built by the deceased Fiat Ferroviaria acquired by Alstom in the 2000s it was the very famous variable-setting train, better known as Pendolino. The boxes could tilt 8 degrees allowing the train to tackle the curves at a higher speed than a traditional train. This earned precious minutes in a landscape where high speed was still on paper. Entered into service in '88 has continued for 26 years and is now subject to recovery by the body for the conservation of historic Italian rolling stock. An icon of railway transport whose progenies still meander through the most impetuous corners of Europe. Tilting technology is still used on trains like the Ice3T and has been used on many trains scattered throughout Europe
