Forza Horizon 4 Will Be Off Online Stores Soon

At the price it is now, I’m almost tempted to buy it again on Steam (already have it on Xbox) and play through it from the beginning on my Steamdeck. Off on holiday soon and that’ll keep me busy while travelling. It’s a fantastic game.

Yes, and that's the cool thing about it. There are absolutely normal, classic or even special cars in there as well. There are even three trucks in it, like the MB Unimog.


The fun thing is that you also can tune up these quite normal cars, give them customized liveries (make sure to check all the fantastic liveries out done by the people) and make them fast. One kind of interest for me after playing this game for so long is see what you can do with cars and how they can look different.

Important is to say that you also can have an unlimited amount of the same car in your garage, but all in different varieties.

For some cars, I have my own quite decent collection.

If I recall correctly there are 3 3-wheelers in the game. The Reliant, The Peel and the one BMW.

You definitely need to check out how the physics behave on them on higher speeds.

And specifially for the physics of the Reliant, there is this video I can recommend to you. The mini is in the focus, but chased by a herd of reliants which can't handle the physics.

No game is for everyone I guess. What it makes so special to me is the amount of possibilities and the freedom I can have with it, which provides the replayability after years. However, I also know a few weaknesses of the game or lets say things which are not the cup of the tea for everyone but the benefits of the games and these in comparison to other games, what you get for it, is unbelievable.

The world, the graphics and the attention to detail is definitely top notch.




As I said before, if you don't like the intended gameplay elements and events, use the world as a playground for your own fantasy. Some cars allow to have immitent emergency lights attached, for others which don't you can creata a custom livery like I did here.



You also just can turn it into a car simulator, adjust physics and tunings in a way that the car comes close to real life behavior, choose manual gearing, turn off the map and you can drive your favorite real life cars in an adapted to real life world with lots of details.

I will do so as well, but I'm in a bit different kind of situation as I already own the game on Steam and the weird thing is that Steam does not allow you to add the same game (in a better version) twice to your account. It only allows to purchase me it for somebody else I believe.

I would even had paid the amount of full price new - without the consideration of the amount of money I've paid for the Deluxe Edition before - but Steam simply does not allow that.

Now if I want to get in joy of the DLCs I don't own, I have to create a second Steam account (which even wouldn't be a big problem), however and that's the biggest downfall, this would be attached to a complete new Xbox profile I guess, so that I lose or better say can't access my current progress of the old profile.

I guess I'm buying the Ultimate Edition with a second account though.

I also know the C Class Mercedes well. We used to have this in the family once. Unfortunately and this is something I don't understand, is why this one is only available for the AI traffic and not for the player. I really would loved to drive the car on my own, but its not possible.

I have a quite of collection of the E 63, the only Mercedes coming close to it, though.

 

Well thanks to OldVern pointing out it’s on sale. I purchased it for Steamdeck and now the morning is already over and I have done nothing that I should have. I’d forgotten quite how good this game is and I’m really enjoying starting again. Finding it funny that I’m so used to driving on the right, I’m spending most of my time crashing into oncoming traffic.

But now I must put the controller down and go out into the real world.

RobertSchulz What exactly is the "Ghosts ON" setting doing, in the "HUD & Gameplay" options? Will turning it off enable crashing into other players in Freeroam? Or is it for other game modes?

I've just gotten hold of it and will see if I can put a V12 engine in it .

Excellent! I'll pop up as "Swindonwarrior", even though not in MP I just did a race with Spikee1975 as one of the other cars so not sure if that was live or not.

 

I was online, but it wasn't me you were racing against. If the map symbol shows a D inside the circle, it's the AI "Drivatars", they are picking real usernames to make it a bit more immersive to race against AI.

You will see me in Freeroam as soon as you unlock the Autumn season (and we happen to be on the same server, as I understand each server hosts a max of 72 players).

All online features will be unlocked upon reaching Level 20.

I picked up the ultimate edition quite some months back, got a lot of the game completed, gonna try and get some stuff from the auction and that what won’t be available after it’s servers go down

There is one dlc it says I don’t have and apparently it’s free according to the page though I keep getting an error every time I go to purchase it. It’s a hot wheels pack.

 

The Hot Wheels™ pack is the only pack that's not included in the Ultimate Edition. It says so on the Xbox store too. Not available on Steam, probably licensing issues with Mattel.

 

Just as well, as I think I might have rammed you! I actually managed to come first in the race which is unusual for me. Most racing games, going back to Geoff Crammond’s F1 Grand Prix on the Amiga I tend to come dead last.

 

F1GP on the Amiga... I completed that on 100% (full race length), and said to myself "no savegame during qualifying or race", if I'm out, I'm out, then it's next race - to raise immersion and learn to deal with frustration and improve myself, learning when to find the right moment to attack. Won 15 out of 16 races on the hardest level eventually. This was so immersive and a remarkable game back then, I drove the final laps as if I were in trance, everything flowing without thinking... 32 years have passed... to this day I feel I know these 16 circuits like the back of my hand. The old Acque Minerali chicane in Imola was very unforgiving...

