    Overview

I would love to see the ICE 4 added to future Train Sim World DLCs as a modern German high-speed EMU for Deutsche Bahn long-distance operations.

The ICE 4 has become one of the most important trains in Germany’s modern ICE fleet and is currently missing from Train Sim World despite appearing on many major German routes in real life.

Why the ICE 4 Would Be Great for TSW

The ICE 4 would add a completely different style of gameplay compared to existing German high-speed trains in TSW.

Unlike the ICE 3, the ICE 4 focuses more on:
    • long-distance operational realism
    • modern passenger operations
    • energy-efficient driving
    • dense mixed-traffic corridors
    • realistic station work on busy German mainlines
The train is heavily used on routes with:
    • frequent speed changes
    • complex PZB/LZB operation
    • mixed ICE, IC, regional, and freight traffic
    • busy station approaches
    • long end-to-end services
This creates engaging gameplay where the driver constantly interacts with signaling systems, traffic, and timetable management rather than simply driving at maximum speed for long periods.

Need for More Variety in German High-Speed and Passenger Operations

Another reason why the ICE 4 would be such an important addition is the current lack of variety in modern German passenger rolling stock within Train Sim World.

Many German routes rely heavily on the same repeating trains and formations across multiple releases, such as:
    • Dostos
    • DB BR 425
    • DB BR 430
    • DB BR 146
    • DB BR 185
    • Ect.
While these trains are important for regional and freight operations, modern German long-distance traffic still feels underrepresented in comparison.

The addition of the ICE 4 would help diversify:
    • high-speed services
    • modern EMU gameplay
    • long-distance passenger operations
    • station atmosphere
    • AI traffic variety
    • timetable realism
It would also make German routes feel more alive and contemporary, especially on busy mainlines where the ICE 4 has become one of Deutsche Bahn’s most common long-distance trains in real life.

The ICE 4 could also open the door for more variation in future German content, including:
    • additional modern EMUs
    • locomotive-hauled InterCity services
    • newer passenger coaches
    • more realistic modern German timetables
Perfect Timing with Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg – Ingolstadt

The upcoming Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg – Ingolstadt route makes the ICE 4 even more relevant for Train Sim World.

With this route expected to become the first German high-speed route in Train Sim World capable of sustained 300 km/h operation, it creates the perfect opportunity to introduce a more modern ICE experience alongside it.

The ICE 4 would fit naturally into this environment because it represents the current generation of Deutsche Bahn long-distance high-speed operations.

    Its inclusion would help:
    • showcase modern German high-speed rail at its fullest potential
    • diversify high-speed traffic beyond existing ICE trains
    • make 300 km/h operations feel more contemporary
    • improve timetable realism on one of Germany’s flagship high-speed corridors
The release of Nürnberg – Ingolstadt could also serve as a strong foundation for future modern German high-speed content and make the ICE 4 an important long-term addition to the German Train Sim World ecosystem.

Why It Makes Sense for Development

One of the strongest advantages of the ICE 4 is that it could layer onto multiple existing and future German routes.

    Potential compatible routes include:
    • Kassel – Würzburg
    • Köln – Aachen
    • Frankfurt – Fulda
    • Hamburg – Lübeck
    • future Berlin or Ruhrgebiet routes
This would immediately make German timetables feel more modern and realistic.

The ICE 4 also uses systems already familiar within Train Sim World’s German ecosystem:
    • PZB
    • LZB
    • SIFA
    • ETCS potential for future implementation
This makes it a realistic addition without requiring entirely new gameplay foundations.

    Included Gameplay Features

    Key gameplay features could include:
    • realistic long-distance ICE services
    • modern passenger information systems
    • advanced onboard diagnostics
    • detailed cab functionality
    • realistic acceleration and braking behavior
    • operational timetable pressure on busy corridors
    • dense AI traffic interactions
    Why Players Want It

The ICE 4 is one of the most recognizable modern German trains currently absent from the game.

    It would:
    • modernize German route timetables
    • increase realism on existing routes
    • provide variety compared to older ICE units
    • expand high-speed gameplay
    • create stronger immersion for present-day German operations
Most importantly, the ICE 4 is not only visually different — it offers a distinct operational experience focused on modern intercity traffic management and long-distance passenger driving.

Thank you for considering this suggestion.
