Well, I'm sure we're all waiting expectantly for this route, but:

First of all, don't you think you should wait until the route is released, or at the very least view a live stream before making comparisons about " quality "?

Secondly, all the other 3rd parties you blithely denigrate have made good dlc's in the past and I'm sure they will continue to do so, despite your " advice ".

Saw some comments moaning about the Pacers being in TSW a while back. Why wouldn’t you want them in ???. Will be so cool if they actually bounce and make a lot of noise. I haven’t ridden one. Too past my time but going from video footage they look pretty fun.

All looks great! I feel like we need an NTP timetable refresh to bring it in line and add the extra stock.

Both NTP and TVL as they sit either side of OPB with the years 1984, 1989 and 1986 respectively.

To be honest I could perfectly see JT do gameplay packs with new timetables for NTP and TVL. They have lots of knowledge of the era now and are bringing tons of era-appropriate stock up to TSW4 standard as part of the Blackpool-Preston-Omskirk route.

    That would be good.

Espeically given BOP is coming with a Pacer it would certainly help TVL be a little bit more intresting.

I know I joked about it with someone in a different thread a few weeks ago now but are we using OPB or BOP? I like BOP personally.

Pacers in a sim or on a heritage railway could be fun. Having to use one for your daily commute (as many in the North did until a few years ago) ... not so much.

Re Blackpool trams - a suggestion for the Tramsim team?

Technically should be OPB or BPO... :)

Originally I was going to wait a little bit to buy it.

Now, Im not too sure if I will be able to wait that long. Hopefully theres one of those couple quid off preorder sales they do sometimes - Because Id hapilly preorder this route.

They are very atmospheric. I love the one of Poulton Le Fylde. I love the Bedford Beagle British Rail van.

I think this is one that will be well worth the full £29.99 asking price (though not saying I won't take a 10% preorder incentive if offered).

I'm a great fan of the explorable interiors. Most of the shots so far have been in the summer daytime but I can easily imagine how atmospheric it will be to take cover in a shelter during a storm or traffic watch while the sun goes down on a quiet evening from the inside of an office or signal box (confirmed to be explorable in several locations although we haven't seen screenshots yet).

Just Trains have, more than anyone else creating content for TSW, seemingly fully understood the unique advantages of TSW over TSC (the timetable, on-foot exploration) and are exploiting them to the absolute maximum. More power to them!

Yes these screenshots are almost worth the 30 quid so the route will be well worth the asking price.

That could be argued but BOP has a better ring to it. I am sure something will be adopted! :)

This route at a glance with the work put in does seem like it'll be worth the full price. The care and attention are good to see!

Seems like it will relegate the ECML into the corner despite the lure of a new steam locomotive for me at least :D

I never doubted JT, their previous work on TSC has been sublime in the most part and their route builders are second to none. If only DTG could bring the stand of their routes up to what we see in these screenshots…

Maybe I’m getting carried away a little, but regardless this is a day 1 purchase. Congratulations to all involved.

Skyhook doesn't really have a staff member Luke jd who focuses on engaging with the community. Jane was cto but had personal issues to deal with. Adam is a producer i believe. Both of them aren't community roles. Other developers probably are too busy to be up to date on forums

With this and hopefully more BR Blue routes in the future, hopefully we'll start to see some newly made BR Blue MK1's with a RBR, MK2e/f, buffered MK3's. It does get a bit repetitive with just the current MK2's we have.

Yeah but the release of the MML was a big mess so that's more the point! If you look to JT it looks more polished i think!

The difficulty with a new timetable for NTP is the signalling system can’t handle it being busy. If you add more trains you’ll just end up with incorrect signalling sequences all over the place. I suspect JT will focus their efforts on developing their own routes, rather than trying to enhance DTG’s, but we’ll see.

Amen to that. Given the standard it looks like they have achieved with BOP, I would much rather see an all new route as their next project.

The only gameplay pack, as such, I'd want to see for TVL and NTP is just the 142 overlaying the 101.

I am curious to how the development team have managed to get sounds for the 142. The engine sounds could be recorded from a preserved Leyland Tiger or Olympian with the lower powered engine variant, but there's the gearbox sounds on top of that. There is a recording of one going through the full range on YouTube but I don't think it would be able to be used much other than full acceleration reference in scripting.

I can understand the confusion DTG doesn't promise anything to let fans down? Have lose hope in Dovetail Games they are doing their best and always Choose Kindness and no Mean Words. ("Never make a promise you can't keep")

Lived in Lancaster for 7 years and the only thing wrong with this is the weather, where is the rain? :D

Looks seriously good and those yellow transit vans are amazing too.

Does free roam work on the old routes ?, if so then as a compromise it may be possible to run the 142 with it alongside the timetable in the mean time by spawning it in. It would in the mean time be quite close to it being implemented if it works. Definitely closer than what could have been before.

Personally, I'm not having any problems driving the 2 trains all over the route. I understand that some people are.
Not the most absorbing route, but certainly playable and enjoyable. By no means was it ever " a mess ".

On a more general level, I think it's disingenuous to use what seems to be an excellent dlc from JT to bash or disparage other studios who have been doing entertaining TSW work for several years.

Any favorable or unfavorable comparisons should wait until release or at the very least a live stream. That would be only fair.

Too early for NTP which was set around 1983-84. Class 142 was introduced in 1985.

Im sure JT wouldnt relrase their premiere flag ship with "forget" about essential things like speed signs. There are route aspects just have to be done correct. (As example whats the point of having iceCream gimmicks allover the place if the train is missing basic elements - not going to name a dev).

Use to drive no Hud only, all Routes. No speedboards isnt just immersion braking, it would be gamebreaking for me.
The german route mainz koblenz has some missing speed signs, but if its just 1 a player can remember the location.

Working Signaling is even more essential, especialy with tsw4s new features.

There are so many compromises in TSW.

Another timetable with the pacer randomly subbing in would be welcome I’m sure.

As long as it is another timetable I wouldn't have an objection. If it subbed in on the one and only timetable as happens with layers then I would be objecting most profusely. Unless they come up with a way of selecting layers which doesn't look like happening any time soon.

You do realise a huge number of real world speed boards are missing, damaged( bent or rotated), obscured or vandalised to the point of illegible.

So... missing boards isn't immersion breaking it's probably actually pretty accurate.

I have to also say this is looking good. With the new suspension in TSW4 it will be an advantage for making the pacer bounce.

The only thing, and correct me if I am wrong, Blackpool North looks too modern for the 1980s. I remember that there wasn't any doors to the platform, and it was metal shutters which only went up right before the train was about to depart. Cue the run to the train to get the rear seats to look out of the 104s. Also as I remember the flooring was mainly black rubber tiles, except towards the rear entrance, which were concrete. Again this is just from what I can remember and I maybe totally wrong.

One more question is will there be only the blue pacers? As the old GM Oranage ones seemed to run quite often.

Yeah that's correct but there are missing critical signs also.... SpeedReduction by junctions and other critical places.... That's different from signs on the mainline

Removing the class 40 and adding the 142 to a new timetable would sort most of it. I'd like to see the 31 added to NTP with short speedlink freight runs and short mk2 rakes of 3 to 4 coaches.

I do agree - although I now remember feeling annoyed by those who complained about 45s and 47s on West Cornwall because they were out of era. How unreasonable, I thought, that these people want to prevent me driving my favourite stock, just because it irritates them having to watch it go past!

Oh well, if I can’t be hypocritical here, where can I be? So just for clarity, old stock on modern routes - absolutely fine. Modern stock on old routes - an immersion-breaking outrage!
