Having folded and bought it after getting the discount from BCC via Humble Bundle, pretty much as expected and reported. The route itself looks nice enough and the 323 is a pleasure to drive. The short length is disguised in some respects by the frequency of the stops. There is definitely a Cathcart vibe about it, crying shame if Manchester Piccadilly goes to waste. Station should be alive with Pendolinos, Voyagers, other Northern services, 319’s, DMU’s et al. Going to keep it but I retain my stance this should have been presented as a period Woodhead route or a Manchester network with the lines out to Stockport, Rose Hill/Marple, New Mills and Stockport to Stalybridge included.
Lmao. You always do this "I'm not buying it, my finger's been hovering above the 'buy' button, tee-hee, but I'm holding strong" song and dance, and it inevitably ends up like this I was wondering if you were going to last 1 week this time 'round. Guess I was a tad too optimistic. ...is there a Cathcart vibe to it? That route had a circle in it, enabling, IIRC, 5 distinctly different types of service (8, if you count return journeys). This route, being a straight line, basically has 1.
Just watched the stream, probably give it a 6/10. Again, there's a powercut at night in a major City. The guard mode is something I'd be interested in though. Is it me or is the texturing on buildings etc. getting worse? I've seen better in TSC
There are quite a few which stop at Gorton. I haven’t found any which stop at Fairfield, but I don’t think there are any in real life either. It’s served entirely by Rose Hill services.
Mine was Bronze 500 / Silver 950 / Gold 1050. It was 5G02 Ardwick T.M.D. - Hadfield (Part 2). I was 1.5 min late, that's the only penalty I can think of
Definitely think the gameplay flow needs to change so you can finish the run, return to free roam, shut down the cab and change ends without the AI jumping in and taking over. Those 10 MPH speed limits make it very hard to arrive spot on time, leaving less than 3’ to change ends. Sorry to tag DTG Matt but can this be looked at please by the coding boffins? Edit: One workaround might be, after arrival at Glossop or Hadfield don’t release the doors straightaway but key out and change ends first. That way when the game drops you back in, you’re sat in the correct end all set up ready to go. But a more elegant and true to real world solution needed.
They appear to have changed the way the lods work with the foliage etc. Assuming you’re on PC and have altered your engine.ini file instructions on how to fix in the description here; https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...19-patches/i3636-uk-route-vegetation-grass-ep If you Peak Forest may I suggest that mod is a must have also
He’s not alone. though. How many vocally complain about the quality, length, etc, of dlc’s and all the bugs they contain yet still end up pressing the purchase button? TSW3 players wonder why DTG really don’t give a fig about putting out a proper quality fully working product or at the very least quickly putting right highlighted bugs. I wouldn’t bother wasting recourses putting things right or putting out a quality product either if I knew the majority of my player base was going to just purchase things anyway. Stop purchasing this [EDIT - Jan - Language] and then maybe DTG will start to respect you more. For the record the last dlc I actually purchased was the free French route because it was free! and because I got it in TSW2 which is all I bother playing these days when it comes to TSW. Never again will I actually spend money on TSW3 or the probably equally bugged TSW4 if it appears which most likely will be a complete money making scam like TSW3 was. I tell a lie maybe if they drop to around a tenner in a sale I MIGHT? consider buying one, ( Peak Forest for example interests me if it ever drops to a tenner and they include a BR Green diesel add on dlc for it ) but at £30 or even £20! No chance! On the subject of this new Glossop route. £20 for such a short route containing only 1 train which those who own BCC already own. Really! you’ve got to admire DTG’s gall for putting this out. A gimmicky guard feature that’s only in one scenario doesn’t even begin to compensate. As for the [EDIT - Jan - Language] photograph feature? Is that really why people buy a train sim type of game?? Finally in response to DTG’s self congratulatory back slapping with regards to how they are attempting to reward their loyal players with a 10% discount off this Glossop joke dlc if you already own the BCC dlc or which platform you play TSW3 on, where is the loyalty discount for those PS players who do own BCC but not PS+? Seems like everyone else gets a discount in some way but not them.
I really love how some people can come on here and try to analyse how I think. Last I heard, it’s a free country. As it turns out, Manchester to Glossop isn’t that bad. Worth £20? Probably not. Worth £18 after getting BCC for a pittance in Humble Bundle - maybe. I am certainly no DTG fanboy or rose tinted spectacle wearer. On the contrary, there are several TSW products I have refrained from adding to my collection due to reported poor quality and others where I wished I hadn’t. For example unlikely to touch Rapid Transit, unless it turns up in a bundle or the BR204. But it is borderline harassment to start questioning the motives and actions of individual forum members who are quite entitled to change their minds.
LOL! I don’t need to analyse how you think because your own words in this thread and your subsequent action says it all fella. It is indeed a free country and you can buy what you like, at no point did I say otherwise, however last time I checked in a free country it’s considered acceptable to express an opinion with regards to someone like you quite vocally saying one thing then doing the complete opposite without being accused of borderline harassment just because my opinion has quite possibly pricked your conscience. Also I deliberately refrained from using the term fan boy because I know some on here have a problem with it so I found it interesting that you chose to use it.
