Though if all the servers go down again, as seems to have happened for an extended period yesterday or the day before, no one will be playing it.

Now if there was a proper, structured single player game…

The preview will likely be showing a single player scenario from the route, like with the previous previews (EN57, ET22 / cargo pack, Ty2 steam loco) on his channel, unless they'll setup a special server or he'll get to use some beta test server just for the stream.

Say what you like about the MP/SP/Saving etc. but those signalling panels are a work of art. Puts SimSig to shame.

Not SimRail, but a sobering lesson about investing in games which require a server connection.

I went to fire up The Golf Club 2 earlier (wanted to see if any of Trump's courses were available to play) to be greeted by a message that connection lost. Further digging revealed the online servers for the game were closed down in early March, leaving no Career Mode and only the default courses that can be played offline. The thousands of additional and user created courses, gone for good.

The same could easily happen to SimRail, leaving just the handful of SP scenarios and no way to save in progress.

The golf club became pga2k25/23 etc I believe. Not yearly releases but every other I think.

I will check those out but it makes one a bit cagey about buying into anything else that’s dependent on server side to play. We all moan and witter about TSW, but if DTG folded tomorrow those of us who own it and DLC would still be able to play ad infinitum.

Surprised DTG never took a shot at doing a golf game. Used to be one of the most popular genres back in the 90’s but, along with those military flight sims with dynamic campaigns, seems to have fallen out of favour.

Server only and still no word from the dev's about single player experience with AI, timetable and freeroam?
Recent server outage laming the game?

I've put my support for this game on hold for now until single player and save game get implemented.

I believe Railroads Online also had a server outage, so that's a game to stay away from as well, as is Century of Steam. Both pretty games, but when your playing experience depends on continuous online connections to servers, one shouldn't buy such a game but rent it by the day/week/month? And even then, you're at the mercy of the studio and its pricing. Leasing/renting/play-by-hour on cloud based www seems all the trend in both business and gaming software. With all the financial safety, data security, personal privacy concerns that come with 'the wonderful life online and compulsory creditcard subscriptions'

As I noted above The Golf Club 2 is a sobering reminder not to invest heavily in this type of game. The same thing has happened to the phone/tablet games - use cash to buy "gems" then one day the developer announces they are closing down, Samurai Siege and Rival Kingdoms (the latter was actually quite good, too) declared end of life and the servers turned off.

So much as I'm tempted, don't think I will be investing in the new route DLC either until a much improved SP game and save comes to fruition.

I've fired SimRail back up this week for the first time in a while and have been enjoying it. No MP problems, polite chat with the dispatchers all the way :)

Having previously played a load with the EU07 (Class 83 Pierogi?) I've been playing with the EN57? EMU, that's another appealing old clunker. One thing I really like about this game is the scale of it and the ambition. No 20mile 'Networks' here. As long at the Warsaw-Lodz DLC isn't too crazy in price I'll be getting it.

So, any clues as to what date in April the new route DLC will release and what the price will be? We are halfway through the month now and Steam still just shows “TBA”.

I've seen on Polish SimRail Facebook group chat some 2 days ago a screenshot somebody posted, I don't know from where, maybe from Discord (which I don't have), that they have an announcement ready about the game update readying it for release of the DLC, final fixes in the DLC, and by the way about plans for 2026 related to XBOX and SNCF. I didn't see any game update yet, so probably that's why this announcement hasn't gone live to public yet. Maybe there are still some QA tests underway that delay the release of the update and release of the DLC.

I'm wondering what comes from the SNCF cooperation. Under the text in the screenshot there was an image with a TGV in inOui livery layered with SNCF and SimRail logos over it.

I think this simulator will be just a polish simulator. Without the editor
Which is slowly expanding its network in Poland.

Yes even a German routes but these routes which was announced 2-3 years ago.
We got to see the locomotive we also got to see the map for the first route first month then nothing.
But since then it has been quiet for at least 2 years.
My conclude that none of these happened and will happen.
I think the sales of Simrail were much lower than they initially thought and now they are only focusing on Poland where they have their big audience. It feels like there are 1-2 people developing it and making new routes.

Well, the game was called SimRail 2021 for some time to be finally released in 2023. And SimRail itself was announced when? I remember waiting some couple of years even for the "Prologue".

It's either new projects should be revealed only when they are in the final stages of development or beta testing, or the community needs to be more patient with how much longer the development will take from what the publisher/management wants. That's both for SimRail and TSW.

