Now... I know that GWE is an old route, but I really think it should be updated a bit. For one thing, they should extend the route up to Didcot Parkway, as many services terminate there (5 stops down the line from Reading). Also, if possible, expansions to the Marlow, Henley-On-Thames, Windsor & Eton Central, and Greenford branch lines would be cool (Heathrow also but no GWR services there...). Another good thing would be some more Locos. Some would be the Class 800/802, 57, 165, and 387. Maybe also we could get the branch to Heathrow with TFL Rail (in which case an TFL Rail route through to Reading should be included), or the Heathrow Express. Could all of this be a thing, or will no one work on it as GWE is an old route? Cheerio, Nidhish
In order to remain in the reflected 2015 era, services would only be run by diesel stock with electric trains only going to Heathrow. Any airport services would require separate licencing which is difficult to acquire. Totally agree with branch services which have long been asked for but also Brentford and Colnbrook freight lines. As for stock, classes 57, 165 and 180 with mk3 sleeper and possibly another diesel locomotive class are the best bets. GWE needs a bit more love to increase variety on this great route.
I agree. But either a more modern version or a completely new section of the Great Western; maybe Bristol Exeter or Plymouth Penzance? Either one would be on my list of routes.
true licensing for Heathrow could be super hard- I thought Bakerloo Line would give access to all things TFL- also for the modern version I think that would be nice with trains out from Penzance and on branch lines, maybe also shunting from long rock TMD (maybe also shunting at Old Oak Common TMD)
Hey Nidhish Inumala have a look through the Cornwall thread Cornwall > Pnz To ... | Dovetail Games Forums
Problem is the line beyond Airport Junction is privately owned by the airport, so would need their permission, also my understanding is airports are not treated as public spaces in the same way stations are in UK law, there is usually a strongly worded sign near the entrance about conditions of entry (passengers, staff and crew only) so DTG would need to get the airport on side if they wanted to model the stations on airport property, as trying to do reference photography under the radar will probably lead to being escorted off the premises by security or plod
What would be better is to stop so much nonsense of expanding routes and focusing on doing other countries, such as Spain, Italy, Portugal, Japan ..... focus on new countries and not on expanding routes which is not so important
Doing routes from countries not yet represented is first subject to license acquisition and will take time, whereas route expansions can be done in the meantime. Some of the routes we already have are not entirely complete which is why many are asking for more expansions.
Well, like it has been said hundreds of times, they slowly are introducing the other countries, but I think they are trying to make the most of the licensing and the knowledge on signalling etc whilst they have it, instead of moving on immediately. I would love to have a Danish Route, but I’m appreciating the fact that it could take a while for that to happen.
