This route has certainly piqued my interest and it's good to see your part of the project team Tom, that is reassuring news and the chaps at JT have got involved also.
I've looked at your route map and just wanted to ask if Preston Docks branch has been included with this route, at all, I was also looking at the Burn Naze end of the layout and wondered if we could possibly run the bitumen tanks from Burn Naze down to Preston from the 1980s, are there any other industrial type railheads/sidings that we can run to/from with the appropriate locos on this route, to keep us freight fanatics happy, you understand, ICI Thornton and Fleetwood Power Station, etc, and or, on a ''to do'' list for the future, with some new bitumen tanks and associated rolling stock, of course, please?

    Cheerz. Steve.

I think it was mentioned previously Preston Docks are not included but no doubt JT can confirm.

I think this was mentioned in one comment but I just want to mention something what JT could have done better. It was also mentioned in one of the development updates, it is Blackpool pleasure beach station. The route will be much better if they set it in 1988 where you can explore at station alongside a landmark and it will be like some services what go to Blackpool south today. Instead of just leaving squires gate then straight to Blackpool south, in my opinion stopping services with a pacer would be more fun.

Yes, admittedly my childhood memories are imprecise in that respect! I always think route developers would be better off giving a rough era for their routes rather than a precise year, to avoid the complications!

nah, not for me, we'd lose the Class 40's and I can't have that! Possibly would lose the 45's as well? Can't remember which year they fully withdrew

They went mid 88 I think. 86 is definitely the better choice.

Aside from D200, which was effectively a preserved loco, the 40s were gone before 1986 anyway. The 45s lasted until 1988 on Trans-Pennines but when they last went to Blackpool, I don’t know. I prefer the mix of stock in 1986 to 1988 personally, though.

I could add some things as well. Such has the unit numbers don't match the colours. 001-014 are GM 015-027 Were Skippers and the rest are blue.

Mind you, I also noticed that there seems to be a luggage rack near the front, which in 1986 would of been a bench seat and I do remember that there was partitian doors between the front side seats and the main part. But any of these things aren't that fully important to me.

Has 142 sounds been discussed? I have just seen AP's latest sound pack, not sure of that's relevant to this era of pacer and if this will be added?

Yes it is relevant to this era, no I don't think it's been provided as part of this pack. I prefer to focus on what is in this, rather than what isn't. We all know have widely varied the railscene was in the 1980s for locos and 2nd gen DMUs starting to appear too.

But where does it state what sounds have been used for this DMU? Ironic how new sounds are released by AP, just as this DLC is preparing for release.

I will happily accept a bit of era licence to get a 40 working between Preston and Blackpool and vv. Far less incongruous than the DLOGW or the classic diesel implementation on WCL.

Would also love to have seen a Class 25 introduced with the route even though, again, most of these had gone by the mid 80’s.

AP haven't released new sounds, they've released an entire DLC for TSC including the modelling etc. JT have been working on this route for over a year, so it's best not to speculate until released.

Thanks for the feedback, it is something we considered though there are reasons we decided against it. Primarily we had more accurate documentation for 1986 (and prior), which is vital in a product such as this. Beyond that it would've meant a different timetable, as the Pleasure Beach stop meant they had to retime everything, no idea by how little etc but its something that would've changed in the WTT. Essentially our team wanted to see a vibrant loco hauled experience, alongside the pacer and the best way to achieve that really was to date the route in the middle of the era, by 1988 more changes had begun to take place, and extras were rapidly becoming a thing of the past, whereas in 1986 the thought of running additionals still existed.

Preston Docks not included, as that'd have been a pile of work in itself and wouldn't have been accesible from our route (the line continues to Ormskirk but the other two lines end at Farington). The Burn Naze branch is included and the timetable features the oil train going up there. In future if we ever made more wagons then we could feasibly add more workings down there too.

On the liveries we'll be hoping to sort this post release, it's a very complicated set of files in terms of numbering and quite the mess to sort out, so the intention is once the release is out of the way that we can focus time to allocating the right numbers to the right livery. Essentially it's because of all the variations, makes it a far bigger job than one may expect!

Yup, this is true, it was included to allow people to use it on the WCL route, but also so that people have the maximum value for money/variation across the route, they don't show up as often as the Provincial Blue/GMPTE liveries though.

I love the way you guys have gone the extra mile like this, recognising this game isn't just about the route you're selling, but also enhancing our other routes through your hard work, thank you so much for this.

Loco wise 25 for sure, also some subclass variables such as 31/4, 47/0 or 3 would be great in the long term and a 37/0 as these hauled Sheffield to Blackpool trains although maybe not by 1986.

If DTG hadn't frozen production of anything other than one handled units .then we may have had some of the above by now. The irony is that some older stuff still runs now....

Agreed. I know little of this route, having only travelled on it once or twice in the 90's, but the level of care and attention shown in this thread shows me that this is a worthwhile day 1 purchase. And that's a first for me in TSW!

I just want to say that Colne isn’t mentioned on the PIS boards for AI only Services.

And I think they also leave on bay platforms at Preston for services to Ormskirk, or that could just be for modern day only now. Services from Ormskirk in the 1980s also went to Blackpool south from what I heard. And again Sometimes services from Colne also go to Blackpool south, what would need to be on platforms 1,2 and 3. Aswell with the Ormskirk one.

Does that mean the Skipper Livery for the 142 layers on WCL?

It's probably for scenario planner. Making it a layer is rivet's job, not jts

No. The 142 will not layer onto other routes at all unless DTG or Rivet update the relevant DLCs.

Colne services will appear on PIS when an AI is in the area. These services run from 3C. They are AI only however

The Class 142 does appear out of the box as a Layer for WCL. Not sure how this happened but there will of been something in the tagging when the stock was set up that allowed for it.

This is the one time I say, don't fix it. This is something that adds MUCH NEEDED variety on the WCL route since the Pacers ran there in reality at some point.

Here are some random weekend bonus screenshots for your delectation, ahead of what's going to be a busy week or so prior to release. Look out for further pre-release marketing activity including that Preview stream this coming Thursday (9thNovember).

A question I have, will the 142 couple to other DMUs with BSI couplers such as the 150 from WCL and the 158 from MML?

Are my eyes deceiving me or is the clag in the image below much better than it is currently in game. I haven't actually driven the 47 for a while as I've been loving the 45s so could be completely wrong. Great shots!

Not out of the box sadly. This will require Skyhook / Rivet to make compatibility fixes to there stock to allow them to be paired up.
