On the line between Linlithgow and Haymarket there are a LOT of floating vegetation. I think most of the retainingwalls are missing compared to the Glasgow-route.
Okay, finally caved and bought the route with the game pass discount, just did a run up the coast. Never got round to getting the TSC version, so appreciate a new part of Scotland to explore. 170 is very decent and sounds fine, except for the OTT run sounds above 20mph? Right hand door buttons are also missing, guess this is only an issue when you arrive at Waverley. Scenery from what I've seen is okay but could be better, though I had the same issue of the Forth Bridge popping in at the last moment. Really, on a Series X? Definitely needs stock at Haymarket depot and more added to the timetable to make it feel more alive. But, passable for now.
Actually the entire E2G line is modeled, they just deleted the scenery from E2G. If you're on PC and own E2G, you can copy over the map tiles, and have the entire E2G route merged in with Fife.
Just a headsup here as well: We've shared another update on Fife Circle, see here: https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/an-update-on-the-fife-circle-line.79952/#post-818756
Is this the first scenario where you have to stop for tourists to take photos? I noticed this aswell, some pretty poor pre release testing right there.
So I've noticed an issue with the 170. Passengers will only exit the middle carriage, and normally only 1-2. I've done about 5-6 services now, checking at every stop, and I have not once had a passenger exit the front or back cars of the train, and never more than 1-2 exit the middle carriage.
Another release. All the same usual feedback. There is absolutely no point feeding anything back to DTG or Rivet. They don’t give a toss. Glad I haven’t paid good money for this shambles.
Same thing with one of their Cornish steam tours. It leaves Penzance at the ungodly and unlikely hour of 0600, not a soul on board yet you make 4 or 5 stops for photo opportunities!
Can someone free roam the 170 on a higher speed line like ECML and see what the in cab running audio does after 90mph. I'm not sure if it's just me?? The rolling sounds fade out and are replaced by a broken bagpipe! Aside. Those who mention the right hand door buttons not working. They're blanked off, and don't work in reality. Right hand door buttons are next to the door.
its not only you i have the same after 91mph it sounds like a loop of bagpipe i only hear that click clak sound ( could be louder) when i cross the track tested on FCL over the bridge where i was on 98mph its some kind of high tone
This is correct, they’re blanked out or not fitted on ScotRail 170s as they’re only used with conductors.
I grew up on this route, worked as crew on trains over it and I’ve also driven ScotRail’s 170 training rig on a few occasions, so I’ve a lot of views. I love this DLC. Here’s why: The scenery. It’s really detailed, the custom assets are spectacular and even the off the shelf ones are well placed. I found my childhood home by the railway and it looked very similar. Driving along the Fife Coast felt natural, it’s a journey I have done thousands of times on all sorts of trains. It was emotional, in a way. The 170 is also a very good train. Rivet have learned from previous releases and really paid attention to detail. Things like the guard panels, switches and buttons in the cab. The sounds are not perfect, there’s a distinctive sound internally that differs from what you hear on the platform. Sadly that’s not replicated and it’s instead got some muffled exterior sounds internally. Handling is as you would anticipate a 170. The exception being that there’s a few second delay between moving the power-brake controller and the train reacting — EDIT: a 170 driver informs me the lag is accurate, however, the units in the game accelerate a little too quick and the brakes are a bit too efffective.
Here is the sound of the 170 running beyond 85mph. What is this? https://gyazo.com/bbbd4665e4590346ba1d11c4112585ee Wait a few seconds, as the start of the clip is muted. And don't play on high volume, it's very uncomfortable! I imagine it wasn't tested driving at full speed, but for those who want to drive on MML and fast lines it's unbearable. Patch urgently required.
The depots and Waverley are way too quiet. Can we not have the inter7city hst included even if only as ai traffic? One glaring error local to me, the Halbeath level crossing, just north of Dunfermline QM station has no barriers or level crossing lights at all! No power lines between pylon’s between Dunfermline QM and Cowdenbeath stations. Finally can I ask why are all football goals, whether in back gardens or line side football pitches, so huge and out of scale? Even the pitch lines are horribly out of scale. There doesn’t seem to be Edinburgh - Glenrothes services around the circle, ie going out then coming back in opposite route which is normal practice? Needs the Perth via Dunfermline services added as well as Edi Cowdenbeath terminating services. I am enjoying this route but needs more traffic.
One more thing: the series of football pitches north of Aberdour are in fact two shinty pitches. It would be more accurate to have the goal frames with no lines on the grass.
I've just taken the 170 onto the Training Centre loop, can't find anything wrong with the sounds above 90 mph.
I'm surely no expert on correct sounds, I was just expecting another sound (like a wrong sample) coming in but that didn't occur. It seemed ok - not out of place to say so. If there's something wrong and they found it - fine.
