I looked forward to TSW when it was first announced and was disappointed when it arrived. I found the having to leave the cab to couple up irritating and unrealistic. I have tried TSW2 but that was just as bad and I mean as bad. The ability to create in TSC far outscores TSW in every way warts and all.
As other have writen here before. I also prefer the TSC visuals over the TSW ones.I dont really see that much TSW has over TSC. It suits all the different moods i have in the course of a year. Routebuilding, creating scenarios, driving steam, modern british and sometimes american freight. I have been looking at the player count for TSC and TSW over the last couple of weeks and i like to believe there are quite a few that prefer TSC over TSW. TSC had a 4% to 8% higher player count evertime i checked. I know there are consoles and that not everybody plays online, but its still impessive that this 15 year old software does so well compared to the newer stuff.
No, I much prefer how TS looks as well. The colours accuracy is a lot better, with the lighting being more natural pretty much all the time. There are some quirks with the lighting system, but it's never the assault on the eyes that TSW is during the day. The anti-aliasing is also enormously better than TSW.
In my opinion (and for what that’s worth!) the mistake DTG made was to make TSW cut off from the community. I’ve dabbled in route building in TSC and been frustrated with the jaggy cuttings and annoying gradients foibles etc, but at least I can do it. I really hoped that TSW would build on the amazing community and continue to thrive, but alas not. I guess the move to consoles mostly did for that, but hey ho. I do wish they’d spend a little engineering time on TSC to keep it current, but guess that’s not where the money is!
I feel the same way in regards to TSW and have brought up numerous times in the forums that they should make the route editor easier to use for the community so people can make their own routes or customize existing ones. I feel that DTG does not want to make it easier to use in fear of losing profits and wants total control of which routes are available. The community is what has kept TSC alive after all of these years and would do the same for TSW. Time will tell with TSW, but TSC is surely not dead.
yeah i prefer tcs too, at least for the reason it has that old school vibe charm to it in terms of graphics you know what im saying? also greater route variety and the fact i dont have to be a programmer or some shi- to use the editor
