Has the 68 been confirmed or something? I've heard so many people talk about it as though it's been confirmed but I myself haven't actually heard anything of it..?

DTG does the PC to console ports, so this is one of the few issues not their fault

I don't know if they have confirmed a year for the route, but I don't think the 68s have run it since covid?
Or at least not that I can see on a quick google

Class A route. Just need some freight traffic oh and some scenery to Glasgee would be a bonus.
    Nice work.

Well apparently the schedule is based on the COVID timetables so I guess the 68 would work but it's not been confirmed as of now... I would love to see it though, I'm beginning to think it would actually be better than a Class 70 which is what I initially wanted!
(I wouldn't turn down a 70 - or any new UK loco - though of course!)

I'm on my "on foot" collectables hunt, and there are some to be collected at Linlithgow. However, the station does not appear on the map, so you cannot jump to it, nor does appear on the collectable map either.
There is also a collectable flower planter at the station that you cannot activate. TSW4 FC Lin1.jpg TSW4 FC Lin2.jpg

So... It would appear that the items at Linlithgow are additional. I have now completed my hunt for collectables and have - 25 posters; 27 maps; 26 seals and 26 planters (excluding the one shown above).

I managed to get them to work, if you switch to the backup day lights or just marker lights then switch back to the day lights it should fix them, it worked for me anyway. :)

Have you also noticed that the door buttons on the right side of the cabin (Class 170) are missing?

The 170 is great and all but it has it's let downs . The light clusters are wrong , engine sounds are wrong and the door step is constantly out

Maybe that’s prototypical? All the pictures of Class 170s I could find have them with visible door steps, even when they’re non-stationary.

Off map stops don't appear on the display boards, nor do the 385's destinations.

    Are they scotrail 170s
Finding a quick video of 170s departing haymarket, they don't retract on either the Edinburgh or Dundee trains that appear.

You know that old song 'On A Clear Day You Can See Forever'? Well in 2024, we have a new version.

Just doing my first timetable route on it (1L73) no announcements so far, my console is connected through my home cinema amp and outputting dolby digital and you can't have your windows open too far or you don't hear vigilance, i do like the fact that you have to make use of the hill start function, however, one thing that really can't be right is that I turned on the master key and set my safety systems up, the next thing indid was open the doors and it automatically set the reverser from off to forwards. I've seen videos on YouTube of first plays etc and the route I'm doing is nighttime and it looks pleasantly lit in the scenery tbf, there's an update downloading currently for PS4, v1.42 and I'm hoping this is an update for the route.

That's a TSW issue and is related to the height above sea level. You just don't notice it on other routes where trackside vegetation obstructs your view. Nothing to do with the route itself - and completely removing that fog would show you blank areas without objects as they are out of drawing range. It is only a train driving game, and not a Landscape sim. If you were to replicate a real world area of that scale, it would take years of development and could never be sold at a reasonable price to pay the devs.

You can change this using GodMode for example.

    TimeOfDaySystem.Fog.MinDensity = 0.003 (default) vs 0

    2024-03-27 19_45_11-Train Sim World 4®.png

Played around, and found 0.001 to be a good value - completely removing fog will destroy the illusion and make you aware that this is just a computer game, where things can only appear inside a certain radius of the player.

The furthest of the three bridges was clearly made very low poly specifically to only be visible through fog, that much is obvious. I know you can also see a lot of the further away, low detail scenery and even the edge of the map tiles on routes from before TSW2 Rush Hour because of how that engine update increased the view distance. Normally I don't even think twice about it, I only mention it in this case because it's visible on a completely unmodded version of the game, on PS5, from the cab of the engine without even needing to do any extracurricular things to see it.

That's another thing. But let me assure you that ExponentialHeightFog is a global ToDv4 property and the same on all TSW3+ routes - thickest at sea level (and almost invisible at Ospizio for example due to its height). Developing a route where the player gets such views is a challenge. And commercial devs are restricted to keep to limits, as each manhour must be paid. You're getting way more scenery here in terms of acres than on Suffragette/Goblin Line which is almost the same price - naturally you can't put as much detail in it - or you'd have to sell it for €90.

And I'm sure Matt's old house at Leytonstone is not correctly modelled. Matt himself might have filed a complaint. ;)

There’s a Fife Circle map at Linlithgow??? Mental, even more of a reason not to use the badly outdated maps, use a ScotRail map and this kinda thing is fine.

Of course. But at some point the route would be exclusive to PC users with the latest high end rigs.

I really don't think extending the water tiles a bit would have that great a performance impact...

PS5 - I have enjoyed the route so far. Sounds good, drives good. Crane at the harbour is really low res for a large, close item to the track. Edinburgh would be good to be busier and a bit of polish on some scenery. None of it is a deal breaker for me, and I don't see the issues that others have reported, but I'm not as invested in the really fine detail compared to others.

