Yes, I could have run a freight service and it probably would have been somewhat more interesting. But you do need to run the 710 most of the time to take advantage of the route. I have found that emu's handle speed and gradient changes with very little effort and with the stations so close together, I felt like I was operating a bus service, accelerating only to coast and slow down almost immediately. Just not my cup of tea and, to be honest, I suspect I kind of knew this might be the case pre- purchase. But I was on the rebound from the disappointment of FCL and was swayed by the forum enthusiasm..

If the Goblin goes on sale later this year, I might repurchase. I have every other British route in TSW, though some, like BCC and Glossop, I probably should have refunded since I don't play them.

One of the major reasons why I don't play UK commuter routes much is the appalling night lighting, which makes them daytime only routes for me.

With the demise of steam and US freight, I'm floundering, not sure where to go in this game anymore. Help!!! ;) ;)

How accurate is the urban scenery? There seemed to be a lot of copy and paste London terraces on the stream and other structures from other routes.

This has been a bugbear of mine for a while. A lot of routes just replicate the same buildings or ignore local geographical detail. Even after all the patches, the area around Minehead station still has generic buildings that look nothing like the characteristic Victorian Hotels and arcades that make it famous. Glossop is similar and the iconic football ground is missing too. On the Rhineland route the same buildings appear in almost every wayside town. And don't mention West Cornwall...

I'm not sure if the game engine is so poor that it can't load too many individual buildings or if it is just laziness on the part of the developers. Even when I was building routes in Trainz I tried to disguise repeated use of similar assets.