 

Probably because I was trying to drive with the keyboard! It was only when I started playing the Amiga flight sims like F16 Combat Pilot or the Microprose titles that I invested in a joystick, which made racing a bit easier.

Was wondering how far into FH4 before you can go to the Autoshop and grab the different vehicles, that are unlocked? Get the feeling the first stages of the game are holding your hand and keeping you on a set path.

Don't worry, the game will reward you very quickly. I've already got 95 cars.

Btw, check the Steam DLC page. There's 3 free DLC you should add to your library, 2 Mitsubishis and a Talbot.

 

Got the ultimate edition yesterday. Lots of fun, need to play with steering wheel settings a little .

 

The Mitsubishi pack also seems to be missing

After having the game for two years or so, I have only today realised that you can 'decorate' you're own cars. Actually spent a good hour or so just messing about with bits, then ended up downloading a couple other people had done.

Out of interest would anyone know how to get screenshots from my Xbox to the PC as I have my MG and another car I had many years back as well and feel left out not being able to show them!

If anyone’s seeking the rare cars (ones that will likely be gone for good when the game shuts down properly as they ain’t available usually outside the events and auctions) (I doubt they will keep it online much longer if it’s not for sale) I would recommend you hunt them down now, theirs quite a lot of them and some are hard to get even for 20 million on the auction, others seem like they won’t be accessible anymore as no one is willing to part with them on the auction.

I managed today to get the Ferrari Evolution (pretty sure it’s the fastest car in the game) for over 8 million and trying to get the Raesr Tachyon for 10 million (might not even get it at that as they are going for 20 million)

I’ve been selling my cars what I can buy back from the in game anytime store like the Veneno, Enzo, La Ferrari, Chiron, Veyron, Auto Union 30’s vintage car etc to try and fund the gathering of these expensive rarities, if people on the auction are selling them, I would grab them as it looks like the only people who will have them when it shuts down fully will be the ones with them in their garages.

 

Online servers will continue, just the expired licensing required withdrawal from stores.

and saving up possibly 20 million each will take a long long time if you really wanted them, I have a list of 128 cars what ain’t accessible through normal means of the game.

 

Managed to unlock the Autoshow last night so treated myself to the Hillman Imp and Morris Minor! The latter cranked up to about 85 MPH top speed so won’t be winning any races, but a nice way of travelling between events.

Found I had to drop the difficulty level a peg as after the first couple of wins, suddenly the AI “got gud” and I was finishing last every time.

And further advice for us newbies, from what I’ve read elsewhere, the Prologue takes you through all four seasons after which the rest of the game unlocks. Reckoned to take around six hours of gameplay to reach that stage.

 

I wouldn’t worry too much about any servers being taken down. The FH3 servers were around for a long time after the game was delisted. As far as I know they are still available, but I don’t have the game installed to check. There are still a lot of players playing online for FH4, so in my opinion the worst that will happen is that they’ll start reducing capacity.

The car I’m going to be trying to get will be the Ken Block RS200. If I remember correctly this is the best for anything Off Road.

 

I use the ps app to transfer my photos onto my phone. If Xbox is similar you can send a message to a friend on the PS, then transfer to the app and download it to your phone.

Few of mine, I know it's GT7 but having tried my method to ensure it works!!

 

They only took down the FH1 and 2 servers this time last year after 13 and 9 years respectively. FH3 has a bit of life left in it, I imagine.

Big shame games go off the store completely after so long over silly little legal stuff. Some of them gone for good and completely inaccessible for other people.

licences need to be changed so that they apply to games permanently not for in retrospect such a short amount of time, even DTG manage to do that with the TOC like GWR. Even when they didn’t have GWR, GWE was not pulled.

Got a flashing icon on LHS of the screen which advised of an event to join. Only two other players who dropped out halfway through so I won by default!

 

i spent many hours during lockdown playing forza 4. although it doesn’t really take my interest anymore, it’ll always be a great game

 

Currently buying it for friends who never got it. Back on sale in the XBox Black Friday sale so expect it to be in the Steam one in a week and a half.

 

I picked this up to have a casual racing game to dip into on my PC, and it's quite fun. Early on, I won a giant 1963 VW van variant that came with its Launch and Acceleration attributes maxed out. One quick livery swap later, and I now have a Scooby Gang Mystery Machine that's the size of a small building and yet can smoke much smaller cars in drag races. This is delightful.

 

Yes, I love how the developer made fun and make it possible that something like the Volkswagen T2 can be turned into a race car (this only can be done with the Forza Edition (FE) of it, not the standard edition) and have a couple of them in my collection. It's one of my favorite go-to vehicles in-game to just have fun with. The in-cab view is also quite nice.

There is also a cute Thomas the Tank livery available for it.

 

How is Forza 5? I hear the map is a bit meh.

 

The map is nowhere near as good as FH4. It’s still a very enjoyable game for me though. I do the weekly challenges almost every week. I think I’ve missed 8 since it came out.

 

I love FH4, but it is also an older game. As a car guy i kinda miss the more modern cars.
