By know we all know that crashes are the thing now. This is typical an as well we’ve might as well get used to it fast. Crashes won’t go away. Crashes are here to stay. DTG know you know and everyone else know this is crash born central. So with that being said remember to remind your console your pc and all other units it ok to crash as many time as you wish. The bugs don’t mind it at all. Yes sometimes we all feel like throwing our console pc and all other units out of the window due to crashes. But once again the crashes are here to stay. This is typical very unfortunate and unpleasant isn’t it.
Never had a crash on PC. Think I have had one on PS5. So, whilst I appreciate your frustration, and there clearly are some issues, it's not affecting everyone in the same way.
I think I've had one crash on pc did a graphics driver update and pc restart and been fine ever since
This isn't anything new. Been getting random crashes on PC right back to the 2020 version. Tsw5 hasn't jumped off a cliff yet though.
The only crashes I've had so far is during fast travel when collecting the collectables on WCML and the German route. Fulda something
I’ve had quite a few crashes on Frankfurt lately and had my first 2 crashes on WCML yesterday. Annoying as I think I’ve had more crashes since release than I’ve had throughout TSW 4. I know it’s still early days but the game still feels quite choppy on those 2 routes, hopefully it’ll get better when they start releasing updates.
I am only having crashes when opening Voralberg. but that's probably due to mods. apart from that pretty much every dlc works fine
To be fair, just the one crash here which was after using the “new” 2D map but that doesn’t take away the fact many are having issues particularly on console where the hardware is constant on that particular machine.
The only time I've had consistent crashes on PC was when I had some broken mod installed. Otherwise the game has been rock solid for me, as was TSW4.
Isn't this mainly a configuration problem on PC? I think I've never had a crash since TSW4 on PS5. So TSW is build rather crash proof on at least 1 configuration: the PS5 configuration
I've had one crash when in the 2D map. I can't recall any other crashes with TSW. Had a few with TSC. I'm on PC and not a particularly powerful one.
Like many of the others that have commented, I haven’t had a crash in TSW5 or 4 (that I can remember) for that matter. What error messages do you receive? If you are on PC, what is being logged? I would suggest there has to be an underlying reason why your system is so unstable, but the program runs well on other systems.
I gave a run on BPO - fine. I tested probably the busiest route I have - Brighton to London. All ok, just about as laggy as on TSW4, maybe a little more or was I looking too much for it? I then route hopped to SEHS St. Pancras - ok. Then I fast travelled to Ashford and got a crash on arrival. Reboot and try that final move again was fine. I see no reason at the moment to move to TSW5 so will continue with non-crashy 4, at least until they get a patch/es out and the community feel happier about it. When Preston-Carlisle comes along, that'll be the crunch time methinks...
TSW runs fine for me. Haven't had any crashes for a few months (apart from the already reported crash with the live map, even then that was only once).
Where are all these crashes happening? In maybe 18 months I've never had a crash on PC. Is it more common on console maybe? Certain routes?
Yeah, and DTG are aware to the extent that they suggest saving and loading on approach to Euston. I wasn't paying much attention as doesn't apply to me but someone may be able to find the appropriate post.
Just to add my feed back, I have had two "crashes" when attempting to use the new live map. TSW5 on PS5 just hangs permanently and responds to nothing I tried. The game can be closed from the PS5 main menu. I also got a similar non responsive game hang when I tried the fast travel option and this too still allowed game closure form the main PS5 menu. As for performance on TSW5/PS5 I must report a mixed bag. Victoria to Brighton seems improved especially on the Victoria to Croydon stretch. ECML seems to have worsened in built up areas especially round Doncaster. Blackpool seems as choppy as TSW4 in certain places. Cathcart (upgraded) seems to stutter as badly as TS4W4. The new option to switch layers in and out makes a huge difference on some routes (ECML) but hardly affects others like Blackpool. Cathcart seems a bit better but certain sections are still too choppy to be enjoyable to play. MML, Edinburgh to Glasgow, ECW and WCL seem to run ok. All in all TSW5 offers a few useful new features but does not represent a huge difference from TSW4. The most desired thing for me is without a doubt an improvement in performance/reduction in stuttering and frame drops and whilst this seems to have been improved on some routes it has also worsened on others. New options like the live map and fast travel are so unreliable to me as to be useless and best avoided. Also the content manager for TSW5/PS5 is an absolute chaotic mess with daft entries for TSW3 and TSW4 content displaying for no apparent reason other than to create confusion. I have NEVER owned TSW3! I got the free TSW5 starter pack and am not interested in the routes that came with TSW5 apart from WCML+390. Given the problems with TSW5 core and the still unsatisfactory performance coupled with poor community feedback regarding WCML, I will not be buying it until it becomes available in a sale with a very hefty discount. In that I am disappointed because I wanted to reward DTG for their change in marketing policy by paying full price for the latest British content but I feel that in the state that TSW5 is currently in I cannot justify the £45 outlay.
