Probably thinking/hoping the F4 HUD would have been enough, maybe they had long term plans to further improve and embellish the F4 HUD, we'll never know.
Spikee1975 So, true! In *:\STEAM\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Dialogs\HUD there are a number of files with the extension .dlg or .dlg.ed (steam.dlg, steam.dlg.ed...and so on). They seem impossible to open. In any case I don't have the tools to... Too bad! Richard.
It would be nice if the HUD was detachable and have the ability to be moved to a second or third monitor. This would be an improvement while playing on a laptop. There are programs that can be used to connect a tablet as a second monitor for both a desktop and laptop.
It would be nice if the train consist on the HUD could be expanded. Like if you have a 10k-foot, or maybe even a 15k-foot consist, you could still see it from end to end and still see the upcoming signals and speed limits. Otherwise, you just have to keep familiarizing yourself with the route to know where the upcoming speed limits are.
I have a couple ideas to add to the game. You could add trainspotters at stations and get action points and an achievement for giving them a tone or something like that (as a little easter egg). You could also add a Railadventure HST set with a hook and loop coupler at the front of the train (like on the silver/grey railadventure HSTs) and add HST barrier cars with different types of interchangeable coupling to allow for more versatility with scenarios. You could add his second idea as a add-on to mainlines as freight and railtour scenarios to most modern day mainlines (like ECML and WCML)
Alas, This is as good as it gets. No more updates to the core game unless done by independent hobbyists and individuals editing bin files to get their light flairs back or backdating to the last best version. What you see is what you get. New players joining TSC has dropped in favor of TSW. So natural attrition will thin the ranks even more over time until there is not enough players to make it commercially viable for developers. It has had a good run.I have more than enough content than I could ever use.
It would be nice to have HUD editing and keyboard key editing, but it's a simulator that is about to be abandoned, it's still a good simulator since you can't control multiple trains for many hours of gameplay, at least other things would be great.
Well you may not be able to edit the supplied HUD but here is an optional one. Here: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/mods/c1-train-sim-classic/c13-patches/i6161-dark-editor-hud
