I said I would start being skeptic towards UK players hyping products. No Vern, you are not going to fool me. Blame DTG for ruining your reputation
Indeed, it's what they want though. Who would really want to drive a triple headed 37 hauled train out of Mossend in the Autumn when you could do another run in a 377/7 or 2 or 5 or whatever for the 48th time to get that elusive mastery award. Or drive a 47/7 to within an inch of its life on a 1980s Glasgow Edinburgh train when instead a 385 that you can't see out of would suffice with sounds from Rivets recycle bin.
Is it a massive flop? Steam users don't think so. There are always going to be issues with complex software. To be constructive and helpful instead of generalising list the specific issues you have and how to reproduce them then they can be reviewed and if they're not by design then they can be fixed in a patch. Paul
Great Idea, like your style....you must be new here greetings. Errrr and I like so many others have being letting DTG know about bugs and things going wrong since TSW2 and you know what...they still there, not addressed, but a New version of TSW or New DLC will keep turning up.
Yeah, to be fair they tend to do the same towards their football teams as well, a load of hype and no skill
Hi warpshell no not new here lol but I am a realist because I make a living in software development. I'm also a beta tester for this game so I do know how many bugs are fixed and its thousands. Not all of them this is true, nor will it ever be. It isn't economically possible. Choices are made on which bugs to fix and those choices will always be unpopular with someone because they didn't get the thing they wanted. That person will of course be sad. Not everything I've wanted fixed over the years has been and sometimes I am sad too. Paul
If you are a console beta tester we gonna have a big problem Paul Digital screens not working for god sake!
Oh ok, you beta test wcml then? Going from what you said then DTG know there product is faulty and they are choosing not to fix the problems because fixing problems with their own product they sell wouldn't pay them? But we have already paid them when we bought the product and keep buying the product, this is the 5th version in the TSW series. I spend more time raising tickets than playing the game and from what you are saying I am wasting my time raising such tickets because DTG won't fix them? Then, what's point in raising tickets in the first place then?
The save issue bug verges on the ridiculous for a single player game/sim. Other bugs depend on the players preference or set up. I guess enough people play without worring about saving.
You should always raise tickets, but it does not mean everything can be fixed or will be fixed. Economics is involved here. Name me any product that has zero defects. The things that get fixed are the things that impact the most players. The further you get from the initial release the less likely it is to be fixed because the teams are working on the next deliverables. Its not DTG in particular, it is every software development. Paul
No I beta on PC. Which screens on which train - I do have a console I can try it on Xbox or PS4 if I have the DLC on those machines. Is there a particular service you have an issue with or all of them? A particular train? Can you show me with a short video? Paul
Well I did suggest putting a list of known bugs on here and get DTG to update when they are going to be fixed, it would be a long list and from what you are say DTG have zero interest in fixing bugs because there is no money to be made, but DTG have already got our money in regards to that, so they can cry the poor mouth, they already been paid. In terms of other products, yes everything has issues even an airline you go on holidays in. Just imagine if DTG made an airline..."bing bong...this is your captain speaking, we are crusing at 29,000 feet, if you look out of the left window you will see the engine glitch in and out, this is a known issues and the co pilot screens won't zoom. When we come into land, we will have to land fast because there are no flaps, they are coming in a future patch as are the brakes, passengers seating on the right have no seat belts, but DTG are aware, pasenger sitting in the last 3 rows have fallen throught the plane, but there is a patch coming for that some time in the future. Sadly there is no access to the toilets, there is no update on this, you will have to remain in a holding pattern, have a nice flight" You wouldn't set a foot on DTG airlines would you?
Where does it say that DTG have zero interest in fixing bugs? I never read that at all into anything he wrote!
So you mean to say that you believe rice growing is the main economic driver in places in Indo-china!!
Every screen, on every train, click on a screen and instantly see what the problem is, for added fun exit that screen by pressing the right stick to switch the camera view, then see if you can complete the service. You'll soon see why people are frustrated at the lack of testing on console, for many players they found this bug within minutes of starting the game.
you should see the xbox reviews they paint a different picture but yet i have seen steams and play stations reviews and they are positive a very mixed bag depending on what system you are using ?
