  1. I am curious about why DTG has reacted this way. I know that breaking an NDA is pretty serious business, but these leaks have happened loads and it seems strange that it is only now that people are being punished. The multiple leaks from JD. That news article about TSW4. LIRR2 being leaked via the trophies on PlayStation. Why is action only being taken now and not the many previous times this happened? If you didn't want further leaks, DTG should have done something the first time this happened, and then maybe the leakers would have realized that their actions have consequences. Instead, DTG let this happen, multiple times. Never with a statement. But only now have they not only acknowledged the leak, which afaik is the first time this happened, they seem to have banned discussion of future leaks? Why is DTG blaming the community for this leak when it occured from one of their beta testers THAT THEY SELECTED THEMSELVES! If you don't want to risk leaks, don't hire beta testers from the community. Test it yourself! But of course, that would make it so much more difficult finding bugs, so here is a better solution: Ban discussion of leaks that have already occurred! Or at least that is what DTG moderators think will solve this. Banning discussion of a leak aint going to unleak it. Next time, be more careful about who you trust!

DTG certainly don't do themselves any favors when it comes to leaks. That's why I wasn't even suprised that this happened

  3. So far, we have had at least one major leak a year since I joined these forums.
In 2021, the Rush Hour routes were leaked 2 days before they were revealed.
In 2022, JD leaked TSW3 about a month before it was revealed IIRC
In 2023, TSW4 was leaked on that (french?) news site.
In 2024, LIRR2 was leaked, and WCML and subsequently TSW5 were leaked.
And these are just the notable ones. This won't even be counting any less notable leaks. Who knows what we might get in 2025 in regards to leaks? It is not a matter of if but a matter of when with leaks these days, and I have no doubt that in 2025, TSW 6 is going to get leaked months ahead of release, as was the case many times before.

We will just have to wait for the TSW 6 leak in 2025 ;)

  5. and then TSW 7 in 2026, 8 in 2027, and so on. DTG is almost worse than EA at this stage. *cough cough* yearly sports releases *cough cough* microtransactions so ludicrous that it was banned in Belgium *cough cough*

Just for clarity (I can't be the only one wondering about this), does:

include reference to leaks? Obviously I suspect sharing them is off the cards, but would discussing them be considered a violation?

    Cheers.

Maybe they need to give one version an extra year so that the digit can correctly correspond to the last digit of the year.... Tsw6 in 2026, tsw7 in 2027 and so on but eh why would it matter anyways

As none it was done face to face but electronically how can they know who to trust? They need beta testers and as there presumably isn't a beta tester blacklist then how can they know who to trust?

You sign a legally binding agreement. It is on that irresponsible person who breached it, not DTG or anyone else.

Why is it that there seems to be excuses all the time for bad behaviour and no one seems to be subject to personal responsibility anymore?

As for moderating I think the way the forum is run is fine I don't expect them to work their weekends. I think new posters being restricted is wise.

I do find it funny how anyone who is positive about TSW is considered an apologist!

The "leaks" by DTG are usually done on purpose as a way to promote what's to come, and sometimes they are done by a screenshot such as how the 700 was first "leaked" and sometimes done months in advance to test the water. They are a business and can control what is revealed, the OP who posted the leaks over the weekend knew exactly what they were doing, wait until DTG staff have gone home for the weekend and then BAM, Leak the content to the forums.

Now DTG are on damage control to find out who the leaker is, there could be financial ramifications as well or licensing issues with these leaks, they may not have been allowed by contract to reveal what is coming until a certain date.

While the DTG staff and forum moderators are Human and do need rest just like everyone else, I don't think it would do any harm for someone from the team to log on say Saturday Evening or Sunday morning for a few minutes, just do a quick peruse to see if everything is ticking along fine and then carry on doing what they're doing.
