What is the baking you refer to? For RW Enhancer? I don't have the SWEP at the moment and I was wondering
Is anyone having this strange sort of eyeball effect in the middle of some cloud patterns? So far I've only experienced the issue on a few cloudy presets in Quick Drive and Career. Granted you won't really be looking directly looking at the top of the sky while playing but it's certainly weird.
Explained in the manual, it's unavoidable as it's a sky dome limitation, seriously when the hell are you or anyone else going to need to be looking directly up?
Alright, good to hear it isn’t a bug then! Yes I seriously doubt anyone would be looking directly up so it’s fine, I was just curious if it was a bug with my install or not…
Talking of which, I find RWEnhancer pro works well with SWEP2.0 for one feature.... Fog Desaturation. Want rid of that blue hills in the distance thing? Fog desaturation. It's pretty much the only feature I use it for since SWEP2.0. Fog brightness setting is useful for tuning this as well.
I'll throw my hat in the ring - love the new cloud pack. Dover Route AP 700 AP 465 AP SWEP 2.0 AP Cloud Pack AP Track Pack
Just catching up on this thread - I have the first AP Weather pack, and although some of the screenshots with the new packs looks nice, i'm struggling to justify the £44.98 price tag for both packs! What's next... a Sun and Moon Enhancement pack, or prehaps Bird or Plane Enchancement Pack??? I'm guessing the Weather and Cloud packs are going to be needed for future DLC and scenarios, but it has put me off investing in any further TSC content from anyone that will list these packs in there DLC and scenario requirements. Are any developers left who are actually are making any new TSC DLC or Scenarios since the last core update, which will fully utilise these weather and cloud packs?
No, your guess is wrong. The weather and clouds are never going to be needed for future scenarios. As has been stated before (and in the freely available manual) they are completely optional and will default to standard weather. Personally while a little more expensive than I expected I’m really enjoying it. The Sky takes up a major part of the screen and to me it really does look good.
That's completely understandable and fair enough, I can't afford a newer car at this moment in time so I'm quite happy pootling about in my older but completely serviceable current car.. Whilst I plainly see the completely unnecessary derisiveness in this comment I'll respond to it anyway, would a Sun and Moon Enhancement be so bad? Or even a Birds or Planes one? I mean at the end of the day isn't that what we expect from Richard Armstrong.... Enhancements? If it's all about the physics and not about the visual aspect for you then... Oh hang on, Richard often improves them too.... Ok I'll try again, if it's all about the additional gameplay functions stretching TSC beyond its base scripting ... Oh hang on, damn it! Richard does that too... I was wondering when the "guesswork" would come into it. Makes me wonder why AP bother making free to download manuals if the default is just to rely on guesswork and surmising. Not only do the multitude of talented scenario creators creating a vast plethora of great and immersive scenarios utilise the new packs, they also know and usually state that the new packs whilst recommended are not critical to run the scenarios. This last part is more a generalised reply to everyone and anyone rather than a direct response to the quoted post so please don't take this as targeted at you westcastlerail. This is just my overall feelings on the subject.. I've read possibly here on the DTG forum but definitely on Facebook comments like "who cares about clouds" (I do btw, I stare at them all the time and have done for my whole life) and "I play TS to drive trains not stare at the sky" (Apparently I can multitask). Ok fine, if you have no interest in the visual aspect of the game, Great! You've saved yourself some money and not altered or affected your enjoyment of the game, that's a win, you should be happy, but to be derisive and critical about someone's hard work and attempts to improve the 10+ yr old game and complain that the cost is too high because you yourself can't afford it is nothing less than puerile. I however can afford such frivolities because I work bloody hard and long hours, and this is my reward to myself, I have no interest in sports of any description, I don't play golf, fish or go rambling (all those things cost money in some form depending on your seriousness and commitment to the chosen activity) I don't chuck twenty pints down my neck two to three nights a week and I no longer smoke cigarettes (10 yrs this month fyi btw), I also don't gamble (other than Wifey doing the lottery). This game is my pleasure, my joy, my escapism, and I have no qualms about chucking all of my disposable income at it especially when it comes to anything that enhances that experience even further. I hope AP enhances every single aspect of the game, he's got my money that's a guarantee!
A pack that would insert birds and planes at random would be most welcome for me! Seriously! In Köblitzer Bergland has fantastic birds. So i inserted them on the Koblenz Trier and Nürnberg Regensburg routes. Took half an hour per route to spread them across the routes. You wont believe this but the difference in immersion was huge!!! Everything that moves adds to the immersion.
I would love to see a 'real-world' weather add-on similar to the one included with MS Flight Simulator.
Well 390001 is right. Heck on the tsw forums I couldn't even make a small joke without receiving about 30 replies of hate.
the rightness or wrongness of his post wasn't in question, the need to be antagonistic wasn't needed and that's what I called him out on, he knows me, he knows I'll call him out if he deserves it, he did, we moved on, maybe you should too?
It is the posts on this forum for calling people out that really spoils the enjoyment for me. Why is it so difficult for contributors to try to be polite, factual and engage in reasoned and informative debate? In your response at 855pm to my post yesterday, you have made it so personal. You have made false assumptions about me just to suit your narrative in your response. Then you also go off at a wild tangent accusing me of all sorts of false stuff that bears little constructive information and try to cover it off by saying it doesn’t apply to me! Sorry, but you are replying in a post to me so it is obviously aimed at me! (otherwise why put it!) In my original post on this subject, I was looking for other TSC users suggestions, to show examples of newly released DLC and scenarios that shows the weather packs so it could inform me more to justify the investing or not.