Well you are certainly going to get people listening to your arguments when all you can do is make condescending and insulting statements! It is perfectly possible to be critical of aspects of TSW and indeed get frustrated with it but still find it to be enjoyable and immersive overall.
Yes I would say it needs looking up as the faffing about tends to make you late, especially when I realise I forgot to set the tail lights in the other cab and had to run down the train to set them, and the pesky passengers get in the way. I wish they had done Manchester - Glossop - Hadfield as one service.
Yes absolutley agree unless there is some technical reason why they couldn't but I would hope the despatcher is flexible enough to cope with it. If the services in real life were split and had different train reporting numbers I could understand it, but they aren't.
It is daft if the service runs under the same head code. Another workaround would simply be to propel from Glossop to Hadfield which then puts you at the right end again for returning to Manchester. Highly irregular, but what the hey. Other thing I need to test is whether chaining services survives the save game, i.e. doesn’t lose the clock and objective data/lollipop on subsequent runs.
I’m not making an argument but merely expressing an opinion. What’s the point of many people on here whinging ( Quite rightly in many cases ) about the quality, length and numerous bugs that stop you fully completing a game you’ve paid for only for them to purchase these dlc’s anyway in many case for full price? Those same people then continually whine that DTG continue to put out not fit for purpose product and refuse to quickly put right highlighted bugs via fixes. You and others might not like what I’m saying here but do you all seriously wonder why DTG are basically not putting their full effort into delivering what they have actually been paid to deliver. As for insulting statements? since when was expressing a validly held personal opinion considered insulting just because people like you might deep down think I might have a point ( Not that you will ever admit to that ) At least I stand by my convictions by refusing to buy anymore TSW3 dlc’s until they get their act fully together ( Unless as previously stated they go on sale at a severely low price point that reflects what your actually getting ) Cancel culture might be the new norm but not in my world. LOL!
Yes, everybody if they’ve made a specific ini change. The fix is in the description of the mod, you don’t need the mod itself.
The reason is probably because ai drivers couldn't change head/tail lights during one service, as Matt mentioned this problem somewhere before.
I’m definitely thinking it’s a TSW limitation the ending and restarting of services. It is hard to keep to time, as it is in reality! Especially on that Dinting - Glossop - Hadfield - Glossop - Dinting section! But after my initial review, I’m still really enjoying it, haven’t got bored, and it’s even one you can play HUDless!
Let me say this - though shhweeet#4292 's post seems offensive (and nowadays everyone's easily offended), he certainly has a point. Seeing it on a large scale (take your time and browse this forum), the habit of putting out DLC in state you can call "Early Access", is strengthened by customers who instantly purchase on release. The more people do this, the less intention for the developer to invest any more time in fixing issues with that DLC, and they'll continue with that strategy. MML was a good example, it was released in a questionable, non professional state. A flood of bug reports, and Skyhook's manager dropping in here talking about their product having gotten "amazing feedback". (Quantity wise, that's true.) If it wasn't for the bad Steam reviews and loss of customers, I am pretty sure they wouldn't have felt the need to do what they are apparently doing now - addressing the issues. I certainly like supporting new or small developers by funding Early Access games, UBOAT was a good example were your trust in them has paid, it's become an awesome piece of software. Why DTG needs to act this way, I don't know. There is financial pressure of course. But I will only buy after patches have been released, never on first day, because it lessens their interest to fix issues because the revenue's already there.
For many a lot of the issues aren't important, we are only a microcosm of the entire player base. If there are major issues, I don't purchase on release, if they are relatively minor and I can live with them then I do. I was on the verge of refunding MML due to the timetable when Jane popped up with her thread. I didn't purcase LFR, NYT and BRO on release due to issues. For a lot of people a route becomes "unplayable" due to a particular issue, when in reality for many it is an irritation and the route is perfectly playable. It should be easy to put a point of view across without being insulting.
I agree with what you say overall. I say that as someone who will probably end up buying Glossop even though I've been critical about it for a number of reasons. To me it's just a little diversion that costs about the same as a couple of lattes at my local coffee house. I will likely play it for a couple of weeks and then put it in a closet with a few other routes I don't play anymore. Having said all that I think shhweet#4292 has a valid point. It comes down to DTG having an effective monopoly in the trainsim business. We can all talk about other games that operate on the fringes, but, for most of us, there's really only one game that scratches our itch. So we have, as one DTG employee put it recently to " just swallow that, I'm afraid ". You can only talk to customers in that way if you know they have no real alternative. We take what's on offer or we do without. We keep buying very simply because we're addicted to driving trains, and DTG provides the fix. So it goes.
