Hello everyone, as an update for PC users on Steam interested in Fife Circle:

The pre-order countdown is currently set to end at 5pm UTC which is an hour earlier than the release. No need to be alarmed, it's just a time mix-up on the Steam store, and I can confirm the route is planned to release at 6pm UTC.

Rivet and Dovetail are now tinkering around the edges with emergency fixes to this abysmal release.

On another thread in this forum it has been stated by Dovetail that they have been preparing for this release along with Rivet. What were they doing? Playing other games rather than carrying out proper quality control? Could they not see an entire bridge twice the size of the Forth Rail Bridge was missing? Did they not notice the Forth Rail Bridge not rendering until a train was on it? Did they not notice the incorrect ballast colour? Were they totally blind to the pathetic quality of distant scenery and the quality of buildings along the entire route? Did they not see the amount of missing line side fencing? It's also obvious they couldn't care less about Edinburgh Airport and invented a nonsensical story about resources. I could go on but it would get more embarrassing for Dovetail and Rivet.

It seems clear to me that both Dovetail and Rivet have carried out negligible quality control on this DLC. Now, with both companies caught with their pants fully down, we hear the same jam tomorrow excuses about fixes that should never have been necessary for a DLC that should never have been released in the state it currently is. Those responsible have turned this new release in to a complete debacle and made both companies look like amateur fools.

How can Rivet and Dovetail possibly try and justify releasing this atrocious and sub-standard release to the public? I note that neither Dovetail nor Rivet have released any apology for the bin fire that this release has become. Fawning off paying customers with this TSW2 level release is truly appalling and shameful. It shows a clear contempt for your existing customer base and potential new customers. Both companies should hang their heads in shame at the overall shoddiness of this thrown together and chucked out the door release. Is this the new quality level we should now be expecting from Dovetail going forward? Take your customers for fools and you'll soon go out of business, regardless of how well you may think it is doing now.

I cannot recommend anyone to buy this sub standard release in its current dismal state. And, just to inform you, I have bought this DLC, so I'm not talking without any practicle experience of using it.

I was writing out a whole paragraph to express my feelings and accidentally posted it mid way through writing because I’m writing it out on my phone. So out of annoyance I’m shorting it down after all that is now wasted. Yes this route needs improvements but even though it does I still love it and enjoy it. I do hope rivet update it with all the issues reported and fix the scenery a bit but I’ll still play it, it stills feels nice to play. Even if it doesn’t receive updates, oh well I got a 170 out of it anyways.

I’ve only done one service and found a couple issues, there might be more idk but these are just what I found so far.

    Head in ceiling.
Yes I was walking down the aisle and I accidentally stepped on the seats and put my head through. No seriously I did look below. This I feel is an easy patch with a few tweaks of hit boxes or whatever I’m no tech guy.
    IMG_1553.jpeg

    Going through doors
I was just messing around with the guard panel and found out you can walk through a closed door, not just one though I tested on one side and I could walk through closed doors some I couldn’t some I could. Here’s the picture..
    IMG_1556.jpeg
    bam

    Lighting
The lighting at Edinburgh on the LNER end needs fixing at night because it’s pitch black on the platforms and also if you look at 385 on the right hand side it’s very dark is well also needs fixing
    IMG_1554.jpeg

Last one I found is the signal
One particular signal/platform you have to close the doors for it to change from red to green which in reality you will wait for a signal change to green you would never close your doors on a red. Other platforms have green signals before you close the doors so idk why this one isn’t like the others. But pls fix, it feels wrong closing on a red
    IMG_1555.jpeg

Just another two things is well I can’t really take pictures of, they’re not major but still something I guess rivet want feedback on. There is no Perth on the destination selector and when AI takes over (for example when they continue to Perth) my train has safety systems on and I turned everything off like the key and reverser, the AI obviously set the train back up and the AWS was screaming at me through my controller

Anyways, in all honesty I enjoy the route, yes the scenery could be improved a bit in patches but at the same time the scenery all across the route is lovely. I also love the trams and most importantly, the announcements I really love them. Have a nice day :)

I agree that they should not be putting out the video saying the route is Out Now when it has not even released on Steam or the Epic Platforms.

That's great it gets released on consoles long before PC gets it, but does not mean you post the video stating it's out now when it has not been released across all platforms.

I have posted on Facebook...but here we go..
i like the route, it is semi close to me,, my old office is nearly visible.
Far far far to quiet...Like to many routes..hardly an amber, except on approach..
    Rush hour services, empty stations..
A little to cartoony for me.. i went back and played a Glasgow service leaving Edinburgh,,chalk and cheese..
The 170 is good, driving it after the North London line was an experience...
Lots of room for improvement 7/10

Are you saying that console players shouldn't be notified that the dlc released?

Not what I saying at all, it's not good practice to put a video saying the this route is out now and at the bottom display's all the platforms. When it has only released on the consoles. Either have separate promo videos or hold out running the video until it is out on all platforms.

Just as a reminder, most of the services in the real timetable are present in the route:

It's a very pretty road, I like it a lot, it's missing a little bit of finishing like the waves on the sea or the boats but otherwise except for the missing airport (yes, it's not finished eh!!) the road is superb, I love it.
I rode with a steam locomotive, it was magnificent!!
I'm keeping it, I'll ride it for sure, personally I like it a lot, just lack of traffic

    THE -
Clearly lacking Ai trains on the road and in depots.
Lack of freight and passenger services.
    Missing a railtour.

Thanks rivet, but update the Ai services and trains please and fill the deposits for pity!!!!!!.

This is a legacy problem with TSW spanning years worth of DLCs. Some brilliant minds decided that only after closing the doors (completing the task) should the game dispatcher (if we can even call it that) start worrying about your path forwards. Unlikely to ever be fixed.