Honestly, immersion. I'm not going to defend the price but I will sit here until the cows come home and wax lyrical on what a difference when used properly by scenario authors it makes (Even driving from the cab) It's all about extra options so you don't always see the same skies all the time and the best thing is, it isn't mandatory. No cloud pack, no problem, it'll default to an updated SWEP V2 pattern as set up by AP
Fair enough. My question was genuine. It wasn't meant as a dig at people who've bought the pack as I'm considering getting it myself. Thanks for the honest answer.
I agree with what Rob said above. It just really adds to the experience. The Sky is a big part of the display. I recall that in TSW, one of the big complaints at the start was how the Sky looks and a Mod was released that was eventually incorporated in the game. It made a big difference. Here we have that to a much higher level, the sky can be different with each run and it looks so real and natural (as it's actual photographs). I'm also not defending the price, but it is what it is - If you don't have SWEP 2 yet, then it's a lot of money. It's up to the individual whether they consider it worth it, but for me who is spending a lot of my spare time in the game, I'm not unhappy.
Considering the age of TSC, and the engine it is running on, some of the screenshots in here look very, very good. Price is irrelevant IMO. It's a hobby. If you want TSC to look as good as it can, this stuff is going to help. If you are only bothered about gameplay, the packs are probably not for you.
You haven't by chance deleted two batch files in Assets called Pre install and install me have you? Might be coincidence but since not touching those my AP Weather has stayed...
I have, but if I install any of my other 90 odd AP packs (not even including branding or extra stock packs) so many of them have a bat called Install me so it'd get overwritten anyway.. Curious, do you double click and run the batch files, I always do and then delete them but I've never gotten a clear answer on whether it's necessary or not and there is never any mention regarding them with AP's install instructions?
Usually yes, but I found after leaving these two intact, that I stopped losing my AP Weather in the dynamic selection box. It feels like coincidence though so I'd wait for an answer to your support ticket If it turns out that it does stop SWEP V2 working, it really should be in the manual!
InstallMe.bat is usually used during the install process and not after install, I thought? The file is changed with every pack that gets installed, so I can't see that being left there. Here is an example from the Class 67 EP: Basically, the EXE installer copies all the files in (see how I call this a "dummy" install), then runs the BAT file to copy the GEOs. The bat file then should be removed if the installer cleans up correctly.
Keep looking at the Unofficial Screenshot Competition and the general screenshot threads, there are a few shares about how it looks. I wasn't sure when I read your post yesterday, but I see two options for you, considering the price. a) Religiously stay away from the pack, because. As others noted, the game will fall back to some default weather. b) Religiously be on the hunt for content using the pack, to make the most value for your money. It also shouldn't be hard to use the new clouds and weathers in a static fashion in virtually any scenario. The pack looks nice so if you already move in circles where it is used, you will make some use of it, that's where option B plays.
Does anyone know where I can find the folder for time of day so I can add the AP weather 2.0 to the ATS routes
ATS routes are supported out of the box, if you've only just purchased the ATS routes then re-install the SWEP2.0 and it should then work. To answer your question directly though the TimeofDay folder is in the AP\WeatherEP folder
Yea I had to delete the ATS route and just reinstalled it. But I’ll just reinstall the weather hopefully and won’t have to reinstall the clouds to
I was wondering, how does the pack apply the new updated weather and clouds to the existing scenarios that have already been created? Do you have to go into the scenario editor and manually change them, or can it be done in the TSC game, using in the Drive Menu before loading the scenario? .... And no I've not read the manual for a product I don't own --- yet --- but am getting increasly tempted!
So in order to answer my own question, I have been through the original AP Weatherpack 1 manual and learnt how to apply the weather patterns and triggers. I have been through 6 different AP created scenarios across 3 different DLC (2 each of the scenarios that come with the class 86/87/800 packs) and all of them so far are using the default TSC weather (ie the AP Weatherpack has not been applied to the scenario). I purchased the original AP Weather pack in Aug 21, and have been merrily playing TSC on the assumption that the AP weather has been applied to the routes listed. Based on my investigations so far it has not. So my understanding now.... is that the AP weather is supported in the routes listed, but you have to go into every scenario and apply the AP weather to each individual scenario that I own in order to see the benefit . (Enhancement!) Is this the same for the new AP Weather and Cloud pack, that you have to manually apply the AP weather to every scenario? (as it is not automatically applied to the route)
Hmmmm interesting findings. From what i am understanding and after reading your post is if a scenario was made BEFORE the weather pack was released or was created and did not have the weather applied to it then yes you will need to go into scenario editor and change the weather to what it is you want it to be. From making scenarios i have published i have had to go into the menu in the scenario editor select the AP WEATHER from the drop down then apply whatever markers i want etc to make the weather change or just select the weather pattern from the drop down to have that pattern in the scenario.
Oh LOVE sorry mate I just realised I never got back to you with your reply. I’ll see if I can get them compiled for you shortly!
Again, sorry for the late reply but here are my RW Enhancer 2 settings. I was also using ReShade as well in those screenshots so just using these RW Enhancer 2 settings on your game may not look exactly the same.