I personally prefer knowing what's being worked on as soon as they are able to reveal it, than only some couple of months before the release, like for example what SCS does with showing new DLCs for ETS2 & ATS. For example, I've been following development of Skywind since 2013 and I'm still not tired of waiting for its release, similarly I had waited for release of Black Mesa for some years, only looking at pictures from the development, before it was put in Steam Greenlight and then finally released in Early Access.

12 dec 2022 German and US routes in production. Now it is 2,5 year after that.
Normal time is maybe 6-12 months. There is no company that can put in so much energy for so long and not get anything in return. Because in the USA another small company would do that route

    Nov 2024
EN: At what stage of work are the foreign routes?
EN: After the release of the full version of the game, we will publish information on the additions that are being made, but work is still ongoing.

The game has been fully released for a long time and still completely silent.
Draw your own conclusions but this is my conclusion
    .

I've been there twice when it's been similar but then it's when they're developing a new train simulator.
MST2 from Microsoft, they did quite a lot for a year then they decided to shut everything down. Crosstie Studios there they wrote a lot and showed pictures but then it got quieter and quieter. They never wrote that they shut it down. But suddenly the whole page was gone.

Must admit I am still very reluctant to pump further money into the project at this stage.
With no news, not even some screenshots, the chances of seeing the mooted third party content is looking more and more remote. Still no firm date or price for the Lodz DLC on Steam and there’s only 12 days left in April, less if you discount the Easter weekend when not much is going to move forward.

I am curious on what Searchlight Simulations current status is, I know they still dabble on TSC stuff as well, but its been awhile since they've posted anything meaningful on their Facebook page.

When routes are several hundred kilometers long or greater than 100 miles, it's going to take a while. Plus they need to learn a new engine and build a lot of stuff. None of that takes 5 minutes

Their progress and releases are very slow in TSC. Perhaps because too little return on investments, if at all?
Isn't most of their stuff based on JointedRail from Trainz? Most of Tz is one slightly above MSTS in detail and function, but in TSC the Searchlight DLC is excellent. TSW should mean another step up in model fidelity, shouldn't it?

A single USA route in SimRail for starters should have more than a single locomotive, three different freight cars and 50 miles of single track route, shouldn't it? And this means a huge investment in time and money with an unknown chance of success and financial return.
Then there is licensing, perhaps they run into problems here?

I agree. Dont know if I want to buy more stuff from them, if they don't talk about what's happening and what's happening in the future.
They clearly had big ambitions but I think they've taken away a lot of what they said initially

A sneak peek, regarding the singleplayer in the upcoming update.

Here is an example from the Cargo-container mission. Multiplying everything - the scenario can be fired on 4320 different variants. Some of it is more realistic, some - less. But in sum, it should satisfy most of the ideas for driving the route under different conditions!
All eight of the scenarios that will appear in the Lodz DLC will have similar options - excluding loads for passengers and a cold start for trains taken over the run.
    (translating screenshots:
    -Choose vehicle
    -Choose cargo
    -Choose weather (sunny-summer, foggy-autumn, snowy-winter, rainy-spring, thunderstormy-early summer)
-Optionally select different scenario start time (default without time change)
    - Choose loco starting state (ready for ride, cold with 10min added)

A small step in the right direction, but they need to add to that the means to specify the starting location so that next time you come on you can kick off the scenario where you left off. That is, in the absence of a save game.

And surprisingly little discussion or information on their official forum. I actually started to reinstall SimRail last night just in case this comes out at a pocket friendly price. Oh well guess we will see later on this evening whether it’s a go/no go for release.

Noted, though no price declared. Wouldn't be surprised if they push this more expensive than people might think. Hoping for < £20 and the will list it for £35!

Edit: Just advised on the SimRail forum they are not prepared to divulge the price until the time of release. Make of that what you will.

Quick question, not related to development policy or the upcoming DLC...

With the server consolidation into "International" which is the one most English speaking players frequent?

    Thanks for posting that Denis.

Must admit I've been enjoying revisiting SimRail the last couple of evenings. Just left a rather nice run with an ET22 hauling a local train formed of two very old UIC coaches on the Tunel route. Got some admiring comments from the manned signalboxes en route, too, so the multiplayer was a bit more lively today.

Downloaded. Mostly some new functions for posts are being tested. I can not drive Lodz branch.

I would recommend to wait till 30 April

47 gigs is the upcoming build for simrail on the 30th

Getting deeper into the game, I now understand the sentiment and desire for some kind of Save Game. It's genuinely awesome that I don't run into hitting the awkward short end that some TSW routes have... but good lord sometimes the drive could go on for hours.

Yes, it would be so awesome to be able to run the routes in full over several sessions rather than just random portions A not even making it to B. I had a quick half hour again on the EN57 before bedtime but it is so frustrating not to see the end of the run.
