Now I’ve got the performance sorted out it’s a really nice route. It’s too short obviously (I would have happily paid £35 for something this detailed but longer) but the route building, on the whole, is excellent. There are some really nice new custom assets kicking around and I really like the effort that’s gone into modelling more areas of the stations. The new posters, vending machines, graffiti etc are all nicely done.

My only gripe of what I’ve seen so far….the football focus scenario takes you to stations where there are supposed to be football grounds. Where are the stadiums?

I made it abundantly clear that, at almost £2 per mile, it wasn't worth the asking price (even Train Dad who is supposedly one of the 'good guys' said it was not a £24.95 route) and as a result there was no way I was ever going to make a purchase. A point that was said once...because once is enough.

But hey, if you want the nay-sayers hijack what seems to be a generally positive thread then I'm sure that they will be happy to oblige.

This was my view on that comment too, what a bizarre take.

Not doubting it’s a nice route though, looking forward to it hitting the right price point & having a couple of runs.

Thanks everyone for the nice feedback thus far - we're glad you're enjoying playing it! As ever, value is subjective, so it's equally fine for people to feel like the content is or isn't worth it at the current price.

Can I quickly ask what you did to improve performance? Just in case we see anyone else have any issues.

I'm upset that I can't see the mighty Tottenham Hotspur stadium in the distance

I don’t know what was going on last night but the performance was really really terrible. I went back into the route two or three times and it was the same each time. This morning I’ve set up my lighting & graphic EP for the route and the performance is now as I would expect.

I might be wrong as I can’t tell for sure, but it looks very much to me that the cascaded shadow resolution is set to a very high value. The giveaways are how far the rail shadow draws ahead of the train and how sharp it is at the same time. Secondly, the shadows in the cab and on the platforms etc are pin sharp, which also suggests a very high (like, really properly high. Something I’ve only ever seen on other routes when I’ve set the to 8192 resolution, which is about 16K). Amongst other things I’ve reduced them to more ‘normal’ TSW values and can now drive the route with a solid 60fps from end to end. That is whilst, at the same time, having removed pop-in (foliage, track, trees etc)

I’m a happy bunny now anyway, really enjoying the route.

Nice route. Honestly, the sounds and route building are among DTG’s best. We’re heading in the right direction if we can have even medium-length routes modeled this well.

I had complied enough PlayStation “star rewards” to get this route for free so figured I’d jump on it after watching streams.

Just watched some of the DadRail stream and he pretty much nails it. Nice route but even more stop/start than Cathcart or BCC and questionable sounds and brake performance on the 710. Pretty much as I remember the route in TSC with the 172, but at least there was a bit of diesel thrash.

It might have been the streaming app and the other clutter he has going, but you could visibly see the performance drops in some areas too.

Glad to see people are enjoying the route, I love commuter routes like this but its not gonna be worth my £25 in the long run as I will get bored quick

I've played a couple of scenarios now, and I think the route's excellent - well done DTG! For myself, I do love a good commuter route and I expect this one's going to become a favourite.

Cherry on top of the cake - the station lifts actually work!

Stop/start isn’t for everyone. What I like about this and Cathcart is that they’re not an hour and a half long like BCC. BCC starts to get really old after 45 minutes and you’re only halfway done.

Performance works on my machine. Always hard to tell with early reports of performance issues. PC might be master race but the users certainly aren’t, there’s a lot of people that don’t have the aptitude to manage their setup and are probably better off on console… like jetwash figured his issue out fairly quick but with things being so accessible now there’s a lot of other users that probably have never even accessed BIOS, let alone have the ability to troubleshoot performance issues

Be interested to know how this route performs on PS5. If it’s LOVE poor I will grab it in a sale after the PS5 Pro comes out. ;)

Agreed on the stadiums. When you can’t even see West Ham’s London stadium or even that tall red metal frame thing they installed for the olympics. Yet you can see Canary Wharf in the distance is a bit of a let down.

I’d rather generic than nothing. DTG modelled the Olympic Stadium and birds nest statue for TSC, surely they would have been easy to include. From a distance Arsenal and Tottenham’s stadiums are pretty generic, there are definitely assets already there that would have fit the bill. Just a shame they didn’t put at least something in but there you go.

I like the route a lot. Great scenery and the 710 is fun to drive IMO. Not sure how accurate the sounds are but they're mixed nicely. The short platforms and changing gradients add a little challenge. Runs hit the sweet spot of 40-ish minutes for me, and since it's a complete route you can just continue to go back and forth for longer sessions.

My only gripe is the urban night-lighting still doesn't seem right. We don't have the ambient "glow" of a huge city that comes from thousands of streetlamps, lights from windows, car headlights etc.