Downloaded the route earlier, done a couple if timetable routes
    Good points
    *train is well modelled
*Some scenery looks good and the ambient lighting in towns and villages along the route at night does look very good
*its a fairly long route with plenty going on and offers reasonable value for money if you look at it as 2 routes in 1
*I love the fact that an existing terminus has been used as the basis for a new route, more of this please.

    Bad points
    *intermittent auto announcements
*if you drive with the windows open so you can hear more sounds it makes it nigh on impossible to hear the vigilance pedal which has more than once led to an emergency brake application
*this one is pretty.unforgiveable I think but if you set your safety systems and then turn on the master key and do nothing else, when you open the doors the reverser automatically goes from off to forwards.
*in terms of AI the route is dead and needs more layers.

With updates hopefully it can become better, I love MML but that had issues on release and now irs a decent route tbf.

I had instances of the Forth bridge not being there until I was on it when travelling south. Travelling north towards Edinburgh the bridge is full visible though. I'm on series S

Yeah I agree. On the 170 the train starting rolls back as it has very poor acceleration, so it’s definitely needed.
I’ve never used it on the 323 either as it’s never been an issue or I’ve really thought I had to. Its more for show than anything, just like how I like to use the guard buzzer occasionally before departure.

I’m on Xbox Series X. I’m finding the Forth Rail Bridge is consistently visible going south all the way from North Queensferry but only paints going north when on the initial bridge portion.

One thing i noticed on a stream, is that when using external camera you cannot hear the AWS 'ping' when approaching a green light.

you can hear the AWS warning for speed board changes/yellow signals, but not the audible 'ping' when approaching green signals on external camera.

Fun round the Firth scenario is screwed before you even leave Waverly because nobody gets on your train. Just like free roam it's a complete waste of an hour of your time unless its supposed to be a paranormal railtour for ghosts

Played a couple of hours tonight, going southbound on both sides of the circle, so have seen virtually all the route. So far it’s absolutely not the car crash it’s being made out to be.

170 - looks fantastic and fun to drive. Not overly familiar with it in real life so can’t tell how accurate the sounds are but sounds fine to me and enjoying the roar you get with windows open and going through a tunnel (seems particularly loud on the one just north of the Forth Bridge).

Near scenery is generally pretty good, the section along the coast is nice and whilst not Goblin/Blackpool levels of detail, the urban areas are fine enough.

Where the scenery can fall down is large open areas with either flat countryside or rolling hills. The flat grass texture used frequently just looks rubbish and harks back to those vast expanses of nothingness in WCL. Seems inconsistent though as some of the grassy areas around Dunfermline use actual none flat grass and look so much better for it. Not sure if this was a decision to maximise performance but there must be some overhead there as playing on Series X has been consistently smooth, far more so than any other TSW4 specific route I’ve played.

Also this goes without saying but the airport looks terrible and the Forth Bridge looks stunning.

Timetable - not as devoid of life as I’d been lead to believe and appreciate with the trains available it can hardly be London Commuter levels of activity, but certainly needs a bit more TLC/ambition. There’s virtually no freight in real life so that’s fair enough but some RHTT and rail tours are sorely needed to bring it to life.

Overall so far my experience has been largely positive. With the 158, some more timetable options and Leven it could be great.

Edit - not had any of the Forth Bridge rendering issues yet and not spotted any Roblox houses.

A really good route idea not quite executed just yet. Has the potential to be a one of the best in the game but unfortunately it feels like a rushed release.
The scenery is good in places but also very poor in others , the fields , hills and distant scenery are a step back from the recent tsw 4 era releases.

A route of this size was quite ambitious for Rivet so soon after the Bernina release, more time and people were needed to do this amazing route justice.

Once the services are fleshed out , bugs fixed and hopefully scenery improved there is still hope for the route to be one of the standout options, however in it’s current early state it’s hard to justify the price tag.

I hope merging EDN to FCL will be considered in the future. Not sure how that would work from a technical perspective, since if they just added EDN to FCL then FCL owners would effectively get EDN for free, but if they can figure out a way for the scenery to only show up if one owns EDN it would be great. I would buy both routes just to show support for the idea of more route merges.

Also I hope adding smart PIS to the 170, and selling variants of it as loco packs are considered. For example, a class 171 loco pack for East Coastway would be great, as far as I know it would mainly only need the coupler to be changed, and a Southern livery.

This is something that I hope will happen in the future too. The FCL and EDN merge looks very achievable. Even on the FCL line about 20% of the EDN line is modelled.

I’d love a 170 in Southern livery for the ECW, maybe with that release they could update the route to TSW4 standards also. A person can only dream :)
