"All mods" or just the Fife Circle ones? On a serious note, thanks, it looks like I deleted them from my TSW4 installation by mistake and not my TSW5 one, I think it's probably time to uninstall TSW4 now most mods work in 5. One other thing, I wouldn't say my post was a complaint, just observations to assist the development team made in good faith.
That was more in everyone than in youre comment. This is the most mistaken thing and also the risk that always comes with modded TSW versions. Sorry if you experienced that as a personal thing.
No worries Xander. It's good advice and had I done my due diligence (i.e. delete the mods from the correct file) I wouldn't have ended-up embarrassing myself in public there! I've been trying to set-up MSFS 2024 for the last 48 hours so I'm possibly a little fatigued.
Yeah not really... They change only the class 170 Fix class 170 PIS and the T-Posing driver/passengers after Rivet updated the DLC. This is a quick fix, as we don't have chance to update anything else related to the class 170 lights, LODS, or the Leven Branch
I wish you luck you did not find it there :P Its the DB Apmz open seating coach But yes it was in the Netherlands on the Amsterdam Berlin service!
Scenery appears to have improved*, especially in the snow. Had some weird behaviour where the driver's side windscreen wiper stopped working - couldn't make it move again no matter what combination of controls I tried (different DRIVER/BOTH toggles, INTERMITTENT etc) ... oddly the right-hand wiper responded to the controls in BOTH mode... Feels like I can play this route HUDless now, the speed signs all seem to be there now. Phew! * apart from the 170 that's being chopped in half by the shed doors ay Haymarket
The bungalows on Aberdour station still have not been changed. This is how they have portrayed them. The above is how it should look. What tickles me is that they have used houses like this on other parts of the route!!! You wouldn’t get this on a Just Trains route. They are very careful with their attention to detail and get it right!
Those are ICL or DB Avmz lease Strange although some of them had the modernization but never changed to "Avmmz". The second "m" meaning "Modernisierung" or modernization.
Beware that you hold the button a second or two when you open al doors in the new guard mode.I was puzzled when I only coulde open the local door after keying in and selecting local door mode, but I eventually found out.
Having now done a couple of journeys on the route, including up to Leven and back - and as a local - can offer some feedback. Some good and some less so. Clear that some work has been done on the scenery and that's a welcome improvement. However, the "Airport" is still very underwhelming and nothing like reality. Same when crossing the Forth Bridge you still wouldn't even know the Queensferry Crossing was there. And from a really local point of view the main Dual Carriageway in Dunfermline beside the city is still embarrassingly bad. The Leven extension itself is great to have, although not much fun to drive. I didn't know in real life the whole line had a max speed of 45mph and with little chance of red lights you pretty much just have to spend the whole 5.5 miles or so in neutral. Realistic, I'm sure, but entertaining it's not. Grateful for the update though, and more likely to enjoy it than I have before thanks to the scenery improvements and hopefully it won't be too long until the 158 is available to drive on it, as it just feels - and sounds - better to drive than the 170. Give them a 7/10 for it now :P
Scenery on the Leven branch is lovely! A nice little update. Just a shame about the signal on approach to the branch not having any approach control. A welcome update all the same and looking forward to the 158 timetable update.
Driving 2K55 to Leven. Found a bug with the 170. Doors don’t open but interlock lights on the carriage sides light up and go out as normal. Doors just don’t happen. So how do passengers board. Also found that if you change the destination screen on the front. For example you switch it to Leven when it was originally displaying something else, it will not display Leven but a different station names. So the station names on the front pis don’t necessarily correspond to the drivers control for pis.
Anybody have any tips for guard mode please? As per usual it's a guessing game with instructions not matching up with actual buttons. Doors closed except local, no buzzer yet train moves off, still have the instruction to LOAD PASSENGERS unlock the local door and no tickets to check.
The turnout onto the Leven Branch has a purely cosmetic 10mph board, its not setup for the track, nor the hud. Good job Rivet
Seeing all the comments on this update, I have to agree and do miss the mods which were available on pc including Jaux timetable. Anyway, just always love shots like this.
Just off from doing a Cowdenbeath - Edinburgh service on Guard Mode so a few more thoughts. Minor niggles aside - I'll get to them - it was probably as enjoyable an experience as I've had on TSW for a little while. Playing Guard Mode on the WCML 350 has been a real let down in terms of not much do to (as an example did a non-stop Euston-Milton Keynes and only had to check 6 tickets !). However, the service I just did on Fife Circle was absolutely manic. Having to check 22 tickets between Dunfermline and Rosyth was hard enough, but then 36 between Edinburgh Gateway was manic ! However, all in all the journey felt more like 15 minutes than the actual 44 that it took. Loved it ! Some of the niggles - none of which really spoiled the experience for me though. The clearing luggage from the aisle can be a little bit tiresome. Might be better if there was less and you actually interacted with the passenger whose luggage it was. One passenger visibly got on the train at Cowdenbeath - I know this because I walked past him several times and he was sat right beside a bog door - but I only had to check his ticket from Haymarket to Edinburgh. Finally I read something about passenger "behaviour" being made better or more accurate. Why then when the train arrived at Edinburgh and I opened the doors did no passengers disembark. Basically they just sat there even though the train terminates at that station. Like I say though none of those are deal-breakers for me and looking forward to doing more Guard Duty and driving on this much improved - but still could be much better - route. Well.....at least until next Tuesday when Just Trains' epic is released !!