I've been having a lot of fun on the Fife Circle route the last few days. The 170 is excellent and looks, sounds and works as I would expect it to. A big well done to Rivet on that. The route scenery is not as bad as many would have me believe but there do seem to be issues with low quality house assets that look like cardboard boxes with grey squares drawn on for windows, without any transparent or reflective qualities. It seems to be very noticeable around Kirkcaldy and South Gyle. Scottish houses aren't much to look at in reality but not quite that bad. If they can be improved along with the extra services then this route will be a winner. One small bug I noticed is when stopping southbound at Lochgelly that passengers are walking across the track to board the train on the wrong sides and glitching through the closed doors.
Went ahead and purchased this route, despite what some people are saying I don’t think it is as bad as they’re saying, and with improvements could be an amazing route. The 170 is the best part of the route, it’s really well modelled and the sounds are good (to me), the only issue I find with the sounds is that the cab is too quiet, I’d expect a little sound from the motor at least. The train works well coupled with the 158 too so looking forward to the ScotRail one coming soon. It’s great the line between Dalmeny and Linlithgow was modelled too, it’s a shame that there’s no scenarios that take you that way, would be good if one came with the 158 pack. The only issue on that line as others have said is the floating scenery towards Linlithgow. these are a few things that I’ve noticed, plant pot collectible at Linlithgow can’t be filled, after Dalgety Bay going south there is a AWS ramp but no speed reduction warning board, missing 40mph sign between Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly, repeater Banner at Iverkeithing not horizontal when signal is at danger, 15mph board after Rosyth is missing the arrow to show its for the siding. Also I don’t think the signalling is set up correctly, for example when going towards a line with a lower speed limit, there is no warning just green signals the whole way, some of the feathers on signals have not been showing for me too. Looking forward to improvements to this route! Also I can’t seem to find the last 4 seals… well done Rivet!
I’ve played a service (2G01 0746 Edinburgh-Glenrothes) with the Fife Circle Revamped pack by bescot and Rob S and have to say this along with JetWash lighting and graphics mod make a huge difference! Really enjoying this route, I think with the timetable improvements, Leven branch and hopefully scenic updates, we really are in for a treat (eventually)
Interesting. I’m working on a little EP for Goblin at the moment but depending on what Rivet do next I might get it. As soon as I do I’ll make a FC specific pre-set.
I think it has been mentioned before, but Notch 5 - 7 doesn't seem to have the power or audio change until 17mph, is this prototypical or a bug?
Another point or Observation Why does Edinburgh Park and Linlithgow, two stations not on the Fife circle, and also not spawnable or timetables stops, unreachable without spawning in trains feature collectables?
Jasper_Rivet Currently the main problems (to summarise) around Edinburgh Waverley with the timetable, to limit it to both sides of the station, on the northern side: No Edinburgh Waverley to Dunblane and Stirling using the 385, Haymarket Depot services that run between the station are not there (they run quite a lot so it would give very high service count shoulder nudge), Glasgow queen street to Waverley services running at 4tph would bring line to life a bit more, not accurate for timetable today but was for the pre covid timetable, very rare service from Waverley to Glasgow central (they don’t run a lot but extra touch’s help , services from Helensburgh to Waverley (aware that the 334s run this pattern but 385s can sub in right?), not too sure if services to Aberdeen are missing so someone correct me if I’m wrong, not a problem just wanted to give credit for the Azuma running at 7:30 roughly at haymarket to Waverley. For the South side now that it’s opened up: Services with the turbostar running as ai to Tweedbank, services with the 385 running to north Berwick as ai. Any that I didn’t get feel free to add it. Also good work on the turbostar, really fun unit to drive
These run from the island platform hidden from the main station, so these being ommitted isn't a major issue IMO
Sorry if this has previously been mentioned. I did a run yesterday which was sunny then the fog came in. A mile or so later the fog was gone in a split second and sunny again. This has happened on other routes too.
When driving P2G08 Glenrothes with Thornton - Edinburgh Waverly, coming to Rosyth, I heard "We'll soon arrive at..." and the announcement stopped for the rest of the journey. I'll try this one and other times to verify the issue. Also, the voice is silent at Kirkcaldy and approaching Edinburgh Waverly. I'm a bit surprised that the beta- or Q&A team missed this. I can send a suppots ticket, but I'll first see if there is any answer from DTG staff here.
Will Rivet address the missing Fife circle services that terminate at Glenrothes, shunt and head back, rather than continue on back along the coast as is the common practice? I've not yet seemed to run a service that does this.
There are no missing Glenrothes services. The shunt is a separate service, though, so you'll miss it if you quit after completing the first service.
