Up and running quite easily. Route and stock are a work of art. Made a start with the R49 Railtour, promptly blotted my copybook by recording a SPAD departing Ealing Broadway when the signal didn’t clear after changing ends and I was able to Tab past it. Will try again later, maybe this is a route where you need to turn off SPAD’s or keep mashing the F2 button. Tell you what though the content here with all sorts of LT stock puts DTG’s £30 TSW DLC offerings to shame.
Sure, they have good bits in there, but I imagine their percentage of good titles is in the single digit, Aerosoft is consistent at one thing only. Also, those titles are quite old, and get very little or no support at all - which again is a typical Aerosoft move.
World of Subways and Im Koblitzer Bergland weren't developed by Aerosoft, they were just the publisher.
Yep. The series was developed by TML which also did the superbe “Berlin Subway” add-on on MSTS. I spent hours on it back in the days it was really great.
Please read the fine print. The name change "will be submitted to a vote by the shareholders at the combined general meeting of 02/28/2024" Says so literally on the first page of the financial brief. https://cdn.focus-home.com/admin/in...20240118_focus_entertainment_q3_202324_en.pdf No way the shareholders vote in favor, I mean, come on. "TERRAIN AHEAD, PULL UP, PULL UP, PULL U----" (Mildly severe headphone warning)
Focus REALLY don't like spending money on vehicle licences. If you have ever played games like MudRunner or SnowRunner, you will know how they'd rather make knock-offs of real-world trucks, instead of paying companies like Ford and Volvo to recreate the real vehicles in-game. I suppose if the Focus name isn't to be seen in Train Sim World, everybody will continue blaming DTG for not aquiring more licences, when it is really Focus who don't want to pay-up.
Last I checked pretty much every western truck is licensed in Snowrunner? It's only the Russian vehicles that are unlicensed, but that's probably due to more complicated matters than price.
No, the last few seasons have been pretty much all knock-off trucks. Focus spent money for the first few seasons, but since around season 6 (when people started complaining about their overpriced DLC packs), they said "screw real trucks" and spammed a load of unbadged copies. Season 11 had some Indian 4x4 scout with a made-up name "Neo Falcon 2000", because they didn't want to pay the real manufacturer.
So could the problem simply be that licenses only increase the price. I don't know if that's true or not, I'm not an expert in this field, but to me it makes sense.
They probably make a good profit either way, with what they charge for season passes and DLC. People will buy their game anyway, so why bother spending any of the guaranteed income on licences?
As regards Snowrunner, once you buy the Zikz 612, you don’t really need anything else! Complete monster… My biggest gripe with Snowrunner is that most of the US/Western based trucks are fairly useless outside the starter maps. Only the Russian based equipment has the brute force to get through intense snow and mud.
Yeah they keep getting turned into scrap metal by the Ukrainians. I'd rather rub hot sauce on my eyeballs than play any game set in Russia.
Snowrunner maps look pretty much the same whatever the territory name over it. I'm currently doing Scandinavia which is very nice, but in all honesty looks nothing like Norway, Sweden or Finland with most of the names on buildings etc. in English! And AFAIR the Snowrunner devs are actually Russian based but I don't let politics determine whether or not I enjoy a game.
With so much content squashed into March, it's clear one of the side effects of the acquisition is the need to get DLC out before the financial year-end on April 1st... 3 full routes plus the Thomas narrative pack in the space of 3 weeks. While it's often a business inevitability with corporations and listed companies, the importance placed on hitting annual results are usually inherently short-termist and rarely compatible with creative arts... everybody will draw their own conclusions as to whether the amount of content being released this month is good for the playerbase. But it's worth bearing in mind that the majority of the folks at DTG are very likely being forced to this schedule - either so that senior management can hit targets to trigger bonus payments, or because Pullup have required it. It's easy to take aim at the public-facing DTG staff, but worth bearing this in mind when delivering opinion and feedback.
Oh I agree. None of any criticism I might make ( and there's plenty ) is aimed at the guys and gals at the coal face, including community managers. In my view the shortcomings of TSW are the fault of senior management/corporate. As far as the rush of releases goes, most players will likely purchase 1 or 2 out of the three, either due to preference or personal finances. DTG can pump out as much content as they want, but the Dutch route is the only one I'm seriously looking at. And the price may dissuade me from purchasing even that. Financial pressures aside, they still have to sell players on quality products at reasonable prices.
I was looking at cardiff and the dutch route as I had no intention to get thomas. the game is a simulator, why would I buy an even more arcade version of the current rolling stock. As cardiff seemed to be very much detailed by Rivet as a lot of people showed in the streams I decided to get it at 40 or so percent off. the dutch route does look promising though
Technically 2 routes and Thomas. Mildmay was a 3rd party and as the developer who made said he needed to see some $$ for the amount of work he has already put in which is why he chose to release it now.
also considering Space Marine II has been a huge hit, also Boltgun (also WH40K game) has been a big hit among WH40K fans, I highly doubt that they are short of money (they have just announced that Space Marine III is in development also cos of SM2 huge success)