And DTG are well aware of this, releasing short routes increases our "hunger" for more. It seems people are starting new speculations the very moment they are playing their new route. Done, so what's next? To me it seems like a business plan (that works), not technical limitations preventing longer routes and well-tested releases. And maybe the large player base is happy with short routes, which I have to "swallow" - or not by just not buying. Don't get me wrong, I wish everyone to get enjoyment from TSW, and the lower your expectations, the easier you achieve contempt and happiness. I just see it from a more general perspective, as there's a clear pattern cycle to be seen on the forums.
I got it and enjoy playing it. I don’t mind that it’s short especially when you can do a quick run if you’re short of time. Maybe the DB hoppers would be a bit more authentic if they were given a weathered look. The same can be said with the 323. Overall though it’s a thumbs up from me.
I also don't wholly disagree with his point, as I said, I hold off buying DLC if they have too many issues until they have been resolved. But, it is no-ones business how we spend our money and what reasons we have to do so. However aside from my musical acitivities, railways, and in particular TSW is my biggest leisure interest and I get much enjoyment out of it, it has given me an interest in non-UK railways I never had before. Therefore, I am not going to cut my nose off to spite my face and not purchase some DLC in a show of camaraderie because some angry people think there should be a boycott. The Glossop route has very few issues, certainly compared to some releases, certainly none that make it "unplayable" and was a worthwhile purchase.
ROFL! Not on here it isn’t! Dare to say something others don’t agree with on anything to do with TSW3 especially those who think they are the elite few players on here ( Although they will probably try to deny that ) and you run the risk of being accused of things like practising border line harassment? ( I mean seriously!? ) or a validly given and held opinion as insulting?? Comments that have been aimed directly at me which I personally find baseless and pretty insulting tbh. Disappointing but not surprising that the moderator didn’t feel the need to edit their language. But hey! that’s the nature of internet forums for you.
Hey there, you are always free to discuss any topic and we also welcome constructive criticism. All we ask is that you do so in a respectful and civil way, without insulting other users. Please keep in mind that it is not for you to decide what others find insulting or hurtful, if others point out such bad behavior it may be time to stop, look and listen. I'd like to ask you all to please stay on topic for this thread and, instead of engaging and stoking unnecessary arguments, report content that violates our forum rules. Enjoy your weekend, Jan
I have only done a few runs but I am really enjoying the route so far. The details in the scenery are good and I am very happy to see they have included a reasonable amount of freight services (including daytime!). The only issue I have encountered is that silver and gold medals appear to be unachievable on the freight service I have played.
Loving this route a lot. Couple things I noted. They may have been mentioned already. One of the safety system key switches puts the key in the hole above the one you're trying to move. Not game breaking. The proper function still happens. I think it's the vigilance switch but I'd have to look again. On approach to Godley Station (heading toward Manchester) you'll see a green signal before the station with an AWS alarm ahead of it. After the platform there is a yellow signal that does not trip any AWS alarm. Seems incorrect. Finally, right before entering Manchester Piccadilly, there is a green signal for your final signal. I feel like it should be yellow on approach to the buffer stop. Could be correct though, I'm not sure.
That unfortunately did not work. I set both values in the .ini to "3", no change. But: If I disable "Motion Blur" in the game options, the trees no longer become transparent. However, TSW then plays quite strangely, which I don't like that much. It looks less fluid. Please DTG, fix this in the next update.
Okay so how do you take the photograph? I've moved to the marker, focused on the train so the crosshair is green. Press LMB as indicated and nothing happens.
I believe you must say out loud the word "Cheese". Once the game picks up the spoken word the camera should work. (I'll get my coat)
Oh! I beg to differ on most of your observations. Pointless trying to fully respond to you in order to explain why though because you obviously think it’s perfectly ok for someone to directly accuse me of borderline harassment just for expressing and opinion on his hypocritical ramblings earlier in this thread. Do your job and edit his comment because I’m seriously offended by it or does me being offended, insulted, and hurt not matter to you?
I tried that and it worked! Well not exactly, reloaded the save game clicked the mouse and presto it took the picture straight off. Let's see what happens along the line.
You are correct, buffer stops are treated as a red signal so at the last signal taking you into a terminal platform the least restrictive aspect you can receive is single yellow. Unless someone can correct me, I believe DTG have got this right in all of their other routes. How odd to have suddenly got it wrong in this one.
Scroll through the article and there is a section on there. https://live.dovetailgames.com/live...30.457679587.1660442894-2140346962.1598655754
So I've been a big critic lately of a lot of the DLCs instead of been releasing because of the bugs well with the gossip line I'm going to give dovetail games a little bit of credit here It's actually pretty good quality and it's relatively low on the bugs there's a few minor ones but nothing major and the performance is really good so shout out to the team on this one I'll be the first to dish out a compliment where it is due
From the outset I followed your advice re changing ends at Glossop/Hadfield before letting the passengers out and it works every time. Have to say in spite of everything I am enjoying this route.
Glad it worked and yes it is a nice little route, just would have been even better with slightly more of the Manchester rail network included. In fact of the four new routes I picked up, I’ve probably spent most of the time on this one.