Xbox is suffering from terrible audio popping on most routes constantly, it’s a real immersive killer. I’m really OCD about that kind of thing, so you can imagine I was testing my surround sound, turning it off and on a bunch of times, checking wiring etc. Then I read the comments on the forum… my equipment isn’t faulty, phew!
funny you should say that its not just TSW 5 that i am getting audio pop in i too thought my sound system was faulty
That must have driven you nuts, pulling out wires, checking systems, nearly having a nervous breakdown, to finally find out it is not your system at all. I am really starting to think DTG is ran by two CEOs, one is call "Bodge it" and the other one is called "Leg it"
Haha yeah because I’ve always experienced some popping before, but never it lasting 20-30 sec intervals in a row. My surround sound which is getting on in its years now, from time to time I have to adjust my digital optical cable otherwise it’s snap, crackle and pop until I do. Whoever it’s ran by they haven’t got a clue in customer satisfaction. You might as well dress up two Labradors in tailored suits at this point and stick them on the board, they’d do a better job
Long time ago, I recall DTG saying that they triage bug reports, possibly into A,B,C etc. They try to fix A issues which are potentially game breaking, but as you go to B and down the list, there's a decreasing likelihood that bugs will ever be fixed. Problem for us players is that we don't always agree on what is A,B and C.
Just last night I had a 37 pull in at work hauling an inspection train. Looked at the Sprinter next to it, came to the conclusion the 37 is more fun to drive (although at least Sprinters have a separate brake and throttle).
No, for me TSW 5 is no flop. I see it this way: I buy a bundle of 3 new routes, some new trains and some improvements of the old version. That’s fine for me. I have the opinion that it is better to buy a new version from time to time, so that DTG get’s some more money, rather than they discontinue the game because of lack of funds some day!
Bit like deciding to watch Status Quo, (Sprinter) and having Metallica (37) turn up next door.....other comparisons are available.
It’s basically the same bugs and issues that plagued TSW4 and basically every TSW before it. A new icon and a route pack basically. Sounds like the consensus is WCML is a mess. I haven’t even bothered with it tbh. We did get a decent route out of this whole thing with San Bernardino.
l am very pleased that after over 100 hours of downloading all my content, that it will finish just before midnight tonight 20/9 apart from the 101 expert loco, which is the only content l don’t own yet. Really won’t be bothering with TSW6 until the internet where l live has better speeds. Unfortunately l am away tomorrow so won’t be able to play for awhile. Don’t they call it Sods Law!!!
It's like nobody at DTG has a console and can see these issues. I thought Matt had an Xbox? Anyway I'm playing SEHS which, as always, works perfectly and regretting spending ~£50 on a clearly broken unfinished game.
Fright. After four and a half days installing all my content l was looking forward this morning to playing TSW5 at long last. When I switched on my Xbox TSW5 had disappeared in the menu. I had to reinstall the free version a second time to get all my content, l had previously installed. What also disappointed me is, that it took over 15 minutes to load. TSW4 only took a couple of minutes so no problem if you had a spare 30 minutes to play something, but TSW5 spoils that if it takes a long time to load. Should have stayed with TSW4
I got the free TSW5 starter pack, and after a couple of errors with PS store downloads I was able to download the TSW5 content. I added all TSW4 content to TSW5. So far there seems to be a slight improvement in graphics on BPO, the main thing I'm able to get into Preston station from Blackpool. I couldn't do this with TSW4, as it crashed on the station approaches. I've also run to Doncaster with Scotsman, which I couldn't do before. So far it's been a positive update to TSW. I'm on PS4 PRO , there has been some slow-mo areas on some routes ware the frame rate drops alot, but not for too long, and it usually doesn't blue screen.
Unfortunately I have Xbox One S with 1TB of storage. I bought the Xbox solely to play TSW on, although it came packaged with Forza Horizon, l never play it, just TSW games. I am reluctant to buy a new Xbox for just TSW, but 4 plays much better than 5.
I ve had mixed feelings about TSW 5 ..i have the free starter for x box series x and have downloaded 48 dlc routes so far . Yesterday i went to visit someone and they have a really good gaming PC set up..They showed me TSW 5 on their system i must say what i saw graphics wise really impressed me the smoothness and they had bought the deluxe edition had sand patch i played some of that and san Bernardino even sand patch looked super on it
l agree the graphics do look better and smoother on a PC. Playing WCML l noticed the rails tracks disappeared. I went to settings and changed the graphics settings up one to ultra and they reappeared!!
So TSW5 is turning more and more into another balloon inflated with fried air, with some low hanging fruit level new additions while the carried over core deficiencies won't be addressed because there is no financial incentive to repair, update and improve already abandoned routes and trains.
Yes the most underwhelming new TSW ever. Could have been so different if they'd put in the effort on WCMLS, a missed opportunity.
Well, I’ll put my two penn’orth in for what it’s worth, I am a LNR Conductor on the WCML and for me, the route, though not perfect, is a good representation of the line. Compared with the graphics on the WMT simulator in Birmingham, it is far superior, and no doubt that cost a fortune! I enjoy “Guard mode” too - yes, a busman’s holiday for me some may say, but overall, even with the bugs I enjoy having an “escape” for half an hour or so playing with the game.
