OK so tried the float 18hook single red maggot on observatory n you can catch silvers - tench,bream, roach, catch rate is mildly slow n the inward drift makes striking more difficult as line is always slack. . .if you try to reel n tighten you move the float as wind rate post cast is to rapid. . .the float then drifts in even quicker. . think if the float could be steadied then it may improve catch rate. . .this was on a static lake n still drifts 3-5yds per min. . . longer term adjustable depth would be good. . .also shortest cast is too long n then you cant reel in as drift in speeds up. . . .is a useful tool in online tourns when works properly . . .anyway if ya change to leger on same bait 12hook, you drift either L to R or R to L relatively quickly n start to catch quite a few (too many) carp amongst the silvers. . . thought was time i was a little less sarcy lol