Never had a crash on any of the 3 PCs I've used for TSW since 2017. My problems with the game lie elsewhere.
Victoria to Brighton has always worked well for me, even before I switched to a Series X. ECML, again, works fine (I have just completed a service ending at Doncaster and the performance was the same as TSW4. Blackpool also works fine for me.
Saving function works fine now on TSW5? I've tried that scenario again on WCML and the only thing i did different this time is change cab by walking inside train, still crashed when leaving Euston whit tilting disabled
My series x was fine with TSW4 but TSW5 has alot of issues stuttering especially near Euston crashing although mine hasn't crashed yet DT need to sort it out the game is unplayable like that
Yeah I heard that the 2D map freezes up. Long and behold it happen to me more then twice in one day shame.
2d map freezes on xbox series x and general performance is poor. Also Blackpool crashed on me twice now. When are we getting some updates it's all very quite.
Yeh that happened to me on the map although it didn't crash it paused for about a minute then worked like I keep saying the game shouldn't of been released like that constant stutters and crashes
The most frequent crashes for me are when I'm adding or removing services in timetable mode. Or when I set a path. I guess the dispatcher gets in a muddle sometimes.
Detail from DTG in this thread. From last year. Might still be relevant as probably nothing has changed since then. Announcement - Xbox Crashes - Weekend Update | Dovetail Games Forums Also this.
Crashes are very rare for TSW, in contrast to TSC which had them far more often. If you have them, it is not caused by the game, but you messed to much with mods or engine.ini settings, drivers and so on.
As far as I understand it, most of the crashes are happening on specific consoles which don't have mods, cannot edit engine.ini settings, don't require driver updates and so on. Given that, I agree with your fundamental point within the context of my own experience, that on PC I cannot recall ever having a crash. This despite running mods, editing the engine.ini settings, and hardly ever updating my drivers. I suspect the problem lies elsewhere......
UE crashes galore since the beginning, but I don't think I've ever had the game itself crash to desktop
I haven't experiences ANY crashes on PC and don't recall any on previous versions of the game either.
yeah that method don't work i have tired it and it failed still crashes and a fix to this probably will be soon hopefully
Fortunately I never had any crashes on PC, even though I have a quite old system. Is it more of an issue on old gen consoles?
In the past I had crashes in TSW2020, TSW2 & TSW3 on my old desktop under Windows that had NVidia cards, first GTX780 and next GTX1080Ti. All the crashes were somehow related to graphics driver, despite being spread in over 3 years, 2 different models of graphics cards and using various versions of the graphics drivers (they were completely removed when replacing cards and were updated regularly). No other UE4 games were crashing with similar error. So far I've had no crashes in neither TSW2020, TSW2, TSW3 nor TSW4 on Steam Deck under Linux, which is using AMD graphics instead. I haven't launched TSW5 yet, despite it being installed for a week now, so I can't say if anything changed.
I get random UE4 crashes to the desktop in TSW5; usually when restarting services from the menu or sometimes just returning to the main menu. I have also had a few CTDs during services as well I have alot of mods installed, so unsure if it is one of them causing it. I updated latest gfx drivers which didnt seem to fix it Its not frequent enough for me to worry about it too much but I would love to sort it out as I never had these crashes in TSW4 PC obviously
Unfortunately not. TSW 5 keeps crashing on Series X very frequently - even video memory errors. For context, previous iterations of TSW have worked fine on Series X.
Haven't had any crashes on PC so far, but out of curiosity I tried Frankfurt-Fulda on XSX (Game Pass) yesterday for the first time and it softlocked the console after completing the 2-minute route.
Hasn't crashed at all for me on Series X. Then again, I haven't had much chance to play it. Or maybe I'm just somehow lucky.
I'm on Series X and have had a few new, recent problems with TSW 5 regarding the game closing to the Xbox home screen. Firstly, this happened during the scenario planner section of the main menu. Then, the game also closed back to the Xbox home screen again while I was playing Koln-Aachen - this is frustrating as this route has always worked fine on previous iterations of TSW on Series X. Also, still getting the regular video memory errors on Frankfurt-Fulda, again on Series X. I hope these issues can be sorted as soon as possible as it's ruining my enjoyment of a game I enjoy very much.