One great thing from this DLC which needs to be implemented in all routes is passenger announcements - I was really happy to see this in the game but the timetable really needs updating
Tested the update today. First impression: The scenery has been significantly revised, at least you can see a difference from before. It's OK so far and better than before. I don't expect mega full AI timetables like on the Kinzigtalbahn, which totally crash the performance, but there should be a bit more going on on the long, long route. You still feel pretty lonely. The automatic announcements are also nice and should actually be STANDARD under TSW5, at least for new routes.
This speed board leaving Leven is purely cosmetic, the track and HUD are not linked to it, so you end up overspeeding. Sloppy Rivet!
Hard to disagree with any of that. I previously hated driving it just because the scenery was so bad before, but it is more than acceptable now. On the announcements they really are a nice touch. With the ones on the Fife Circle though they're just a bit "wrong". The chime isn't correct, the voice is just a bit too "robotic" and the announcement about "Leven Station" isn't correct, the real announcement just says "Leven". Don't get me started either on the "Cardenden" one - although that's maybe just because I'm from Fife and know how it's actually pronounced ! All in all, a really positive step. Can't see Rivet doing much more with it, given their track record. So it's probably going to be as good as it gets now, at least until the 158 is added into the timetable. For anybody who hasn't got it yet, I'd say it is a decent purchase.
I have to agree with the guard side, in reality the guard would ask the passenger to move their bags, not the guard. But, I have to disagree with the 350 as all the Euston to Crewe services are non stop between Euston and MKC as Per reality as I have been on those services back and forwards a lot
Just gone for a run from Linlithgow, and it's a shame they haven't fixed the scenery gaps that appeared in the last update, i.e. the missing OHL and the trees that disappeared. Given the mass of complaints about this at the time, on here and the various Facebook groups, you'd have hoped they would have addressed it. But it seems not. Such a shame as I like doing those 385 services when I want to dip into the sim but don't have too long to play it.
100% That would have been wonderful. My dog - who passed recently and I miss so much - was the same breed and I just wanted to be able to interact in some way. Imagine clicking a button which you say "good boy" and the dog's tail starts wagging!
The frustration there is that it was all fine when the route came out (bar a weird collectable in a doorway), but it was an update that ruined it!
Hopefully they can fix it. I remember Rivet's first route which was the IOW, they did a lot of fixes back then. Unfortunately, it can be hard to go back to previous content as they are old content for the specific route (TSW 2). Since the, IOW 22 has been the best for them because they have taken in the feedback from the previous route and implemented it on the new route.
OK, so just bought the route, did a Leven service although only got as far as Inverkeithing before real life called. Good first impression so far, it's not as bad as everyone likes to make out. The 170 doesn't sound too bad. The sounds could maybe be a little bit better, but they're good for the most part. Scenery doesn't look too bad either. Only problem I encountered is in the below screenshot: Didn't know trains could move through closed doors!
Service 2G30 05:58 Glenrothes with Thornton - Edinburgh via Kirkcaldy. Conductor mode I spawn in at Glenrothes with Thornton the train is at Markinch
I just tried a few runs towards leven and noticed a few things - the green light before the junction towards leven has a feather on top of it but is not lit (yes, i went over the junctions at 70mph...) - a sign that says 10mph but should be 25mph or vice versa - a yellow light towards Leven station has no AWS magnet/warning - the signal before the leven junction shows a straight line upwards, i expected to go straight but i want to the right track All of the above might be prototypical, but seemed strange to me Furthermore it is a nice new stretch of route, i love extra branches and paths. looks very nice
All the passengers now want to assert dominance on every train. Just bought this route on sale and every passenger T-poses in a train: Particularly funny when they do it next to a window:
Cannot fathom guard mode on it on my Series X Get told to open local door, do it but nothing else occurs telling me to open the other doors , so I do it and the train ends up pulling out with doors still open, not a good look! Has this not been coded in properly by the makers or is it just me?
Is anyone able to explain why when stopping on a gradient (some of the stations have 1.4%) the train does not have enough power to move forward again when you're against it? Even with sand? I can get it to 'hold' the backwards slip in notch 7 (max power) at 3.1mph, but it just does not have enough power to get going forward again. The train just constantly slides backwards slowly due to gravity.
On PS5 I press the hill start switch, then release the brakes and put it onto notch four, after a couple of seconds I'll let go of the Hill start switch. The 170 then starts to slowly move off, then I apply more power as needed.
I did not know this - where is the switch for hill start? Edit - found it, still rolls backwards even when the hill start is released...
Anyone got 170 guard mode working on PS5? If so, please could you share a step by step guide? Watched YouTube tutorials which haven’t helped. Can’t seem to just open local door :/
Anyone in a similar situation - turn on objective markers for the first few times. It helps and makes it clear what to do.
