You might like the new DLC then, looking at what we have seen so far of the timetable there will be a variety of services that are both long and short (Warsaw - Lodz is 1h40/1h50 in an IC train). Obviously the shorter ones don't always traverse the whole section, which means plenty of variation. Also the basegame map get's a new train as well, the MPE741xx/471xx that runs from Katowice to Myszkow (same as the S1/41 but fast), trip takes about 50min/1h, this one then also spawns in Lodz as a 25/30min services from Lodz to Rokiciny (just South of Koluszki) Usually a map with all train services will be available at launch and a spawnlist where you can see total lenghth of trips. https://wiki.simrail.eu/ Route map as attachment
Great stuff! Getting quite pumped for this, so long as they don’t want £50 for it of course. I wonder if the steam loco will get any services, or remain a novelty item in single player?
Last thing I read from the guy who does timetables is that for now the steam loco is still SP only, plans are still there just as night trains. But the focus was currently on the DLC so we'll see what happens next. The steam loco is quite slow so I can imagine it being quite the task fitting it in a very busy timetable.
I also still have problems getting the brakes to stay off once applied then released. Doing the freight run again yesterday evening I braked in advance of a red signal. Moved back through running, quickly into fill to release then on putting the handle back into running the whole train ground to a halt. The only way I could get and keep moving was to leave the train brake in fill which is surely not how it should work. This was an issue present when the steam loco first came out and was mentioned on the official forum then, but doesn’t seem to have been addressed. Unless of course it’s user error on my part.
Depending on your consist the releasing of train brakes can take a while as per real life (not uncommon for it to take a minute or two). Also depending on the loco as the ET22 and EU07 are using the old brake handle, it could be that it's not fully in the running position. It should be noticable once it is actually in it's running notch. The Traxx and Dragon are more easy to operate in that sense. Like I was doing a SP scenario yesterday (intermodal freight to Pruszkow, really nice scenario and not too long. And good practice for ETCS as well) with the dragon and boy it took while to get going (it blocks traction as long as the brakes are not nearly released). One of the things Simrail certainly does better then TSW.
From the Steam description… “Each station along the route has its own distinct railway character. Your journey begins at Łódź Widzew, thoroughly modernized in recent years, now a vital interchange point for the city of Łódź and a technical base for the local carrier. Koluszki, primarily an interchange station, has been in operation for over 170 years! Traveling toward Warsaw, you’ll pass the home of Polish Nobel Prize winner Władysław Reymont, who once worked as a track operator on the Warsaw–Vienna Railway. In Skierniewice—another key junction—you’ll see the historic 1845 roundhouse, while Żyrardów station will greet you with a distinctive water tower visible from afar. Faithfully recreated stations and stops convey the atmosphere of one of the most important railway lines in Poland.” DTG and Rivet please take note with particular reference to Cardiff Central station frontage, don’t have time to do it - pah! Anyhow, 10 hours to go.
Wiki has been updated with new dispatch stations, the new EN57 and the route and radio map. New spawnlist is also available. Some things still need some finetuning or need to be added but all the important stuff is there. https://wiki.simrail.eu/
Excellent. Just have a feeling this is not going to drop until 1800 UK time so depending on the file size, playtime this evening might be limited. Oh well, got a task to finish up in Snowrunner while I wait!
If you download right now a beta update you will have less to download later. I don't know how much DLC will need a space but the update is about 50gb. So later you will have download update and DLC at the same time so maybe more than 60gb.
Thanks for the tip! With my potato PC and Steam limiting D/L speed to around 9Mb/s probably looking at around two hours to grab it all.
Lodz DLC has been released at the price of a whopping €12,79 with currently a 10% discount untill the 7th of May!
I know! Don't even have to sneak a Steam Gift card past the wife to pay for that. As I just posted in the main section puts DTG's commercial paradigm to shame. Plus we get a substantial core update too. Only downer is that Steam is predicting two hours to download everything so off to play some Snowrunner in the meantime. Three cheers for SimKol!

Just so people know: Currently server have been split up into different map parts due to performance reasons (There are 1500 trains a day on the full map). Some servers are now Warsaw - Lodz/Psary, or Warsaw - Lodz/Krakow or the base game map Warsaw - Katowice/Krakow. Devs keep working to improve performance on server so one day we might get a full map with Lodz (Altho this can't go on infinitely)
Yeah I dispatched at Skierniewice today and will do some driving tomorrow, but damn it was a very busy experience. There was always trains moving from every direction and the players who were driving were certainly never alone. Which also meant diverging signals were common and some puzzling had to be done to keep things moving (knowing that most train numbers are new so dispatching on memory was a no go).
Well about fantastic: A polish player was doing some things with files and found a way to enable savegames. A dev confirmed this and even showed how to enable it. 'Testing_SavesEnabled=False' to 'Testing_SavesEnabled=True' in AppData\LocalLow\SimKol\SimRail\settings.conf Now this is very much in an alpha state (the menu will also show this) and loading takes time. But it works, altho bugs are very much possible.
Great stuff, will try it out. Edit, yes it works though you have to go back in the original scenario and wait to board the train. Also appears you might have to reset the main switch once the game loads. But this is utterly fantastic. Just what we needed. Can do a complete run in sections.
DE1 and INT1 are now Warszawa<->Lodz/Katowice The whole map will be returned after some servers code tweaks
Update 02.05.2025 SINGLEPLAYER Fixed issues in missions that previously prevented them from being completed. Fixed a bug that caused a lack of power from the overhead line in vehicles during single-player mode.
Sadly this had to be reversed due to servers struggling with the load, they also tried a full map in INT9 but that collapsed. Not what the dev team wants, but for now it will have to be done in the split way. We'll see what the future brings in terms of multiplayer servers. Singleplayer obviously offers the full map.
Well in the meantime the Save for the SP game is going great. Just did another hour with the Lodz to Warsaw IC, which is now the third time I loaded the save game. Would just mention on the EU07, in addition to hitting the main switch to regain traction power, I also had to click the two overload relays to the right of it. But I'm still in virtual train driving heaven here, at long last being able to do these scenarios.
Glad you are enjoying it! You had to wait a long time for it! As you say it still has some issues but in general it seems to work quite well indeed. And not sure if you noticed yet, but if you would do the same scenario again the AI trains might be different as they spawn with random (predefined) consists. That together with being able to select the train you want to use + the time you want to drive in gives so much replayability options.
Interesting... when I went to load my save from earlier it must have failed to take. On trying to save now getting an error message - Unable to save due to routes being processed. Not to worry, obviously still very early days.
Can confirm the unofficial save is in very early days. When I resumed the save which was there and tried to save again, I continued to get the “Building route files” error. Also it doesn’t seem to work at all on older OG scenarios (maybe someone else can try that). In fact the OG scenarios don’t even allow you to change the traction, weather or time when first loaded. Probably a bit tinfoil hat of me but I’m wondering if they realised “outing” this feature was a bit premature and slipped through a silent update to shut it down. A shame if they have as I was really looking forward to getting some of those scenarios done, particularly the long steam run.