Counting out the money rolling in I expect, including yours it seems :)

Personally, given Rivet’s past reputation, I decided to look at some of the third party streams before deciding whether to part with my cash. So far, it has remained in my bank account.

Hello! We've been engaging where we can from the launch across feedback threads and in community spaces, right now the team are prioritising gathering Fife Circle feedback and logging issues to support both Rivet and our own QA/development teams.

I don't have more to share currently, the teams are working hard on addressing issues raised since the launch, and we will aim to provide an update soon with our status on improvements and when you can expect them.

The problem doesn’t really exist in modern routes… it can be eradicated by enabling “dispatch beyond” during timetable development. It seems like Rivet have simply forgotten to do that (they did it before - it was the case for basically every station stop on Luzern-Sursee, not sure if it ever got fixed). Or perhaps the services caused issues during QA testing so they disabled dispatch beyond for them.

Also it's possible to have the signal clear when passengers have finished boarding but before the player presses the "close doors" button.

Got it yesterday and after the first try I can say the following: Its not that bad like so many of you say. Way not a Masterpiece, but for instance concerning the scenery I find it better than the Arosalinie.

My standards are usually lower than most when it comes to TSW add-ons, but I can't bring myself to purchase this route until at the bare minimum they've beefed up the timetable.

That's to say nothing of the other glaring issues with the route- the 170 sounds, while not as bad as I feared are still pretty poor, especially considering they were directly sourced by DTG. And obviously the scenery in certain places is an embarrassment, most notably Edinburgh Airport.

Please can we have the quality of GFX back as they were in the LNER route, this and the Goblin route are too cartoony in places, and where's the trains, its like a ghost route. Passengers walking on tracks, certain stations there are no announcements, the football stadium interior is terrible, and some of the buildings and foliage are awful. Its a good route don't get me wrong, but if these issues were fixed, it would be a much more better experience. What DTG needs to be looking at is the Blackpool Route, that's where the bench marks are set, that route is the best out of any route, that's the standards that DTG need to set. The bar was raised when the Blackpool Branches route came out, nows ever since that its gone below par. Sorry but that's my opinion.

It’s good to hear that DTG are working with Rivet to improve this route. The magnificent Forth Bridge has really been structured beautifully and the Stations are impressive, get the rest of the scenery looking right and this will be an incredibly wonderful effort. Alex, please can DTG ask Rivet to correct their previous routes in the game before attempting another release. I hope Rivet can rise to the occasion and strive for perfection in all their work in the future. They would make the whole community happy if they did as we have become tired of their sub standard work.

Agreed. I was tempted to get this with the pre-order discount until I saw the feedback of the preview streams. Non-negotiables for me at or near full price are that the scenery is as accurate as the game engine allows, the timetable is as complete as the rolling stock in game allows, and the sounds/modelling are as accurate as possible. Get those right and I'll be buying this, until then it's a no (or a deep sale discount).

Yes! Also Cardenden and Kirkcaldy have no announcements. At Edinburgh, the approach announcements are missing..
At Kinghorn and Lochgelly, the passengers don’t board. now drove the "Full Circle" scenario where all annoincements worked, but the depart from Markinch!!! That's a surprise as I haven't heard announcements on scenarios so far. I'll have to check the timetable services again.
    Hope someone reads this.

The announcements are active when you hop on as a passenger, no matter where.

So I’ve taken the plunge and bought the route.

I’d echo the comments about this being a ghost route. Hardly any traffic. What is stopping them from doing a relivery on the 158? Scotrail operates 158s, so if they’ve licensed the livery for the 170 why wouldn’t they for the 158? Is it too much to get a LNER 800 on the route? Or a Scotrail HST perhaps?

Now, the 170/4 cab. It’s not one I’m afraid. That is a 171 cab, and before anyone says they’re the same, they’re not. I know this as I have driven both.

In a 170/4 the fault lights are different. The attached is from a 170/4, as you can see it’s different from a 171.

Skyhook are making a 158 for this route, there is supposed to be an update on this in next week's roadmap.

It is whatever 170 rivet had access to which they recreated. Rivet tend to spend all their resources on 1 piece of rolling stock which is why on many of their dlcs, there is only 1. A 800 is a completely new train rivet would have to model and I'm personally not sure what the service count looks like if applicable and whether it actually does the full circle.

So once again, we have to pay again for a train that we (who own MML) already have just to run it on this line. This game is becoming a total ripoff.

To be fair, that's mostly because Skyhook are making the 158 for a Rivet route. They ain't going to give their competition something for free.

To be fair the Scotrail 158 has some rather substantial differences to the mml 158 so having it as a separate purchase is not much of an issue imo.

So what you're saying is that you're perfectly fine running a emt 158 running in scotland. A 158 and another 158 aren't identical and skyhook aren't going to make it for free when it's a different model. Using your argument basically every single dlc should be free for reusing content

I don't feel it is a ripoff. It has quite a few changes over the EMT version, I am assuming, although I might be wrong that it also has new services which don't appear by accident.

Surely you don't expect Skyhook to give it away for free?

I am sure if you wait long enough for a sale you will get it at a much reduced price which might closer reflect the value you feel it deserves.

Surely a 158 is a 158. Just a reskin isn’t it? I am open to disagreement but I would like some evidence.

There's other changes, internal and external, than just a reskin.

read the roadmap then. It's not just a simple reskin and it requires changing the model. Skyhook just aren't going to work for free. At the end of the day, they are a business and if paying for it bothers you, just don't buy it.

How's this for evidence, just the cab end requires new additions, plus the interior of the cab and that's before you have to change the passenger interior. Img_2024_04_18_19_40_33.jpeg Img_2024_04_18_19_40_56.jpeg
