New French suggestion : Nantes - Les Sables d'Olonne before its electrification. The route is 112km/69mi long and is not electrified with a mix of double track (Nantes - La Roche sur Yon) and single track (La Roche Sur Yon - Les Sables d'Olonne) which could be an interesting point. The route is rural in terms of scenery and for fans of old period with its "atmosphere" and diesel train, this route is for you since it takes place in the early 2000s with rolling stocks from that period (although some lasted into the modern period). Stations: Nantes Saint-Sébastien-Pas-Enchantés Vertou La Haie-Fouassière Pallet Clisson Montaigu L'Herbergement - Les Brouzils Belleville sur Vie La Roche-sur-Yon Les Clouzeaux La Mothe-Achard Olonne-sur-Mer Les Sables-d'Olonne Rolling stocks: BB 67400 + RRR (Rames Réversibles Régionales) BB 67400 used in France for freight, commuter, TER and even intercity. The RRR arrives at almost at the same time as the TER brand is launched (1985 for RRR and 1986 for TER). It is used for omnibus services. BB 67400 + Corail The most iconic rolling stock in France after the TGV: the Corail , they are used for regional services like today. And lastly, the reason why I made this suggestion precisely at this period : "The TGV Vendée" , how do you run a TGV on a non-electrified route? By coupling it with a diesel locomotive : CC 72000 + TGV Atlantique Yeah, it existed. The only TGV service that received this special treatment and somewhat bizarre treatment until 2004, it will be interesting to have that on TSW, I think. In addition to having a new TGV variant ,even if theoretically we don't drive it. But it could be reused on other routes. And bonus (It's not mandatory to include it, but I would like to) : X4630 for local services like the RRR, that will at least give one train that doesn't need a locomotive. Drivable Service : - Omnibus with RRR (and X4630) : Stop at all stations , 1h40-1h50 - Semi direct with Corail : Stop at Nantes , Clisson, Montaigu , La Roche sur Yon and Sables d'Olonne , 1h30 - TGV Service : Stop at Nantes , La Roche-sur-Yon and Sable d'Olonnes , 1h20 perfect for a long journey with "TGV" This route is ideal if you enjoy medium and long journeys. Possible Extension : Cholet Branch (starting from Clisson) , need to add another 38km/24 mi and 4 stations. Cugnad Boussay la bruffière Torfu Cholet This extension would be beneficial for the X4630 (even if RRRs could be passing through there), which was a major train on that branch and that will make the route a "Y-route" with two branches. However, it will be very long: 150 km/93 mi. The Nantes - Cholet services take approximately 1 hour to travel. The electrified period is also quite good because we have a light rail in addition between Nantes and Clisson, Regio2N, AGC, Regiolis and other trains but I didn't choose this period because nowadays there are really a lot of different trains that run between Nantes and Les Sables d'Olonne, and besides, I really wanted my TGV Vendée. I find interesting a french suggestion that isn't necessarily modern (even though I'm more of a modern period fan). Since this is from a old period, I may make mistakes; please don't hesitate to correct me if I've made one.
