A thread with just random thoughts & potentially discussing those thoughts further around WOS & NWR or anything in that subject.... I'll go first.... Thought: Brakes - specifically, vacuum & air brakes. You know, if NWR actually followed railway laws & had through vacuum or air braking in their rolling stock, alot of issues with the troublesome trucks would disappear very quickly. The ride quality for passenger on coaching stock would also vastly improve too, instead of dealing with the shunts from the locomotive taking off or braking sharply (James, Thomas & Gordon, looking at you lot). The majority of the locomotives already have vacuum brakes fitted, as evident by their vacuum brake pipes on either end & gauges in the cab. Also, boot laces. Just food for thought....