There are, there one or two that travel the other half of the circle (via Kirkcaldy) and terminate at Glenrothes.
Ok...that might be questionable... while the HUD speedometer says I'm going at 180km/h (so around 112 mp/h), the in-cab speedo still shows I'm going at 100 mp/h (160 km/h), so driving without HUD never will show you, if you're going too fast with the 170...(beyond the allowed maximum speed...)
For anyone that uses it, v4.3 of my lighting EP is now on TSC with pre-sets for Fife Circle TSW 4 | Lighting & Graphic Enhancement v4.3 - Train Sim Community
Its obvious..., for Rivet TSW is just TS classic with a bit better visual. All the potential of this sim seems to be unused or wrong implemented by Rivet. If the community tells them the timetable is lacklustre they seem not to get the point. (Rivet is the developper, they choose the route so they should know what runs there (or is it simply the fact they just dont want?) Empty depots (so far of all tsw devs, only rivet is so low on ideas to just release it like that..shame) Again the ancient way of passenger task: signal changes to from red to green after the player closes the door? All developpers except for rivet got rid of this immersionbraking way to task a commuter service. (After the community and literally thousands of steam reviews pointed this out in every singel Rivet dlc, i asume they just dont give a s^it.) Im glad i didnt buy this product! Im not enjoying to buy Rivets dlcs either because its always like "i hope they didnt botch this or botch that. Just a honest opinion from somebody very disappointed in this developper. Neither they see the potential of "what makes a dlc good", nor seems Rivet to get the point, that s well rated dlc will attract more customers, which means a better financial state. The Steam reviews seem to confirm the things discussed here..
So not services that the original poster was talking about. They do know what runs there. All the services in the timetable are real ones with real timings. It's just that some are missing.
I’m not trying to argue, but they are still missing Glenrothes services. I don’t know why you are being defensive over the missing timetables services from other posts I’ve made. There are clearly a lot of missing services, some of which Rivet have acknowledged (the Cowdenbeath services) now whether we are waiting for the other ones to follow when the 158 releases and Leven update, I don’t know. But the more we point out, hopefully they get included! I’m genuinely loving the route, it’s just a shame the timetable is a bit sparse.
I'm not being defensive, I think people are confused about what's missing and what's not. I'm the one who annotated the Scotrail timetable to show which services are missing.
My two penneth; 1) It’s clearly not finished in places. Some of the scenery is well below par but not to such an extent that it would take a long time to sort out. Clearly an issue of not enough time 2) The timetable is lacking. We know it, they know it, and hopefully they’re doing something about it Other than that, honestly, it is nothing like as bad as has been made out. Should it have been released in this state? Probably not, but I’m guessing year-end commercial pressures forced their hand. Was the immediate pre and post release ‘customer facing response’ good enough, or did it just antagonise people? I’d say the latter. However, this has the makings of a really great route. Those on PC are lucky enough they can sort the lighting out and utilise the EP to vastly improve the look of the ballast and foliage. The 170 is excellent (GSM-R aside but I’m blaming that on the timetable) and on the whole the scenery is good. It’s simply that they very clearly had to release it on a given date come hell or high water and fix it later. What they do next is what matters. Get the update right and all will likely be forgiven. Give us something half-arsed and it will do both Rivet and TSW long term reputational damage. It cannot be denied though that this isn’t as bad as it looked pre-release (which in itself probably ought to provoke a bit of soul-searching on behalf of the people tasked with ‘selling’ these products).
Agreed, and I'm having fun playing this route. (Getting rid of the dense core height related perma fog using GodMode by setting its MinDensity to 0.001 under TimeOfDaySystem>Fog). I take it the upcoming Scotrail 158 will cover services on the northern part of the Circle?
I don't think so - the missing services are pretty much entirely either Edinburgh-Cowdenbeath or Edinburgh-Perth/Dundee - between Cowdenbeath and Glenrothes it's pretty much as busy as it is in real life - and since Rivet has said they're planning on adding the Cowdenbeath services in an update I don't think anything on the north side of the Circle is being saved for the 158.
No 170 layer into Scotrail Express even though they are regulars at GQS. Honestly baffles me the sheer inconsistencies within this game. The laziness is astounding. Fife circle releases and we have just to pretend that we have a new version of Waverley that has layers and completely forget about the Scotrail Express version?
Played some more, also in Free roam... having a blast, mostly... some speed changes arent too well announced... like, I did Edinburgh - Markinch with GWG HST, and I cant remember which station it was, sth before Forth Bridge... you are going like 45 and then there is supposed to be a sign right after platform saying you can now go 90, but it is only on minimap, not as a sign... not a big deal, but it triggered my OCD brain for a couple hrs
