goes to show how diverse our community really is. To then see these healthy discussions disrupted by pointless bickering and arguments is very disheartening. I would, once again, like to ask you to disengage from these unnecessary arguments instead of doubling down and dragging them on. There is no point in winning arguments against strangers on the internet, there are better ways to spend your time. So please, if you just absolutely cannot see eye to eye, put that person on your ignore list and move on. I will go through this thread and remove posts that are derailing, to make navigation easier for those that are interested in actual dialogue. All the best, Jan
Both pictures are very much on the same side. This is the NQ side: Although, I now realise what they've done. They've modelled the building that's on the northern side and put it on the south as well.
LucaZone, note the different door sounds on the ScotRail class 158. (The video is of a GWR class 158 because I could not find one of the ScotRail 158 door sounds but I can assure you that they are the same.) https://youtube.com/shorts/Zy8HFiq0Uvo?si=l6On9RrEy0vTq1E2
Just to show the difference; Also, here's South Gyle station on the Edinburgh-Glasgow Route; And also, here's Edinburgh and Haymarket (from EDN, of course) for anyone who hasn't seen them in TSW before:
Oooohhh! So it's your class 158 livery I got of cc! (Please make one without the decals. Those things make me sick.) Well Waverley has certainly got an improvement. Look forward to seeing what else rivet have done with this route.
Very nice !!. The pic showing Waverley from above during the day could be mistaken for a real life photo. It could just be the time of day but I think the Glass roof looks better and more transparent in the updated pic with the Main Entrance vs. Before.
I'm so hyped for this route! I love the 158 and the 170 on TSC was one of my favourites to drive. (When I did play it)
Same. Edinburgh - Glasgow and the Fife Circle are my most driven routes in TS Classic. Know both of them like the back of my hand. One small concern I have with the TSW iteration of the line is how distant scenery will be rendered when crossing the Forth Bridge. The route in TS Classic suffers greatly from poor distant scenery when crossing the bridge and TSW has a pop in issue as we all know.
We know there are ways to make certain assets pop into view sooner, it’s happened on a few routes. Given that the FRB is only a couple of KM long, it should be a none existent issue. Unfortunately I suspect it will be an issue though.
My only issue is really is with the sounds especially with Rivet making the 170 look at the 150 and 385 the sound on them still haven't been fixed hopefully they get it right
Got my bagpipes ready and raring to go in anticipation for this route. I’m hoping Rivet can pull off the 170. If they can then they’re half way there in getting my money.
The 150 doesn’t sound right but IMO it’s the best soundset Rivet have done. Most their stuff has a lot of bass & sounds contaminated, for lack of a better word. They just don’t seem refined at all. The FLIRT & Allegra are 2 of the biggest perpetrators of this. Given how long the 170 has been around & AP having done their work with them too, there shouldn’t be a reason that the sounds can be messed up. The physics worry me too, Rivet has a real problem with train setup overall.
Yes, I recently acquired the E-G ( at <half price of course) and, while the route itself, if rather bland, is fairly well- modeled, the 385 is a very strange train to drive, with it's teeny- weeny claustrophobic aperture offering no view of the surrounding area and a running sound that reminds me of the sound you hear when entering a car wash. The 170, being a dmu with a full windshield, ought to be much better, though I'll wait for forum reviews and a decent sale price before hitting my Steam wallet for this one.
I don't really see an issue with either of those, or the 484 to be fair. But I'm not that bothered so long as it sounds like a train. Rivet are great at modeling, so the route will look pretty, at least!
Wow, thanks for the link! We walked through there when we visited Edinburgh last August, the increased detail compared to Edinburgh-Glasgow (which already set the bar quite high in terms of scenery) is much appreciated.
I think the issue was the physics which was done incorrectly at the start which also affected the sounds since both are related. Physics has been updated but it still feels off which is a mixing thing but physics had a much bigger impact
I'm really happy for this route coming up. the class 170 is the main uk traction i've wanted for a while, plus fife circle would have been up there as one of my preferred choices. In my opinion the game lacked a really good, modern diesel route, now this more than fills that gap for me this route heavily depends on if rivet get the timetable right.. this route should feel busy and alive, if the class 385 and class 801 are utilised that will make the world of difference. my main complaint about rivet's Edinburgh to Glasgow was the fact they chose to use the post covid timetable of a train every 30 minutes instead of the prior one of a train every 15 minutes, that difference alone would have made that route feel so much more alive. ulimately this has the potential to be one of the best routes yet, i just hope the timetable will be up to standard on this one
To be honest I think both are as important, the 170 is something I really want, so I do think it’s very important to get right. But it’s kinda pointless if its main home doesn’t have much going on for it. Fife Circle will have skyhooks 158 going for it still, so there is that fallback.
At least if Rivet games are making the Class 170, we don't have to worry about them releasing a broken class 68 or 88. Hopefully a different third-party developer will be making those. That's my only thought on the whole thing right now.
Depends on the era. Personally I'm fine with it being modern day. I kinda prefer it like that but I'll take a class 68 any day. I just think it would be better on freight or another operator than with scotrail.
Still not leaving to rest the possible chance of an HST being in the works with rivets “did you pay attention to all the stock being included” it has got my hopes up
Plus Matt's comment with "you'll have access to the full fife circle fleet" makes this seem more likely and very cool!
I do definately think Rivet and Skyhook will be taking advantage of the amount of rolling stock that goes over this route irl. I7C HST I defo on the list at some point in the near future.
Gotta agree with you, I've mentioned elsewhere but playing this in VR with an HST doing a fictional I7C run between Ed and Glasgow and I was marvelling at the work they've done with the scenery and world building. Real shame people focused so much on the 385 negatives. I do think for the most part, whilst there was some weird bugs, it was a loud minority who had trouble with the 385.
It’s just the usual people complaining about anything they can nothing new on these forums and the same people who do it every time. Anew route is announced. Does beg the question why they even bother using the sim if all they do is constantly complain
The bugs on EG tbh I havent noticed them. My only complaints about the EG is mostly about the 385 and its motor sounds. However I will say I find the route incredibly boring. Bugs we may find insignificant may be significant to someone who lives in the area. For example, a modelling error at Edinburgh I wouldnt notice but have that same error at London Bridge and I would straight away. Its just the nature of the beast.
I've never owned E>G, so can't really complain about it. Rivet' other routes (I only own IOW original and WCL) aren't even that bad.
It's only just occured to me that with Fife Circle we'll be able to have quite a significant adventure in and around the central belt. An almost unbroken journey too (not counting loading screens) aside from a station change in Glasgow. I'm quite excited by the prospect of doing a big 3-act trip from Markinch to Edinburgh, taking a train from Edinburgh to Glasgow, (an off-screen 470m walk to Central), and finally a local commuter trip into the southside.
Exactly my reaction to the route. The route is dull but well- modeled, but the 385 with the weird sounds and the prison block windshield spoils it. There's also the deserted terminal stations, typical of TSW.
I watched British Ace YT channel he has a video shows fife circle on TSC since its coming to TSW he showed the rote the firth bridge that was impressive i like infastructure like that in TSW ill def be buying fife circle when its released
