I've recently been attempting 5Z16 on GWE with the 802 and hoping that I get to do a power mode change. However I haven't figured how to do this.
It seems that you're not able to change mode whilst in motion. The when I do stop, I manage to turn the engine on put when I try apply power nothing happens. I've pressed the diesel button countless times as well as holding it down and still nothing.
It's not the brakes as they release and allow me to slowly coast forward because I'm on a slight gradient.

It brings me onto another point that tutorials still seem to be a bit lack luster. There was a period when we were told how to recover after an emergency brake application. But when it comes to unique features of a train/loco such as changing brake modes on old BR stock or power modes, you have to just try pressing buttons until you figure it out and when there's no manual to consult I'm left at a dead end wondering if it's a bug or just me.

This was the way I did it before which was copied from my reply in the Great Western Express Remastered feedback thread.
Drop to Zero power on the PBC and then press and hold the diesel button until it lights up, then press and hold the engine start button for a few seconds. Once that is done, press the lower pantograph button and reapply power.
You don't need to run on diesel until Hayes.
I've done this timetable run twice now and both times successfully completed the power changeover on the move on PS5.

However, this doesn't work now for some reason. The engines won't start at all when moving.