Obvously there's a performance hit trying to recreate that but maybe they could use some visual trickery to acheive the effect especially in areas that aren't too close to the tracks. IIRC Rockstar did something in GTA4 that provided nice looking distant lighting (including vehicle traffic) that would then be phased out of the scene as the player got closer and the game would then render the actual geometry and lighting. DTG don't have anything like Rockstar's budget but that was also 16 years ago lol so maybe it wouldn't be impossible.

Hate to repeat myself but that's almost word for word what many of us said about the missing Yankee Stadium in New York. If there was a license problem, just make a generic stadium.

But, no. Apparently, DTG are not sports fans, especially soccer and baseball. ;) Except JD I guess. Curiously, first critical words I've ever heard from a CM. ;) ;)

As an absolute minimum I can’t see why those assets from TSC couldn’t have been used for West Ham and a doctored AMEX stadium from ECW for the other two. It’s better than nothing at all, surely? It’s all the more baffling they make a scenario which specifically highlights there are no stadiums to be seen on the skyline.

As someone who lived by this line, I don't think you can see any of the stadiums from the line in real life, maybe if you had a powerful telescope?

I played this route a bit and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! The scenery is perfect. Seeing real videos it seems really well done! The 710 isn't bad. It's simply a standard EMU, like many there are in service in the UK. Maybe a little too aggressive when braking. The only two problems I have encountered are: a sporadic crash of the first service in the morning; automatic emergency brake insertion, below 10mph, entering Barking Riverside. For the rest, excellent work DTG!

But if you don't know the area (like myself) I was looking outside panning around to see the stadiums and couldn't see anything.

Again, the mastery challenge is effectively.... "speed" (Actually is reach 80mph) I believe the fastest is 65mph Edit: unit max is 75 as well -___-
Come on DTG, why another one of these after Cathcart?

Looking at Google maps I’d say that’s almost impossible. The Emirates is so close to Upper Holloway I’d say it’s a slam dunk you could see the structure at the very least. You can see Wembley from miles around and these aren’t small stadiums we’re talking about. I bow to your local knowledge but I find it very hard to see how they wouldn’t be visible to some degree.

It’s not the end of the world obviously, it would have just been nice if they’d been included.

Emirates is about 3/4 mile from upper Holloway, West ham stadium is the only other ground I can think of and that isn't that near the line though Barking would be very busy on a West ham match day.

Barking wouldn't be busy many people would use the jubilee line from Stratford where the stadium is and the start of the line so trains empty, Travel to west ham for C2C and district lines etc.

You could probably see a bit of it from a very high camera but not line level, as the line is in a cut there.

Don't think any of these stadiums are on high ground like Wembley so harder to see

There would be more people using the station on a match day but it obviously wouldn't be like anywhere near Wembley or Finsbury Park on match days, that is quite different.

I live quite near the Emirates and you can only really see it from the east coast mainline or from some of the higher ground around Highgate, for a large stadium it is surprisingly hidden from most places unlike Wembley or even Tottenham which dominate the skyline for a long way, especially Wembley.

Perhaps you could settle this for us. Can you see The Emirates, The London Stadium / Birds Nest Tower or Spurs’ Stadium from the line?

Figured you’d be best placed to answer once and for all!

I am on PS5 and so far (from first run to now on my 10th run) the performance has been excellent, I have seen a couple very very quick stutters in certain high profile areas (when a bunch of tracks come together and lighting/shadows which are excellent btw) happen, but it’s almost unnoticeable. No issues at all with performance, no matter time, lighting and traffic!

    Hi JetWash,

Would you have any recommendations for any lines we could put into the engine.ini to help with the performance if we're not currently using any mods?

    Thanks

Skyhook did a pretty creditable job on the MML with Pride Park and the velodrome in Derby, while sidestepping any licensing issues.

I should add also that I really like the detail inside the tunnels. It adds so much to the route to have that attention to detail.

It doesn’t go unnoticed is I guess what I’m saying :)

They did the same thing with Cathcart for Mastery. You had to exceed the speed limit by a considerable amount. Quite ridiculous really when it’s supposed to be representing a serious simulation - any driver exceeding the speed limit by that amount would be getting more than tea and biscuits at the end of the shift.

In other news, with regard to performance issues well I haven’t bought Goblin but having decided to fire up TSW for a run on BPO just now, the hitching, stuttering and sound crunching is back with a vengeance. So did something get updated in the core that has borked things up?

Just tried this hit 80mph on the line with the 710 it did not trigger the mastery so looks to be broken.

There was a 239mb update to TSW 4, don't know what that was for as no patch notes anywhere. ?

None of the football stadiums are seen or near the line. The walk from Upper Holloway to the Arsenal Stadium is nearest to the line about a 20 minute walk and in a different direction.

Did you hit 80 or 81 out of interest, Also where on the line did you attempt it will give it another go.
