Name(s): Harrogate Loop Line (HLL) Crimple Valley Line (CVL) Northern Spa Loop (NSL) Information: To view more about this line, visit the wikipedia page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrogate_line You will also note the number of closed stations and lines over time. (Lines include: Otley branch, Pannal-Starbeck, Wetherby, Ripon/Northallerton/Thirsk, Ripley Valley, Boroughbridge.) Year: Modern (2020 onwards) Stations in order (in italics are stations which will not feature in this DLC, see 'in-game route'): Leeds, Burley Park, Headingley, Horsforth, Weeton, Pannal, Hornbeam Park, Harrogate, Starbeck, Knaresborough, Cattal, Hammerton, Poppleton, York. Length: Approximately 34.98km/21.74 miles. Also next to a 20mph restricted sharp curve) Knaresborough Viaduct (located Starbeck-Knaresborough. Also my hometown!) Depot/Sidings Locations: Neville Hill TMD, Holbeck TMD, Horsforth, Harrogate Off Peak Service Pattern (Code: NT = Northern, GR = LNER, *note that LNER services start/end at London King's Cross): NT 1tph: Leeds < all stops > York (In this DLC, player shall alight at KNA, AI take over service. Vice versa.) NT 1tph: Leeds < all stops > Knaresborough NT 1tph: Leeds < Horsforth, Hornbeam Park only > Harrogate GR 1tp2h: *Leeds < non-stop > Harrogate **note, there are 6 a day each way Peak Service Pattern: Generally 1 extra NT Harrogate ALL STOPS (operates peak only, off-peak is limited stop), 1 extra NT Knaresborough service and 1 extra NT York service (which is a NT Harrogate limited stop, extended to York), morning and evening. Trains (***chance = rough % chance in real life of train operating a service on this line): Information I am fully aware that potentially only 1, maximum 2 of the following would be in the DLC at release. The other trains could come as a seperate loco DLC, or another map, to add extra variety onto the services. I recommend the trains with the greatest chance (170, 158, 150) are considered most important, while the less important trains (153, 155, 800) are on the backburner. The trains: Class 150/1 and 150/2 'Sprinter' DMU Carriages: 2 Chance***: 10% If coupled, normally coupled to: 150, 153, 170 (note that when coupled to a 170, either one of the units is ECS (usually the 170) and has its doors locked out of use. They are uncoupled at the terminus.). Livery(ies): Abellio-Serco Old Unbranded Northern Rail New Northern Trains Class 153 'Super Sprinter' DMU Carriages: 1 (is always coupled on this line, NEVER operates as 1 car) Chance: 5% Couples to: 150, 153, 155, 158 Livery(ies): Abellio-Serco Old Unbranded Northern Rail Class 155 'Super Sprinter' DMU Carriages: 2 Chance: 5% If coupled, normally coupled to: 150 (rare), 153 Livery(ies): New Northern Trains Class 158 'Express Sprinter' DMU Carriages: 2 or 3 (2 is more common as there are more of them.) Chance: 15% If coupled, normally coupled to (note, ONLY the 2 car couples, the 3 car operates itself): 153, 170 (note that when coupled to a 170, either one of the units is ECS (usually the 170) and has its doors locked out of use. They are uncoupled at the terminus.). Livery(ies): Abellio-Serco Old Unbranded Northern Rail New Northern Trains Class 170 'Turbostar' DMU Carriages: 3 Chance: 65% Rarely Coupled, but if it is: 150, 158 (note that when coupled, either one of the units is ECS (usually the 170) and has its doors locked out of use. They are uncoupled at the terminus.) Livery(ies): New Northern Trains Class 800 'Azuma' BMU (operate on Diesel mode for this route) Carriages: 5 or 9 Chance: Operates all LNER services (since HSTs were retired) Couples to: 5 car + 5 car gives 10 cars. 9 car doesn't couple. In-game route: Due to its natural timetable (with many services already terminating at Knaresborough) that gives a max 47 min drive, which appears to be a sensible amount given the recent DLCs. Services to York should have the player alight at Knaresborough and AI take over. The player would have a 21 min wait if on time for a train from York to take over and drive/ride to Leeds. The terminating Knaresborough services (off peak) have 19 mins before departure back to Leeds. In this time, the driver swaps ends, drives over a crossover onto the viaduct. After swapping ends again, the driver arrives into the Leeds bound platform. This is normally complete with around 10 mins before it departs. Freight: Well. As a resident I can confirm we get about 1 freight train (in the middle of the night) every few months. It wouldn't be realistic to have regular freight, nor have that midnight service. Conclusion: I may be biased, but I think this route is a perfect fit for Train Sim World (reasons above) and has different scenery along the way, from a big city to rural viaducts. It may not have freight, but there are other routes which satisfy this. Please discuss below your thoughts and any questions! EDIT: Now with a route map (sort of)!
This route is actually available as a freeware route in TSW2 sister game TS2021 and has been suggested for TSW2 before. I quite enjoy a trip round the loop in a class 143 or a class 158.
